  1. Fair enough, we'll see how it works out for him. On another note, anyone catch the look on Doc Rivers' face when he saw they got the #5 pick? Priceless.
  2. I see it differently. I don't think he'll be any lower than that #12-15 pick range next year, which is probably where he would've fell this year. I don't know what crop of centers are coming for next year but I imagine that Hibbert will be closer to being the #1-2 center next year than the #3-4 center he was this year which would put him in the top-10 overall at least. Gives him a chance to improve his speed and quickness which seem to be knocks against him.
  3. Hibbert's staying in school Probably the best move for him.
  4. Keyshawn retires I'm not much of a Keyshawn fan but I think it's sad how his career ended. He had 70 rec, 815 yds, and 4 TD's last year which isn't too bad. He did turn down the Titans but no contenders seemed to want him. I guess that's what happens when you get old. Now it's time to size up his HOF chances. I think he ends up falling short, mainly because there's a few guys in his own draft class that rank ahead of him.
  5. uh-oh
  6. You know, maybe the Jazz should try guarding the 3pt line sometime.
  7. Good point but a lotta fans probably don't look at it that way. Either way, Detroit's been in the playoffs every year for awhile now and with the 3 Cups in the last decade, expectations are high. They're kinda like the Yankees of hockey.
  8. Can you blame me at this point? at least the tigers are good again this year! I wish I could fall back on baseball but I cheer for the Nats so no dice. Looking forward to football at this point, but am I really when I cheer for the Bills? That's a random group of teams to cheer for but you're from Canada so I guess it's not quite so odd. Looks like another frustrating end for the Wings...fans probably wouldn't take it so hard if they weren't at the top of the league in points every year.
  9. Well did anyone catch Vick's interview? It's on the main NFL page at ESPN.com
  10. Um... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/foot...ex.html?cnn=yes
  11. You know, defense might be what ends up giving Duncan the edge over Shaq for best player in the past decade. Did you know that Shaq has never led the league in rebounds? Or that he's never been on the 1st team for defense (he's been on the 2nd team 3 times). I don't have any idea how Duncan/Shaq's blocks and steals compare to each other. Duncan hasn't led the league in rebounds either but he has all those defensive awards. The thing that Shaq has going for him is his scoring. Another thing in his favor is that he's always been at or near the top in FG%.
  12. 'Sheed leaving Donyell for that wide open 3 almost turned into shades of him leaving Horry in Game 5 of the '05 Finals.
  13. This is the pecking order for who I want to win it all: Detroit Utah San Antonio Cleveland I think these conference finals will go Spurs in 6 and Pistons in 6. I'd like to pick Utah to win but the Spurs almost never have an off game meaning Utah would have to play near perfect ball to beat them. Utah seems like a poor man's San Antonio. I think Detroit has a genuine distaste for LeBron plus they want to bury the Cavs the way they felt they shoud've last year. On another note about the Spurs, what will their place be in history, especially if they win this year? This would make it 4 outta 9 years (the 3 they have now occured in 7 years). That would be some accomplishment but the fact that none of titles happened consecutively might take the shine off that some. What about Duncan's legacy? He seems to have passed Shaq for the greatest player in the post-Jordan era and is considered by many to be the greatest PF ever.
  14. I'm excited about the offseason moves the Lions have made, but it's still the Lions, so I won't hold my breath. I like the fact that they added some speed and athleticism with Tatum Bell and the drafting of Calvin Johnson. Green Bay is a solid but unspectacular team. It'll be interesting to see how their RB situation pans out. I actually like the Vikings to finish ahead of the Packers. They already have a great O-line with Hutchinson, McKinnie and Birk and a great run defense with Kevin and Pat Williams. Chester Taylor had a great year last season and adding AD to the mix will help greatly. Minnesota also added Rice and McCauley in the draft. Chicago will still probably win the North but I don't think it'll be a runaway. We'll see if Hester succeeds as an offensive weapon.
  15. I know that the Suns are pretty much fucked already without Stoudemire and Diaw but it could get even worse. Imagine the lineup D'Antoni will have to come up with tonight if Thomas gets into foul trouble.
  16. I know I had Utah losing to Houston so it's a surprise to see them make it this far (although you have to wonder how they would've fared against Dallas). I did think the Jazz would be a dangerous team earlier this season but they faded a little down the stretch and I forgot about them. They do have a real shot against SA/PHX though. As for the Pistons, that mentality was probably what cost them in the playoffs last year. They messed around with Cleveland and as a result, they got softened up for the Heat. I think their recent reign over the East has led them to believe that they're better than they really are. They're not a great enough team to just throw away games against the 2nd or 3rd best teams in the East
  17. Once again he came through, seen him do it many times for the Lakers Which makes me wonder why the Warriors weren't doing everything they could to cover Fisher on those 3's. I'm no b-ball expert but with Fisher's experience coupled with the emotions of his family situation, you could just feel him taking and making those shots. Also, J-Rich assumed his role as the Warriors star who disappeared in a big game (every team seems to have one). In other news, the Pistons got fat, happy, complacent, and cocky once again as they got embarrassed at home. I'm not trying to take anything away from the Bulls cuz I know they played hard, but as a person who follows this team, I'm sure that Detroit expected Chicago to roll over for them at the Palace. This is nothing new for them.
  18. For me I wouldn't necessarily say favortism, but the Spurs do seem to get the benefit of the whistle more often than not. Teams with defensive reps are annoying to me sometimes not only because of their chippy style, but also the way they seem to get most of the calls. That's part of the reason why Cleveland and San Antonio are two of my least favorite teams. People here probably have the same thoughts about Detroit but they're my favorite team. Plus SA doesn't have the most likable players (and coaches) in the world.
  19. Doc Rivers gets a contract extension per SportsCenter.
  20. It's not as if they've never played in the playoffs before either. I believe this is Nocioni, Deng, Duhon, and Hinrich's 3rd postseason and of course Big Ben and P.J. Brown have been in many.
  21. Remember the Old School/Nu Skool segments those two used to have on SportsCenter?
  22. We'll see how tough the Warriors are the rest of this series. Their psyche had to have taken a huge hit considering they had a chance to win both games on the road. The games are being played at their pace and they're still losing. You gotta give GS credit though for not going away even when they keep getting dominated inside. Like Charles Barkley said last round, you're gonna have to kill the Warriors to beat them.
  23. So Joel Zumaya's gonna be out 12 weeks. That really sucks especially considering Fernando Rodney's been pitching like ass so far this season. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2863225
  24. Late picks: Pistons in 6 Nets in 6 Suns in 7 (wishful thinking here) Warriors in 6 One theme of these playoffs seems to be the inability to guard the corner 3 (especially whoever's playing the Spurs). You can't let an NBA player get a wide open look from that spot. I'd much rather take a chance on giving up a close 2.
  25. Well Pettitte's 3 1/2 years younger than Mussina so maybe he can make up some ground in the next few years.
