Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released
tigeraid replied to Human Fly's topic in The WWE Folder
Regardless of the details coming out, I still refuse to believe Benoit has been a sadistic freak his entire life. I really think Eddie Guerrero's death impacted him huge, many wrestlers mentioned he hadn't been right since then. Something snapped, and I'm sure the roids and drugs just made it worse. But I refuse to believe the Benoit who celebrated with his family in the ring after winning the World Title was the same Benoit who killed them last weekend. There are no excuses, he deserved to either die or spend life in prison regardless, but this was a result of a guy snapping due to stress, drugs and more stress, not a life-long piece of crap. -

I must admit, that could be a rather positive note. -

Christ, I feel sick to my stomach. He was my hero as a teen, at times the only reason I would bother watching WCW. When he showed up in WWE it was my main reason for watching WWE. Benoit winning the World Title was one of the happiest moments of my life. I just can't believe this shit. -
Tell me about it

Fairly straightforward, but I can't really come up with a reason why... TNA pulled Joe from ROH. This was before the PPV was announced too, so technically ROH wasn't "competition" yet and Homicide, Aries and Daniels were still allowed at that point. The idea being that Joe was due for a huge main event push. Fair enough. So why is Joe still allowed to wrestle for seemingly every single other Indy fed on the planet? I could understand keeping his schedule light, his injury possibilities down, that sort of thing, so why was he allowed to work everywhere ELSE but ROH?

By me and another guy. I shall preface this by saying I'm not an "ROHBot" and I enjoy good wrestling in whatever company it's in. I dislike the current WWE product for a bazillion reasons and am a huge ROH fan. This first video, for example, touches on our dislike of the recent WWE direction of crappy implausible finishing moves that look really weak or stupid. Enjoy, don't enjoy, comments, whatever you wish. http://files.filefront.com//;7529610;/

Daniels in full heel mode was a little hard to deal with, considering the previous show he was his usual babyface self, and there was no explanation as to why he was suddenly his TNA heel persona. Strong/Evans was a great match. Whitmer and Jacobs spilled out into the crowd right next to where we were sitting--Jacobs' head landed on my chair. The downside to that sort of match is that we were missing the good wrestling from Haze and Lacey in the ring while Jacobs and Whitmer pounded on each other behind us. Oh well. The main event was pretty awesome, and the ref actually managed to understand and follow Dragongate rules for most of it that I saw. Great reaction for the ROH wrestlers, even Romero. After the show, we all went to Como's for pizza and beer with the wrestlers. This was my first time heading to a post-party after the show, we had a great time. I bought Brent Albright a beer and chatted him up a bit--he told me he started using the half-nelson suplex ala Kobashi to try and distance himself from looking a whole lot like Benoit. I think it looks fucking SICK, I love it. Nigel was also very friendly to us, I talked to Aries for a bit, and my buddy stood at the bar with Homicide for a few minutes. On the one hand it was awesome seeing and talking to these guys in person, on the other hand it's a bit weird and surreal since they're completely out of character, they're hanging out with THEIR buddies, and you want to try your best not to seem like a goofy fanboy asking them questions or ASSUMING they have to spend time with you. But from what I saw, no one made an ass of themselves and it was a great night. Oh, and either Roderick is taking the heel thing too seriously, or he's a complete dick in real life. He elbowed everyone out of the way for the buffet and was as an ass to most of the fans. Only time he responded to anyone was when someone wanted to buy him a beer. Oh, and Christopher Daniels is a Corona whore. Will definitely be back this September for the next show.

Well what can I say, as always an unbelievable fuckin experience live. This card from top to bottom was awesome (except the squash match.) I too was worried that having the cage match so early blew us up for the rest of the night, but Aries/Strong really stepped up to the plate anyway. I dunno WHAT kind of heat Strong is getting yet, but it's working--he's full-on heel now. Watching the tooth fly out in person was pretty interesting--And you could also tell the barbed wire bat was really digging into em up close--they aren't faking getting ripped up by that. Honestly I enjoyed Aries/Strong the most of the "three main events" though. The Dragon Gate 6-Man was mind blowing as always, although there were a couple of times when (as usual) the ref forgot the Dragon Gate rules and messed up the flow of the match. I wish they'd just get a DG ref for these matches. I'm a Romero mark, so I was happy to see him as a "surprise" NRC member, but I agree his entrance was very underwhelming. He didn't even cut a promo. And if he's going to be a badass heel he ABSOLUTELY has to change that friggin' Cuban romance music he comes out to. Not even remotely imitating. I've posted my thoughts on Night 1 as well, but all in all an unbelievable weekend and I'm completely happy I went to this and not Wrestlemania. EDIT: oh, and by far the absolute best moment of the night was Nigel doing a short-arm lariat to Johnny Fairplay who was, as you can expect, not at all welcomed by the ROH crowd. The lariat was absolutely INSANE and folded him in half. Never heard a bigger single pop from a live crowd. "Here's what ROH thinks of a shitty has-been TNA manager." Oh and at some point every time Cornette or Daniels was out, there was a Fire Russo chant. Tits.

I shall be there both Friday and Saturday. They look like they just MIGHT be the best ROH shows ever, despite the lack of the world champion. I'm hugging my tickets as we speak.

Most prestigious World Championship in wrestling Today
tigeraid replied to canadafour's topic in General Wrestling
Sorry but as far as I'm concerned the ability to consistently put on an AWESOME main event, and workrate, are the two most important things in a title holder, not popularity, notoriety, ticket sales or drawing power. That's just me. So having said that, the ROH World Title and the GHC Heavyweight Title are unquestionably my two choices. -
Ya, my buddy mentioned just that when he saw him... "I wonder what McMahon thinks of that."

FINE.

Tremendous main event and a decent card throughout. The only thing I was disappointed about was MacDonald's showing--I'm a big MacDonald mark, and while I didn't necessarily think he'd beat the hell out of Franklin, I expected better. Still, this is in no way hurts MacDonald's push through UFC, he's still got a good undefeated streak and only lost to a former champion. And I couldn't agree more on Silvia. I considered Arlovski a better fighter and better champ, and I thought the one knockout Silvia got on him was really luck. Randy just had his number the entire match. That first punch is really what did it IMO, it totally threw him off, because he expected Randy to push the shoot at all costs, kind of like with Monson. Instead, Randy out-paced him on his feet, and solved the reach problem with that big overhand right. It was phenomenal. I just hated Silvia's attitude since winning the title--he became a guy trying to keep the title, not a guy trying to go out and beat people up. My hatred of him was really confirmed when he said, in the pre-PPV hype stuff, that "Couture didn't do well against his last two Heavyweights, or his last two strikers--and I'm the best of both." ... Are you fucking kidding me? With Arlovski and Cro Cop in the same division? Jesus. Just a pompous ass with all ego and no skill. Which is a shame, because he if HAD have put effort into his technique, he really COULD be the most dominant heavyweight in the world. He's the ultimate slacker. Compare that to Couture, who drove the point home by throwing punches at Silvia until the absolute BUZZER of the 5th round, and not a second before. That's how a champion should fight. The old man rocks. I really, really think Dana White came to Joe Rogan before the show and begged him to put Silvia over in an attempt to make the fight more interesting. I honestly expected Couture to win (just not in so dominant a fashion), and obviously from the phone poll, everyone else did too. And we all know Joe considers Couture to be his "hero," so it's really the only explanation. And how about that transition into triangle choke from Kampmann? That shit was poetry in motion. Oh, and Babalu FTL. For the fuckin loss. Go home.

I still think going after the tag titles would've made a lot more sense. Nontheless, I'm sure the match will be quite special. -
That'd be Mark Briscoe... C'mon you fuckers, participate!

Gotta go with Raven and Sandman. When they're together talking about the good ol' days, it's nothing but non-stop underage titties, drugs of every conceivable kind and alcohol mixed with the odd story about wrestling. Sandman spends over half the shoot red in the face laughing his ass off.
