Certainly "0-16" is up there for sports stories of the year, just for the sheer ridiculousness of this happening in a parity-driven league like the NFL. Also there seemed to be an inordinate amount of gruesome knee/leg injuries this year.

Once again didn't buy many CD's this year, I'd say Paper Trail is the best out of all the stuff I really listened to. Tha Carter III was good, but definitely overhyped. I really need to expand my music library in '09.

Figure this guy can't last much longer. Chip Reese Classy guy, it's too bad he's gone now.

Guess this goes here.

Oh I knew about the Mayhew/Lewand thing. I was just hoping that the Lions would bring in a player personnel guy since neither Mayhew nor Lewand have any experience in that department. For all I know, Mayhew could end up being the next great GM, but after arguably the worst 8-year run in professional sports history, it's just not a good message to send to the fans. How about interviewing some qualified candidates first instead of promoting Millen's assistant? When you're 0-16, a full house cleaning should be expected. They're even keeping Jim Colletto (who sucked as OC this year) as O-line coach.

I don't really care that much about Marinelli getting fired. That was a given even with the clowns in charge. I just want to know who's gonna be calling the shots in regards to signing free agents, drafting players, and hiring coaches this offseason. It's not encouraging that Ford Sr.'s keeping holdovers from the Millen era (actually I think Lewand predates the Millen era but still...) to run the show so I'm hoping that someone else is brought in.

I would just die off if it was Colts/Giants (A.K.A. Manning Bowl I). I'd be fine with literally any other team making it than those two.

Not sure if we're taking anymore people or not. Anyways... Phil Ivey

I'm assuming we can choose the deceased, amirite? Stu Ungar

One last note on the Lions; they became the 1st team in NFL history to allow two 100-yard rushers and two 100-yard receivers in the same game (not to mention a 300-yard passer). At least they didn't break the record for most points given up in a season though so there's that...

I believe it was one of those Broncos teams in the 80's cuz they referenced it the past couple weeks on NFL Primetime (with Tom Jackson being on that team and all). Man, a lot of teams laid huge eggs today, with most of them needing a win to get in the playoffs or keep hope alive.

Lions moving up the draft board with the Cowboys shitting the bed (again) And hey, it looks the Lions got the better end of a deal for once so all is not lost. Of course the Lions need to pick the right players with the Dallas picks but it can't turn out any worse than Roy "1st down" Williams has for the Cowboys.

Somewhere in America, Jim Rome is popping champange... Anyways, not much I can say about this...WCF's death can't come soon enough.

Leigh Bodden got toasted by Driver on that one. This is the guy who they traded Shaun Rogers for...ouch.

Crosby damn near made a 69-yard free kick. Would've been nice to see (and appropriate, considering they're playing Detroit).

Man, that was a brutal game to watch at times. Longshore's regressed big time from a couple years ago (even the TD pass he threw looked like it was supposed to go to someone else). And then you had Miami's final drive which featured the worst clock management I've seen in awhile. The only good thing about this game was Jahvid Best, and he should've gotten more carries. Regarding the previous game, Wisconsin is just plain awful. The Big Ten could easily go winless if South Carolina can find a way to beat Iowa.

I'm up for it.

I'd put Miller at the top of those 3 as well. I was a Coors guy, but it just isn't as good as I first remembered.

Yeah, the Pistons have just been bleh most of this year. Even though they might get a decent seed, I just don't see Detroit doing much in the playoffs...maybe a 1st-round win depending on the matchup.

I don't like either...guess I don't have a taste for Wisconsin beer.

Speaking of this game, what's LeBron weighing in at these days? I've heard some media people saying that he's put on 20-25 pounds of muscle. That would put him at least in the freakin' 270's...surely that can't be true, can it?

Lions aren't winning this game. Let's look at a few key points. 1. Detroit hasn't won in Green Bay since 1991 (same season that the Lions won their only playoff game since 1957). Normally I would say that this doesn't matter, but recent history has shown that the Lions aren't good at bucking trends. Even without Favre, the Packers should still be able to take of business at Lambeau. 2. A lot of people thought the Lions had a chance against the Jags. The Jags had supposedly quit on Del Rio and were mailing it in. The result? 38-14. Jacksonville sucked before they played the Lions and they sucked afterwards, but when they played the Lions, it was no contest. 3. Many people thought the Lions could beat the Vikings at home, since they almost won at the Metrodome earlier in the year. It was close again but Detroit still found a way to lose. 4. Some people even thought that Detroit could beat New Orleans, reasoning that the Saints had nothing to play for and were a bad road team. Result? 42-7. 5. Now people are gonna come up with the same thing for the Packers, that they're out of the playoffs and have nothing to play for. Problem is that the Lions have a historically bad defense, an inconsistent offense, and bad in-game coaching. Plus the last thing the Packers want to do is end the season by losing to a 0-15 team. The Lions may keep it close, but they're still gonna find a way to lose like they always do. (Note: Detroit has now lost 21 of their last 22 games since starting 6-2 last season. Their only win in that time was at home to a bad Kansas City team.)

Well for once, Mitch Albom actually wrote something substantial about the Lions by being one of the few people to call out the owner.
