Maybe it is just me,but I thought ecw started to decline after 97,at least storyline wise. There were a few bright spots like rvd/lynn,awesome/tanaka,and tajiri/crazy but overall I thought it started becoming less interesting after 97.

Does Merril Hodge hate owens or the eagles in general ?I saw him pick dallas to win the division and talk again about how the eagles won't make the playoffs. Worst case scenerio is owens snaps and the offense goes back to struggling again. They still have a top 5 defense imo that can win alot of games by themselves.Of course I am biased because I like the eagles.

During flair/steamboat at spring stampede Heenan:I smell pinapple juice. During a match with marc mero in wcw,Tony is talking about johnny b badd having a boxing background so heenan says "He can put two dozen oranges in one crate in 30 seconds"

I like how everyone complains about wmIV being so long. There are only about 5 minutes seperating wmIV-VII.Maybe it is because wmIV is on 2 tapes on chv and v-vii are on 1 tape. -
Another I forgot. At summerslam 91 heenan goes to what is suppose to be hogans dressing room and challenge him on behalf of flair. Heenan:C'mon dummy.I don't have all day I'm a busy man.Right here is the dressing room of wwf champion hulk hogan. And I'm going to embarass him and show you what kind of a man he is. Hogan open the door I'm a busy man.Door opens. On behalf of the real world champion ric flair,I would like to chalenge you hogan at any time any place. Door slams shut. Heenan:Who do you think your embarassing ?You hear me ?You wouldn't do that if ric flair was standing here. You hear me ?Turn that camera off.Turn that damn thing off. Piper:He's used to getting doors slammed in his face. That's why he isn't married.

During bret/piper at wm8 Hit him with the bell. You know that saying. What the hell.Use the bell. During the rumble, monsoon kept egging heenan on.Heenan says, "We were jobbed monsoon. We were jobbed." During a match at survivor series 91. Heenan:Ya know I used to be world champion. Monsoon:Champion of what ? Heenan:Of my neighborhood During virgil/dibiase at summerslam 91 "I hope virgil didn't put a down payment on anything.like a boombox or anything." During a wcw ppv there was a match where the wrestlers were brawling at the announce booth.Dusty and tony got nervous and there was this exchange. Dusty:Get off my lap tony. Tony:I'm sorry dream. Heenan:Get out from under the table dusty.

"It's Payback time. We got four hurricanes last year" What the fuck kind of comment is that by Gov Bush?

Most of this has already been said but I will repeat it anyway. Build up the titles.Even if everything else is going wrong you can try to make the title matches the most important. Get rid of the womens/cruiser belts.Nobody cares about womens matches and the cw title will never be pushed so why have it.Nobody will miss either one. Build up the tag divisions.I don't care if they have to put two jobbers together. The new age outlaws were popular and they were two low card guys. You don't know what you have until you try. Keep the production guys. They are great. Like already said,Have hell in a cell or elimination chamber be a once a year event but only a once a year event. Have boxing like intros for the title matches. It will make them feel more special. Less ppvs.It won't happen but the only ppv that anyone cares about is wrestlemania. They all seem the same because there are too many. Bring back the survivor tag matches for the survivor series.Maybe 4 survivor tag matches and 2 title matches.I liked those. Keep the 3 man announce team. No backstage segments.I hate when you see two wrestlers talking in the lockerroom and its suppose to be secret. If its a secret then why is there a camera in the lockerroom for everyone to see you. Maybe have a top 10 like wcw did in the early 90s.It will give some matches more of a purpose. No ppv match packages during the ppv.It wastes too much time. Last,Have different style of matches.Every match has the same moves and it makes it very boring very fast.Lets say you have an 8 match card. Here is a single brand ppv. 1.regular 8-10 minute match with 2 good workers to get the crowd into it. 2.a cruiser weight type match 3.a title match 4.a squash type match to introduce/build up someone new. 5.a brawl/no dq style match 6.another title match 7.a filler match so that the crowd is ready for the main event 8.world title match

I found this at insidepulse.com [WWE] Tons of Bret Hart News Posted By Matthew Michael on 08.22.2005 DVD details, future plans, more... - Bret Hart has said that he decided to do the WWE DVD to preserve his legacy. As hinted by Ultimate Warrior in previously reported news, the thinking was that if Hart didn't do it, WWE would use the DVD to trash Hart. Lawler, Hogan, Michaels and possibly others had recorded interviews that said negative things about Hart. Benoit was one of the only interviewees that didn't say one negative thing about Hart. As part of his deal, Hart has veto power over DVD content, and will also help choose matches, and make sure the emphasis isn't on Montreal and Owen's death, although they'll be addressed. Possible matches, clips and angles that are being considered (the list will be finalized soon) are: -- Clips of Hart in Stampede -- Hart vs. Tiger Mask in New Japan from 1982 -- Hart Foundation skits -- Team Canada skits from 1997 -- Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith at Wembley Stadium in 1992 -- Hart vs. Austin at Wrestlemania 1997 -- Hart vs. Michaels at Wrestlemania 1996 -- Hart vs. Henning at Summerslam 1991 -- Hart vs. Benoit in WCW 1999 -- Hart vs. Steamboat in Boston, 1986 -- Hart vs. Savage at Saturday Night's Main Event, 1987 -- Hart vs. DiBiase at a house show in Odessa, TX, 1989 -- Hart vs. Andre in Milan in 1989 -- Hart Foundation vs. The Rockers at Saturday Night's Main Event in 1990 -- Hart Foundation vs. Road Warriors in 1991 -- Hart vs. Ric Flair for the WWF Title in October 1992 -- Hart vs. Yokozuna at Mania 1993 -- Hart vs. Bigelow in Barcelona 1993 -- Hart vs. Owen at Mania 1994 -- Hart vs. Yokozuna at Mania 1994 -- Hart vs. Waltman from July 1, 1994 RAW -- Hart vs. Owen in White Plains from September 29, 1994 (his favorite match vs. his brother) -- Hart vs. Hakushi from RAW July 24, 1995 RAW -- Hart vs. Isaac Yankem from Summerslam 1995 -- Hart vs. Smith PPV match from 1995 -- Hart Foundation vs. Team USA from Canadian Stampede 1997 -- Hart vs. Undertaker in the UK on PPV in 1997 -- Hart vs. Goldberg at Starrcade 1999 - Bret has no further plans to work with WWE after the DVD, although a Hall of Fame induction is possible. TNA had contacted Bret and Neidhart, thinking a Hart Foundation reunion would be good for the Spike TV debut. - DVD interview highlights included Vince saying he regretted what happened, but not taking full blame, talking about the time and circumstances being involved. Also, the WWE production people didn't want Hart using insider wrestling terminology or calling the company WWF due to legal reasons and to protect the business. For the record,I think hbk the wrestler is great and has been one of the best this year. However, after watching a vader shoot, let me tell this story about hbk. Vader was wrestling shawn at a house show prior to thier summerslam match. They planned most of the spots in the back.Vader missed a spot during the match.Shawn decided to break kcharacter and start yelling at vader telling him how the spot was suppose to go. In another match they had, vader picked shawn up and gave him a few puntches.Shawn told vader if he ever tried to work stiff again he would have him fired and sent home immediately.Vaders' argument was that he was hardly working stiff and if shawn thought he was too stiff in the match he should ask stan hansen about thier matches.
-
Hogan/Cena will backfire on them. The fans will completely turn on cena in that match. Hogan/Austin should happen in a larger arena and at a wrestlemania. It is the only match left that can draw a huge crowd.
-
The match with dibiase is from best of wwf vol19.It is a very good match. The match with bigelow is from a chv tape also, though I haven't seen it.
-
As I have said,Bret has had too many good matches to fit on 1 dvd set. There are a few things that could be changed but they are minor complaints at best. This looks like an awesome dvd set that I'm sure everyone will buy. I think matches vs dibiase, savage, steamboat, kid, hakushi make this more appealing.I was just hoping they would pull out a 30 minute harts/buldogs match that has never been shown.

My thoughts on these matches. -- Hart vs. Tiger Mask in New Japan from 1982 I remember seeing a hart/tm match and not liking it too much.Still something rare that will be a nice change of pace from the ppv matches. -- Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith at Wembley Stadium in 1992 Obvious choice. This will make the final cut. -- Hart vs. Austin at Wrestlemania 1997 My favorite match.Too bad the survivor series match isn't included but you can't have everything. -- Hart vs. Michaels at Wrestlemania 1996 I knew this would be on there.Good match but not one of his best.Bret, however, does think its one of his best.I don't know why. -- Hart vs. Henning at Summerslam 1991 Another no brainer.Kotr was better but more people remember this match. -- Hart vs. Benoit in WCW 1999 This was obviously going to be on the dvd. -- Hart vs. Steamboat in Boston, 1986 This is the same match from the chv tape.good stuff -- Hart vs. Savage at Saturday Night's Main Event, 1987 I have never seen this but heard it was good. -- Hart vs. DiBiase at a house show in Odessa, TX, 1989 Ive seen several good matches with these two. This will be no different. -- Hart vs. Andre in Milan in 1989 I guess bret wanted it on there. -- Hart Foundation vs. The Rockers at Saturday Night's Main Event in 1990 Nice to see a few hart foundation matches included. -- Hart Foundation vs. Road Warriors in 1991 Never seen it.Should be good. -- Hart vs. Ric Flair for the WWF Title in October 1992 Another no brainer. In a perfect world, thier ironman match from 1/9/93 would be included, this was a great match though. -- Hart vs. Yokozuna at Mania 1993 I never liked anything involving yokozuna. -- Hart vs. Bigelow in Barcelona 1993 Never seen it but I liked thier kotr match.should be good. -- Hart vs. Owen at Mania 1994 What a surprise. -- Hart vs. Yokozuna at Mania 1994 Nice to have brets' title win on here but I still don't like yokozuna matches. -- Hart vs. Waltman from July 1, 1994 RAW If anyone else has this or remembers it,knows how great it was.Waltman has said that bret made him look a million times better than he really was. -- Hart vs. Owen in White Plains from September 29, 1994 (his favorite match vs. his brother) This is not the ironman match but I'm sure its good. -- Hart vs. Hakushi from RAW July 24, 1995 RAW I don't remember this one.should be good -- Hart vs. Isaac Yankem from Summerslam 1995 I'm not sure why this is on here. -- Hart vs. Smith PPV match from 1995 Underrated match. This was very good. -- Hart Foundation vs. Team USA from Canadian Stampede 1997 Good match but very overrated imo.Still deserves a spot on the dvd though. -- Hart vs. Undertaker in the UK on PPV in 1997 I will definately not be buying the undertaker dvd now. This was awesome. -- Hart vs. Goldberg at Starrcade 1999 I don't know why they would want this on here but after the list above,it wouldn't matter if they had a match vs brooklyn brawler at this point. Overall-I might sleep outside walmart or bestbuy the night before this is released. A few I wish would have made it onto dvd but who cares.Much like ric flair,Bret has too many good matches to fit on a dvd.Even a 3 disc set.If these matches are confirmed it will be the best dvd they release.

Everyone considered one night stand to be a good show. Some went as far to say it was the best ppv in years. However, will it stand the test of time or will everyone look at it and say "it was good at the time" ?

Will one night stand stand the test of time
slabinskia replied to slabinskia's topic in The WWE Folder
On the subject of wrestlemanias,WM20 I thought was 3rd best behind 17,3.The only thing that hurt wm20 imo was the length.Cut 45 minutes out of it and its a really great show.I would have put wm10 on the list but outside of the 2 classics, the rest of the card was terrible. -

I have to disagree with anyone saying wm3 is better than wm17.WM17 is my favorite ppv ever. The card was stacked.Austin/rock,tlc,angle/benoit,vince/shane,and even hhh/taker were all good imo.The only real losers were apa/rtc and chyna/ivory and they were kept short.WM3 is a 2 match show.Maybe it is because I didn't see wm3 until a few years after it happened. As far as wm3 having more historical impact,it did. However, that is another reason why I like wm17 more.WWF/E went downhill for the most part after that show.It was the last great wrestling event imo. Another thing is that the matches were much better than I was expecting.Austin/rock didn't have great matches before that one so I was expecting a good, not great match.Vince/shane was something I didn't want to see at all and it was as good a match they could have had.I know I am one of the few but I also liked hhh/taker. -

The reason I posted the topic was because I don't think the show holds up very well now,and it was only 2 months ago.I think it shows how bad wrestling is right now,not how great the ppv was. -
Why do they keep blaming Bischoff for WCW failing?
slabinskia replied to zyn081's topic in General Wrestling
Bischoff is a large part of the blame for the guarenteed contracts. In my opinion the slow downward spiral started at starcade 97. Starcade 97 was where it slowly started to go downhill imo.It was suppose to be the blowoff to the nwo angle.I will give bischoff credit for being able to wait till starcade for hogan-sting.Most of the heels won the matches when ALL of the babyfaces should have gone over to kill the nwo.I would have had starcade 97 end with sting going over clean. After he celebrates, bret hart challenges him for the title and they go off the air while the 2 have a staredown. That was one scenario but there were many other bad booking decisions. Goldberg won the belt on nitro in july98 and lost to nash at starcade 98.I would have delayed goldberg winning the belt until starcade.A huge money match in goldberg/hogan was wasted on tv for the benefit of the ratings.I don't know when goldbergs' streak should have ended but losing to nash at starcade was not a great decision. There were enough good angles without the nwo on the shows.Goldbergs' streak,benoit-raven,jericho-malenko,booker t,etc. I think it was time for bischoff to go in 99 when he did but the problems started long before then. I am curious as to what the death of wcw book had to say. -
your right.dusty was funny.I used to like jim ross on commentary but he has been stale for so long now. Jim Ross:business is fixen to pick up right here. Jim Ross:Stone Cold he's a rattle snake. He's tougher than shoe leather.
-
Vince:1,2,HE GOT HIM NO HE DIDN'T. Tony Schivani:at any ppv you would here:What is going to happen between(insert name) ?TUNE IN TO NITRO TO FIND OUT Dusty Rhodes:CLUBBERIN,THEY BE CLUBBERIN ON SATURDAY NIGHT. and lets not forget:THERE'S A LADY IN THE MENS' BATHROOM.
-
I don't think starcade has had that many great matches. You can prabably fit all of starcades' great matches on those 2 discs.
-
Is anyone else going to either stop watching raw or start taping it when monday night football starts ?I have done this the last few years because I think there are very few times when raw has a must see show.
-
Were the plans for WM9 much different than what happened? It was the worst wm imo. Here is how I would have booked wm9.This would have required some wrestlers to have been in the company that weren't World Title Bret vs Hogan IC Title Hbk vs Marty Tag Title Money Inc vs Steiners Loser Leaves WWF Flair vs Hennig Razor Ramon vs Savage Undertaker vs Giant Gonzalas Yokozuna vs Hacksaw Jim Duggan Tatanka/Nasty Boys vs Headshrinkers/Bam Bam Bigelow Narcisist Lex Luger vs Bob Backlund
