  1. I'm giving you a technical foul for even asking! Oh, as for Skiles being gone, Simmons mentioned that the Celtics might go after him after this year. I don't know if that's true or if it's just typical delusional Boston sports fan rambling, but I think Skiles needs to win one stinkin' playoff series or he's in danger of being shown the door. I am not so sure Skiles and Ainge particularly like each other. Simmons also mentioned Rick Carlisle who is the coach I wanted them to bring in as soon as Detroit let him go. Let Doc Rivers disappear into obscurity where he can be an NBA analyst for some Fox Sports affiliate somewhere.
  2. That doesn't make much sense. The offense is already struggling, why would you want to move one of the team's best hitters to the bottom of the order in favor of one of the worst? It would probably be a better idea to just bench Coco in favor of Wily Mo for a week or so and let Coco work out privately with the hitting coach. He's in the kind of slump now that playing every day is just making things worse. I feel bad for the guy and I do think he has a lot of potential, but he's playing himself right out of town with a better CFer sitting on the bench and one knocking on the door in the minors. Youkilis has proved he can hit anywhere in the line-up, and as said it breaks up the as of now blackhole combo of Tek and Crisp. Don't forget that Crisp also seemed to produce the most in Cleveland hitting second in the order infront of Victor Martinez or Travis Hafner. Also, as much as I love Willy Mo as a hitter you've got to feel like defensively he'll end up costing the team down the line more than he'll produce at the plate with his still undisciplined eye. One thing I've been happy about thus far is that Crisp hasn't taken his offensive struggles into the field with him and still catches everything around him.
  3. You're close on that, and the only reason I know the full reasoning behind this is because I recentely watched Tears of the Sun on FX with their DVD on TV thing. This new Die Hard was suppose to be called Die Hard: Tears of the Son, but in order to get Bruce to sign off on doing the film they had to let him take that title and use it for the movie BL just mentioned, with of course Son being changed to Sun.
  4. He certainly had good command with his slider tonight. For all the praise that ESPN and NESN have given the Red Sox offense thus far they haven't been consistent enough to really warrant it. Crisp was 0 for his last 16 before last night, Manny has been hitting nothing but singles, and Tek doesn't have much left in the tank it seems. I would keep Crisp hitting second though and wondered why they hadn't had him there to begin with since he would benefit more from Papi's protection. He'd see alot more fastballs and Youkilis can draw walks from the bottom of the order and turn things over. I'd really like to see them with Crisp hitting second, Youkilis hitting 7th and Tek hitting 8th for the next few games. Keep the rest of the order where they've been.
  5. It actually reminded me alot of that moment in the movie Forget Paris when Billy Crystal goes nuts and starts tossing people for laughing at him. I don't see how Crawford can be allowed to ref another Spurs game for the duration of Duncan's career.
  6. Al needs to replace Snitsky with a picture of Joey Crawford.
  7. Ok, how the hell did we all miss THIS? nobody missed it. We're all just trying to recover and move on.
  8. I know its still very early in the season but the Red Sox have a team ERA of 2.72 at the moment and the starters ERA (minus Tavarez because he's out of the rotation once Lester is healthy anyways) is 2.07 They also have the lowest OBA and the strike-out to walk ratio right now is about 3/1 (76K 27BB) This team can be very good if the pitching stays the course.
  9. looks like BJ Ryan needs Tommy John surgery from what Mike & Mike in the Morning are reporting via Buster Olney.
  10. game's been pushed back to a "tentative noon start". I don't see it happening.
  11. 23 Julio Lugo could have kept his number and used Mr. Hartung as an excuse to not be trendy today had they actually played.
  12. so that means you won't be joining us for the massive circle jerk into the giant kleenex that has the faces of Scooter Keith, Dames and Mole all embroidered into it?
  13. Buddy Bell has had a job too long now. I don't say that because he's a terrible manager but more-so because he usually doesn't last that long.
  14. so apparently the Dolphins are just going to up and release Culpepper if/when Trent Green is aquired. I don't get the reasoning behind that one since they did spend a 2nd round pick on him and ACL injuries generally take 18-24 months to fully heal. You would think they would just throw him on the PUP list, let him fully heal, and then see if they can get anything out of him. If released I wonder if he would consider Oakland. He and Randy Moss have not been the same since being split up. If Oakland had a healthy Daunte Culpepper, motivated Randy Moss and Jerry Porter along with Calvin Johnson then that offense would be stacked.
  15. They honor Mo everyday at The Foxy Lady.
  16. I don't know how that show stays on the air. I liked ESPN2 alot better when they just showed a bunch of NFL Films presents during their non-live coverage of sports events.
  17. as far as recent Red Sox rookies go in the hitting department; Dustin Pedroia is like the Anti Hillenbrand. Draws walks on a constant basis and doesn't seem to swing at terrible pitches at all. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up leading all rookies on OBP this season.
  18. as much as I hate to admit it the Celts are the second winningest (is that even a word?) franchise in American Pro sports to the Yankees. I don't know if Doc Rivers is the problem but he's certainly not the solution. I do however know that Danny Ainge needs to be sent packing. The Celtics hired him the year after losing to the Nets for the second straight time in the playoffs and since then have been back only once I believe. That roster has had so much turnover its ridiculous. Its like a child with a copy of NBA 2K just throwing out trades one after the other. He's also responsable for what I felt was a very good coach in Jim O'Brien leaving. Not only did O'Brien turn chicken shit into chicken salad at first but he helped Walker become a leader and Pierce reach his true potential (if you recall Pierce was having difficulties when he first entered the league). I'd peg Ainge as public enemy number one before joining a mob to lynch Doc Rivers.
  19. Link~ I remember that game against the Phins. Me and my father were trying to figure out if it was bone or pin sticking out of his hand when they showed the somewhat close-up.
  20. I think the Pats should retire Bledsoe's number. Those outside of New England for the most part don't remember a time when old Foxboro stadium was nearly empty and the local NFL affiliates wouldn't even bother playing the Pats, instead opting to show NY Giants games instead. When fans around here talk about the Pats going from absolute shit to a respectable football franchise there are three things mentioned. 1.) Kraft purchasing the team 2.) Bill Parcells being brought in 3.) Bledsoe being drafted Without those three things occuring there is no Tom Brady or 3 Super Bowl victories as... 1.) The team would have been moved to St. Louis. 2.) Bledsoe gave fans hope and got them interested in the team again. Upon his drafting he was suppose to be the next golden boy QB and was often compared to Johnny-U. 3.) Parcells gave the organisation instant credability. Free Agents and NFL Execs alike viewed the team in a different light when Kraft was able to bring him in. I don't know if Bledsoe will make the HoF. He's 7th all time in passing yards at the moment (sure to drop to 8th one day when Peyton surpasses him), 5th in completions, and 13th in TD passes.
  21. Only if he plays Riddick.
  22. When I read this, my first reaction was that I was going to have to yell at Frigid Soul again. Its stuff like this that keeps us from being Myspace friends.
  23. hey Czech, who do you want to buy your beloved Cubs after season's end? All I've heard thus far as a possible buyer is Mark Cuban.
  24. I'm really looking forward to week 2 for the Pats and Chargers rematch. I want to see how this team matches up against the Chargers now. Most said that playoff win was luck and luck alone, but with the new additions to the Pats I feel they've surpassed the team talent level of San Diego.
  25. and off to the DL Mussina is most likely headed. Left the game with a hamstring injury or something in that area. If the Red Sox make any moves this season I hope to god it will be upgrading CF and getting rid of Joel Piniero.
