Bronson Arroyo will be with the Reds through 2010 now. He signed a $25mill 2 year extension. So now over the next four years he'll be paid... 2007: $4.125mill 2008: $3.95mill 2009: $9.5mill 2010: $11mill 2011: Club Option for $11mill or $2mill buyout he also got a $2.5mill signing bonus The Reds certainly do like to overspend on players they already have the rights to.

How am I suppose to believe Cyan is married and a father of a kid between the age of 8 and 11 when the actor playing him isn't even old enough to grow the damned mustache?

idiot of the week goes to... I think San Diego is going to be reeling quite a bit from losing both the coordinators. Belichick went through this two seasons ago and is just now finding stability in the rest of his coaching staff and getting back to what they were a few years back (and he's 100x the coach Schottenheimer is).

Kinda hard for him to put numbers up in Oakland when he's had shit, shittier, and shittiest passing him the ball. I don't believe Moss has given 100% during his tenure in Oakland, but at the same time he's had nothing to work with in terms of a QB. Due to that I don't believe he's "crapped out" and instead would not be surprised at all to see him resurrect his career in Green Bay or anywhere else that has a QB and another WR that demands defenses respect his abilities as well.

ESPN.com's NBA section says it is him. Must read article due to his coming out. I find I agree with alot of it.

I was going to include Torry Holt but at this point in time he hasn't accomplished more than the other recievers I named. Hell, I even thought about placing Rod Smith up there.

Anybody else see that Green Bay may make a run for Randy Moss? My all time top 5 WR 1.) Jerry Rice 2.) Steve Largent 3.) Don Hutson 4.) Cris Carter 5.) Tim Brown

In a perfect world EA trades their NFL rights to 2K for 2K's MLB rights. I think everybody can agree that EA is stronger at baseball titles than football and the opposite can be said about 2K.

I just want the Pats to grab Patrick Willis with one of their first round picks.

The deepest draft in a few years and its the one draft Danny Ainge isn't stock-piling picks for. Trade Sebastian Telfair already and when Wally comes back from injury long enough to play 3 in a row you trade him too.

Well it was bound to happen. I've lost so much weight in the past month that the sweatpants I bought for running no longer fit. I can't get the drawstring to tie tight enough regardless of what I try. I just tried running and them and they proceeded to fall down my backside which had me almost slip on a piece of ice and bust my ass. I'll pick up a smaller size pair tommorow.

I felt good about myself before making this thread. I just wanted to see the consensus on who everybody thought was the most pathetic. I obviously missed the time when Marvin went from being best known for his Kauffman avatars to being the board's version of Tiny Tim.

Sportsnation is running a poll here asking what players they would place where in their ideal line-up. I thought it would be a good thing to discuss in even further detail with everybody making their own line-up and explaining why they have who they have where they have them. We'll use the DH in constructing our line-ups and don't worry about defense at the position. 1.) RF Ichiro Suzuki - Sure, he isn't what he was 3 years ago but there haven't been many players in the league who are. I take him in the lead-off hole for the pure fact that this is a guy that rarely strikes out and sees a ton of pitches. I also like the fact that he can force the defense into making errors with his speed and often turns what should be an easy groundball out into a double via his speed (beating the throw and then often times stealing second). 2.) SS Derek Jeter - I may hate the Yankees but I respect what Jeter brings to the plate. Possibly the best hitter I've ever seen when it comes to inside-outting a pitch. Great ability to go to the opposite field which gives a speedy lead-off man a good shot of going first to third. Jeter also has the ability to steal himself a base when need be. 3.) DH David Ortiz - Great power to all fields, very good plate discipline, and always finds a way to come through in the clutch. Nobody else I would want in this spot as I've watched him come through time and time again in it for 3 years now (I realise he's had four seasons in Boston but his first was spent mainly in the 5 hole). 4.) 1B Albert Pujols - You could flip a coin between he and Ryan Howard at this point but I'll stick with Pujols. I don't think there's a hitter that any pitcher would rather not see with the bases loaded. An absolute machine when it comes to driving in runs. 5.) LF Manny Ramirez - Another OPS monster like Pujols. He's averaged 42 homers and 135 RBI for his career, nuff said. 6.) 3B Alex Rodriguez - Although his post season numbers with the Yankees have been nothing special he's still the best hitter at his position. He drops to 6th in my order due to the fact that he just doesn't seem to be able to shrug off pressure as easily as Ortiz, Pujols, and Manny. 7.) C Joe Mauer - The 7 hole is about where I think you start to turn over the line-up. How about a catcher who had a .429 OBP last season and is primed to get even better? 8.) 2B Chase Utley - If you're going to start turning over the line-up at 7 then you need a 2-hitter for the 8 hole. Chase Utley may not be good enough to dethrone Jeter from the 2-hole but he'll fill in nicely here. In my opinion he's the best second baseman in the league. He gets on base, hits for fairly good power, drives in runs and can steal a base occasionally. 9.) CF Grady Sizemore - If this line-up were to bat around then you want a hitter that can not only drive in the couple runners infront of him but who's also fast enough to not impede Ichiro. that's what I got

Czech spent a solid 7min writing up the description on me and somebody ruined it.

don't think he could ask for a fortune next season. The FA crop of starters is much better than this year's. As of this minute some starters available next year in free agency are Bartolo Colon, Curt Schilling, Mark Buerhle, John Smoltz, Carlos Zambrano, Freddy Garcia, Jake Westbrook, etc.

Happened to me all the time on the PS1. Game would freeze and I'd be forced to reset.

What I don't get about the extension is this part He was asking for $5.5mill, they countered with $4.25mill and then somewhere along the lines they just said to hell with it and gave him an average salary of $9mill and change?

so basically the Cubs should sign Ronnie Belliard for a year.

I was looking at total team salaries and saw that the Rays and Marlins are both at the bottom of the bucket. That's not surprising but what is surprising is that if you were to combine both rosters then the total team salary would still only be more than the total team salaries of three other teams. The Rockies, Royals, and one other club.
