Lions signed Culpepper...meh.

Woody Paige needs to be taken out behind the barn. It was pretty amusing seeing him dressed as the Joker today.

Probably nothing. I'll just throw on a generic Halloween T-shirt and pass out candy at home. And my sister has that same IKEA lamp too.

Red Wings: Good. Pistons: Good for now. Would like to see the younger players develop, and of course, the vets need to avoid imploding come playoff time (which is what Michael Curry was hired to prevent). Tigers: They also need to develop their younger talent. The main thing though is fixing that bullpen. The Tigers could also use a starter or two, especially with Verlander coming off a bad season and Bonderman getting hurt. A couple of the veterans are gonna have to go as well. Lions: As bad as things are for the Lions, they're one good GM hire away from having a chance to be decent (and Bill Ford Jr., not Sr., needs to be making that decision). Use those extra draft picks and get some real players. You saw how quickly Miami and Atlanta turned things around in one year; with this supposed parity in the NFL, there's no reason why the Lions can't become at least an average team soon. On the field, they need to find out how good Drew Stanton is. I know some people are lukewarm on him, but as a 2nd-round pick, you have to put him on the field. If he doesn't pan out, Detroit will have a top pick to use on a QB. There needs to be at least 2-3 changes on the O-line for next year. The D needs a dominant nose tackle, a top-flight DE, a MLB, a SAM backer, a corner, and maybe a safety (not to mention a return man worth a damn). In other words, a LOT. UM Football: Need a new defensive coordinator. This year's team has a lot of veterans on D (including some pro prospects) but they've gotten smoked in most of their games. Michigan also needs a QB in the worst way. Steven Threet is doing the best he can, but he's just not good enough. Nick Sheridan is not D-1 material, plain and simple. They need to fix the O-line too. The good news is that the offense has a lot of underclassmen, so they should become more accustomed to Rich Rodriguez's spread offense. UM Basketball: I don't know, just get some players that can fucking make a shot.

It would help if he made the preliminary list first...

Besides Smith, I think Rod Woodson and Carter will also get in. I mean, Woodson was voted to the NFL's 75th anniversary team after only 7 seasons in the league for Christ's sake. With Carter, I guess they made him wait a year since they made Irvin wait (retarded logic but still...). I'm not sure who else is making it though.

You know there would be some sports columnist saying they should follow football and have a neutral area to play the World Series, so stuff like this doesn't happen. And it has to be played in a dome too! Only took like a minute on Around the Horn for that declaration.

Well, unless my players playing tonight have an epic meltdown, I'll be back to .500 and get off that losing streak that should've ended last week.
-
You're talking about the "non-brothers" right? EDIT: Probably goes without saying.
-
I'm looking at the Seattle/San Fran boxscore, and Leonard Weaver, a fullback last I checked, has 4 catches for 116 yards and 2 TD's...the hell?

Looks like Carson Palmer's done for the year. It wasn't that long ago that he was arguably the 3rd best QB behind Brady and Manning and had the Bengals in the playoffs. Since Kimo von Oelhoffen took him out though, he's seen numerous teammates show up on the police blotter, Chad Johnson go off the deep end, Marvin Lewis become essentially a lame-duck coach, and the Bengals go back to sucking. Plus Palmer's play was steadily going down before this latest injury. This guy can't catch a break. Fun Fact: Matt Cassel has started more games this season than Tom Brady, Carson Palmer, and Matt Leinart combined.

I hope they don't make a "Who's Ridin' Biden" XD

Sounds like Texas Tech has some kicking issues...

THESE Smarties: Also, Sweet Tarts are kinda chalky, but at least they have some taste to them. EDIT: alf beat me to it.

Yes. And I'm fine with the butterscotch candies as well. The worst for me is candy corn and those "things" that come in a orange or black wrapper (we covered these in another thread I think). Licorice doesn't excite me either (especially the black stuff, that's just plain nasty).

I was about 11 I think.

I'll also say Rays in 7.

I heard from a friend that lives in Milwaukee that the city voted against having an NHL team and that's how the Wild ended up in Minnesota. Any truth to that?

I don't have a problem with conference championship games, it's with the artificial partitioning of the conference and not matching up the two best teams I take issue with. It's going to be really lame if 12-0 Texas plays 9-3 Kansas for the Big 12 title instead of 11-1 Oklahoma. For another example, consider MFer's hypothetical Big 10 (11) + Notre Dame conference with divisional breakdowns that make the East absurdly stronger (usually) than the West. That's true about the balance of power being uneven in these conferences, but that's how my Big Ten scenario would likely play out. Like the Big 12, the Big Ten alignment would be based on geography and maintaining most rivalries (in this example, Minnesota/Wisconsin, Illinois/Indiana, Michigan/Ohio St., Michigan/Michigan St., etc...). I don't think the presidents (or whoever makes these decisions) ever intend to create divisions based on who "should" be the best teams year in and year out.

Imagine this... Big Ten East: Michigan Michigan St. Ohio St. Penn St. Notre Dame Purdue Big Ten West: Indiana Illinois Northwestern Wisconsin Minnesota Iowa Of course, Notre Dame will never give up their independent football status but it's something to think about.
