Yeah this is his 7th year in the league, shouldn't he be speaking English by now? Yao speaks some English and he's only been around 5 years.

LaRussa probably figured "if my team can't win the World Series, then dammit, no N.L. team will!!!"

What if Nick Anderson made his FT's against Houston in Game 1 of the Finals? 1. Do the Magic win the series? (they had homecourt I believe) if that happened... 2. Does Shaq stay in Orlando? 3. Does Penny's career not go into the tank?

Vlad just put on a great show.

Holliday's been added to the HR derby.

AL MVP: Maggs AL CY: Haren AL ROY: Okajima AL MOY: Leyland (Hargrove if he had stuck around) NL MVP: Prince (just barely over Holliday) NL CY: Peavy NL ROY: Pence NL MOY: Yost (not as impressive as it seems IMO, but no other great options)

Young's stats are nice but I just can't see a guy who had to get voted into the game on the last chance ballot end up starting it (regardless of whether he deserves it or not).

Anyone else seen this? I heard about it before but I'm just now reading the article on it. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19548613/

Couple of fairly recent NFL scenarios... What if Trent Green had not gotten hurt in '99? What if Bledsoe hadn't gotten hurt in '01 or the Pats had lost the tuck rule game? Certainly had those situations been different, the careers of several high-profile players would've been altered (in addition to the obvious ones: Warner, Brady etc...)
-
What about Grant Hill and his injuries? I've heard a couple people say he would've been a top-20 player of all-time. I don't know if I'd go that far but he'd be a Hall-of-Famer no doubt.

That's a blessing in disguise for the Tigers.

Jon Kincaid was filling in on the Herd today and he came up with an interesting topic for the listeners. Basically he asked if you could change one thing about one of your favorite teams, how would it change that teams history? It could be a trade, draft pick, crucial play in a game, or anything else. Here it doesn't have to be limited to one team or a favorite team, just come up with some scenarios that would change the state of any franchise today. "What if" discussions come up all the time but hopefully we can come up with some that aren't so obvious in addition to the ones that are always talked about. Example: What if there was never a MLB strike in '94? I don't really remember much about that year, but I know that there were a few interesting storylines (Tony Gwynn flirting with .400, the Expos having the best record in baseball etc...).

The guy who finished 3rd put up 49 and Sonya Thomas didn't even place top 5 so it looks like the competition is getting a lot stronger. We didn't even get to see the two fat asses this year, Cookie Jarvis and Eric "Badlands" Booker. Wonder if Chestnut can break 70 next year.

Guess there won't be any Leena coverage of Wimbledon. It's been pretty crazy so far.

Does Norman Chad do anything besides poker these days? He used to be a regular on the "Five Good Minutes" segment.

Well I totally forgot my 1-year anniversary of joining TSM but whatever...I'll won't forget the 1,000th post when it comes. And yes, the Alpha 5 avatar is money.

Still, the fact that the Bears instilled a zero-tolerance policy on Tank meant that being out at 3:30 A.M., driving at least a little impaired, and getting pulled over by the cops was good enough for them to get rid of him. I don't neccessarily agree with it but I doubt the Bears will lose sleep over the decision they made.

Wasn't Orton/Cena supposed to be a dream match of sorts? Both came in around the same time (2002). Both started out with somewhat generic characters (Cena with "ruthless aggression" and Orton as the new young hotshot feuding with the veteran Hardcore Holly). Both eventually became heels (Cena with his rapping and Orton with his RNN skits followed by Evolution). Both won mid-card titles then the big ones (Orton I.C. then World, Cena U.S. then WWE) Plus both are young and are two of the better looking superstars today. Would a Cena/Orton long-term feud feel fresh to you guys and would it go over well with the fans?

They replayed some clips of Vince on the Today show. He's definitely doing whatever he can to try to keep all the negative talk away from WWE, which I guess he should, but he knows a ton more than he's letting on (in regards to the steroids and the lifestyle and all that other stuff).
-
Yeah that guy was on Nightline or 20/20 a few months ago.
-
Well they're about to talk about it on ATH and I imagine on PTI and Sportscenter as well.

They did mention the Benoit issue today on Rome is Burning. Rome questioned why WWE would completely rule out steroids as a factor in the tragedy, basically coming to the conclusion that WWE's trying to save their own skin. One of the guests when asked if Vince was at fault, said something to the effect of "Well, is it a movie director's fault that one of his actors does the whole binging thing to get ahead?" He pretty much looked at Benoit as more of an actor using steroids to help get big and in shape to perform every time he came out than an athlete. All of them agreed that Benoit's had greater issues than just steroids and that this whole thing was caused by a number of factors.
