I was fooled by several of Mick Foley's matches. First- I thought it was a legit stretcher job when Vader powerbombed him on the floor. Second- I would say I half believed that the match was over when he was thrown off the cage since it such a dangerous fall to take. Third- This one is embarassing now but I thought the Rock was shooting on foley in the rumble match with the way he was swinging those chairs. I am glad I wasn't the only one fooled by the Flair heart attack angle. Also, while I didn't think it was real, I was in shock watching the Jake/Savage snake angle on tv. That was some pretty over the top stuff for 1991.

If you could only watch one wrestler
slabinskia replied to Australian Pride's topic in General Wrestling
I can't believe I am the first to say it. RIC FLAIR. Of course, if your not a flair fan then you will question this pick but I can't believe nobody went with flair. Has his wwe run from 2002-present hurt him that bad ? If we went with japan then it's a close call between Kobashi and Misawa. -
What are some of the most disappointing matches of all time ? Two great wrestlers or tag teams that just couldn't put on a bad match but did. A few off the top of my head would be: Shawn Michaels vs MR. Perfect Summerslam 93 HHH vs Kurt Angle Unforgiven 2000 Chris Benoit vs Kurt Angle Backlash 01 (ultimate submissions match) Chris Benoit vs Eddy Guerrerro (any wwe singles match)

In 2002, the WWF really had enough talent to have 2 seperate brands and they couldn't have handled it much worse. Here is a list of some of the names they had under contract that year. They were not all on the active roster at the same time but it is very impressive no matter how you look at it. Steve Austin The Rock HHH Hulk Hogan Shawn Michaels Brock Lesnar Kurt Angle Undertaker Ric Flair Chris Jericho Chris Benoit Big Show Kane Scott Hall Kevin Nash Rey Mysterio Diamond Dallas Page Rob Van Dam Booker T Rikishi Edge Christian Taz Raven Dudleys Hardy Boys Guerrerros Lance Storm MR. Perfect Goldust William Regal Val Venis Perry Saturn X-Pac Billy Kidman Tajiri That is 40 guys right there and there were at least 30 more lesser names that they had. Pretty tough to screw that up but they did.

Why was Curt Hennig one of the last three people left in the 2002 rumble match ? Was he suppose to get a push ? It seems odd that with the amount of big names in the rumble that year that he lasted until the end.

Are there any links to the old rantsylvania website ?

I was checking out some of the best wwf matches of the 80s discs the other day. I was surprised how much pre 1985 stuff I liked. I thought there were 3 wrestlers that stood out as far as match quality goes. That would be Backlund, Slaughter, and Adonis. Anyone else like some of the matches from that time or at least thought they were better than expected ?

Since there was a post about the most underrated wrestlemania matches, I thought I would try summerslam. Here are a few that I think flew under the radar. Buldogs vs Rougeous ss88 Big Bossman vs Mountie ss91 Savage vs Warrior ss92 Val Venis vs Dlo Brown ss98

I wasn't sure if I should put this here or the old school forum so move it if it doesn't belong. Below is the link to the observer's wwe star ratings. What I am looking for is the good stuff from 2002-2005. While I have watched wrestling off and on my memory isn't too good from this time. Sad that I remember most of the good matches from before this time but lost interest after the awful invasion angle. From looking at the list it seems that Dave overrates a lot of matches which is why I can't just go by that. I know all about Angle/Benoit and the Benoit/HHH/Hbk matches so just recommend the less famous stuff. http://www.geocities.com/mfoy18/wwfstarlist.html

WM2 Funks vs Jyd/Santana WM3 Can Am Connection vs Orton/Muraco The six man match with the buldogs/hart foundation was something that looked great on paper but was nothing special. WM4 Demolition vs Strike Force Maybe it was just the mark out moment of demolition winning the belts for the first time but I liked this one.Steamboat/Valentine and Savage/Dibiase were also solid and that's about the only positive things you can say about that ppv. WM5 Rockers vs Twin Towers I thought this was a really fun match. Anyone agree ? Brainbusters vs Strike Force A good ten minute match that I wish had more time. They could have put on a great tag match with 20 minutes. WM6 Jake Roberts vs Ted Dibiase Too bad the only thing remembered about this match is the wave because it was a pretty good match imo. WM7 Rockers vs Haku/Barbarian This might have to be removed from the underrated list because everyone has agreed that this was a good match. This was a great ppv with several good matches other than Savage/Warrior. I also liked: Rockers vs Haku/Barbarian Hart Foundation vs Nasty Boys Hogan vs Slaughter Hogan brought his A game 3 years in a row. I liked his match with Savage. Most people liked his match with Warrior. This one gets no love for some reason. People forget that slaughter was very good in the ring back in the day and he was motivated in this one. I will list more later.

There was some talk on another board about the snl celebrity jeopardy skits. The exchanges between trebek and connery were priceless.Name some of your favorite quotes. To start off I will go with: Trebek: This is the sound a doggy makes. Connery: Moo Trebek: No Connery: Well that's the sound your mother made last night.

Dustin definately was in some great tag matches from 92-94. I don't know if it shows how good he was or that he was usually in the ring with some great wrestlers. Decide for yourself. On a side note, anyone else like the spring stampede 94 match between dustin and bunkhouse buck ? It was always a guilty pleasure match for me. I found just about everything on that ppv to be pretty good actually.

I just bought an HDTV. I got a 32 inch panasonic 720p. It looks awesome compared to my old 19 inch tv. I am no expert so is this a good hdtv that I picked out ?

Anything other than Hogan/Austin means a half empty arena. Sad to see that this is the situation they put themselves in.
-
My predictions. AFC: North: Bengals South: Colts East: Dolphins West: Chiefs Wildcards: Patriots,Steelers NFC: North: Bears South: Saints (seriously, don't overlook this team) East: Cowboys (pains me since I'm an eagles fan) West: Seahawks Wildcards: Eagles,Redskins

Whenever I look at a roster from the past, I always feel like I can put together a great wrestling card regardless of which fed it is. Anyone else feel the same ?
-
Anything from watts, awa, memphis etc that I may be overlooking ?
-
I've come up with 70 matches without much trouble.Throw me some matches that I might have missed.
-
This gave me my idea for my next list. It will be the top 100 NA tag matches. Since I haven't seen much good wrestling the last few years, the timeframe will be from 1984-2003. Feel free to throw some match suggestions other than the obvious. Remember, this is U.S. only. I will begin putting the list together and start the thread in about a week.

The problem is that while most of these matches are available already, how can you leave them off. HHH/Cactus,Angle/Benoit, and Austin/Rock are all on the short list for wwf/e matches of the decade. Hogan/Andre,Hogan/Warrior, Austin/Michaels are some of the most historic matches in wwf history. Having said that,a few matches I would have liked to have seen are: Backlund vs Adonis 1/20/82 This is one of the best wwf matches of the 80s imo. Adonis was very underrated. Hogan vs Race SNME I've never seen it and I've heard its one of hogans better matches. Flair vs Bret 10/92 or 1/93 Having the ironman handheld match is wishful thinking but not having Bret's first title win on here is questionable Rock vs HHH ironman Why do they totally ignore this one ?ditto HHH/Foley HIAC.

I would have gone with Hogan/Austin at WM18 and Hogan/Rock at WM19. I know they went with Hogan/Vince but I never got the appeal to that match.
-
Here is a question for everyone. Is this the best angle of all time ? If not, then what was ?
-
You know what I would love ? Have Vince go out and call out dreamer on his comments. Then he can tell him to join the kiss my ass club or be fired. While dreamer stands there wondering what he should do, the eliminators come out of the crowd and hit vince with total elimination. I know it would never happen but that would be a real mark out moment.

I was going to start this topic but someone beat me to it. Imo, this was the greatest wrestling angle ever. You just had no idea what to expect during the first 6 months of the nwo angle. Hogan was the last person anyone expected to be the 3rd guy. Basically anyone other than hogan could have been expected and looking back on it, anyone other than hogan wouldn't have worked. I didn't have the internet at the time so I thought it was going to be bret hart. Anyone else want to share who you thought was going to be the 3rd guy ? Btw, I did watch this ppv live and I don't think it would of had the same effect if I saw it at a later time.
