    NFL 2007 Draft Thread

They really should just trade that pick to shore up draft picks, take a cheaper QB in the 3rd or 4th round and let Kitna teach him like he did with Palmer. The Lions need O-lineman and D-lineman. Joe Thomas, Gaines Adams, Quentin Moses, Sam Baker, Levi Brown, Jake Long, Lamar Woodley, Alan Branch, Justin Blalock, these are the types of names Detroit needs to be looking at. They need to draft from the inside-out.

-The general reasoning is that Michigan winning a rematch would result in them being national champs b/c it was on a neutral field. -My argument about other sports is based more on the principle that losing to an opponent should not prevent said person/team for competing for whatever title b/c it would be a rematch. -What I wouldn't mind seeing is Michigan/USC in the Rose Bowl while Florida/Arkansas plays Ohio State but it probably won't work out that way. -I will support USC being in the championship game if they win impressively against Notre Dame and UCLA, which is no guarantee.

Alright, I've listened to all the radio stations, looked at all the websites, and watched all the TV stations. Out of all the experts I've listened to, I have not heard ONE person say that UM/OSU was not a great game. None of that "Michigan was never really in the game" talk. In fact, some people have given Michigan credit for coming back from 14 points down in one of the toughest envionments in the country to give themselves a chance to win. These are people that know what they're talking about. Almost every one of those experts believes that UM is the #2 team. When I look at the polls asking about a rematch, I see no greater than a 55-45 split. So roughly half the country thinks there should be a rematch. These are not just UM fans talking. It seems to me as if there are a lot of people NOT associated with Michigan who support the notion that UM is the second best team and should get the rematch. My own personal thoughts: Well a couple ppl on here have already hammered the "Michigan's loss is better than USC's loss" point home so I won't get into that. I believe the "I don't want to see a rematch" excuse lends the least amount of credence. Comparing college football to a different college sport, how many times have we seen, say, Duke/UNC in basketball play each other 3-4 different times in a season? A better example would be G-Town/Nova in '85 b/c they actually met in the finals after facing each other earlier. In boxing, who didn't want to see Ali/Frazier again? "But college football's different!" Well all of those other sports are different from each other too. Sorry, but rematches are a part of sports. "But what about Florida/Florida State in '96?" Um, I fail to see what something that happened a decade ago has to with the present(BTW, I hate when ppl make predictions based on past events). The "winning the conference" argument is a little silly to me too. So the Steelers shouldn't have had the opportunity to win the Super Bowl b/c they didn't win their division? How many Wild Card teams have won the World Series in recent years? Has every NBA and NHL champion in history won their division? "But the rules in those leagues allow non-divsion winners to have the opportunity to win a champioship!" Well, last I checked, there was no rule stating that you have to win your conference to play in the BCS title game. Is it not possible for the two best teams to be in the same conference? Correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding was that the purpose of the BCS was to pit the 2 best teams against each other. Based on both teams' body of work, I believe Michigan has a better resume than USC. Forget the losses since they've been discussed ad nauseum, let's look at the wins. The big thing for me is that Michigan has 2 wins over BCS top-ten teams while USC has 1. "But Michigan beat a Wisconsin team that didn't have P.J. Hill most of the game!" Well, USC beat an Arkansas team that had a banged up Darren McFadden and was not starting Mitch Mustain(and now Casey Dick) at that point. Plus it was the first game of the year. "But Michigan had a close game with Ball State at home!" Well every team has at least one letdown during the year. Remember, in that same week, Ohio State only beat Illinois by 7. Now USC had THREE close games against the likes of Washington, Washington State, and Arizona State, with two of those games occuring at home. Hey, this is just my opinion, but I know I'm far from the only person to have Michigan ahead of USC. If USC runs the table and ends up at #2, fine. But at this point, I feel that UM is a better team than USC.

    NFL Week 11

Lions once again hit a new low with a loss to the Cardinals. They managed to do the impossible, make Arizona's O-Line look good. Kevin Jones left the game with some type of ankle injury, Josh McCown made an appearance at WR, and to make matters worse, Joey Harrington's going back to his old stomping grounds on Thanksgiving to throw more dirt on the Lions grave. And to think, some experts actually had Detroit in the playoffs or at least contending for it.

I think you guys are selling Michigan short by saying the game wasn't really all that close. Say Crable doesn't get that penalty and Michigan gets the ball back. Who's to say that they wouldn't have drove down the field, scored a touchdown, and won the game? It's not like OSU's D was having a stellar game. You gotta give UM some credit for only losing by 3 in a really tough environment. I'm not gonna gripe if UM doesn't get a rematch cause they had their shot. I just wanna see it as a Michigan fan. But I believe UM is closer to OSU than some of you guys think.

How do these statements not mesh with each other. Are you having issues with your reading comprehension? I said that USC and Florida would get in ahead of Michigan. I just said that Michigan was the better team and more worthy. Because how can you say Michigan is the best? That's such a subjective statement. Personally if everyone that's in the conversation wins out, it should be either USC/Florida getting in. Why should Michigan get another chance? They wouldn't even have won their conference title while USC and Florida would. Really let's drop all the Michigan talk on that basis. As far as I'm concerned, USC/Florida/Arkansas/ND/Rutgers is all that's left to discuss as far as title contenders. edit: In fact I'd be willing to bet most of you guys advocating a Michigan return would be the same fans who was against Oklahoma going to the Sugar Bowl after losing the conference title game to Kansas State. How hypocritical. Two differences: 1. Kansas State was not the #1 team in the nation. 2. Oklahoma got killed on a neutral field.

Good effort, bad result. Michigan won the turnover battle and still lost. Henne didn't give the ball up, but he did miss some key throws. Hart should've gotten the ball more. I see why Lloyd wanted to be more aggressive but the Buckeyes weren't stopping the run at all. The safeties played like shit with both the run and the pass. Troy Smith just methodically picked the secondary apart, especially in the first half. He didn't even have to run much. I don't think Michigan's run D played all that bad, they just gave up two big plays, and that's all OSU needed. I think the Crable call was dicey at best. As a UM fan, I'm obiviously not opposed to a rematch. It sounds as if the country's pretty much split on a rematch. Personally, I'm tired of Rose Bowls. I want national titles. Once again, Tressel 1-ups Carr. There's no doubt in my mind that UM is the second best team but a lot has to happen for that rematch to occur.

I attended a couple UM football camps in H.S. and had the opportunity to hear Bo speak and I was a better man for it. I have no idea how this will affect the game. I imagine Michigan will come out with as much emotion as any past Wolverine team I can remember. This is quite the time for something like this to happen. Well I guess now Bo and Woody will be able to sit side by side in heaven with the sweet sounds of Bob Ufer calling the game. RIP Bo and thanks for everything.

To me, voting for Peyton for MVP is like voting for Barry Bonds in his prime. He puts up great stats every year and his team wins 12-14 games every year. It's just easy to vote for him every year. I also think that Peyton does have a good running game to back him up. The reason the stats don't look great is because of Rhodes' numbers. As Addai continues to get more carries, the rushing stats will look better. The Chargers are the only team in the league that can be down 21 and not change their gameplan, which would be to hand the ball off to LT. It's awfully hard to not vote for a guy who's likely to break the T.D. record. Another thing to keep in mind is that having co-MVP's is not unprecedented.

    Gerald Levert passes away

(CNN) -- Gerald Levert, the R&B singer whose hits included "I Swear" and "I'd Give Anything," as well as chart-toppers with the groups LeVert and LSG, has died, according to his label, Atlantic Records. He was 40. Levert died of a heart attack Friday at his Cleveland, Ohio, home, according a statement from Atlantic. "He was one of the greatest voices of our time, who sang with unmatched soulfulness and power, as well as a tremendously gifted composer and an accomplished producer," the statement read. "Above all, he was an exceptional human being whose warmth and grace inspired us all." Levert, the son of O'Jays member Eddie Levert Sr., first hit it big with his sibling Sean and friend Marc Gordon as the trio LeVert in the mid-'80s. The group's hits included the 1987 song "Casanova," which hit the Top Five on the pop charts. Gerald Levert went solo in 1991. His hits included a duet with his father, "Baby Hold On to Me." In 1997 he and singers Johnny Gill and Keith Sweat formed LSG. The group's self-titled album sold more than two million copies, and their hits included "My Body." More recent albums by Levert included 2002's "The G Spot" and 2004's "Do I Speak for the World." His most recent album was 2005's "Voices." Levert had four children.
