I suppose I should change that to: Lunar Phoenix returns to accompany Widow for Widow vs. Jobbs: Cage Match for the rights to set stipulations for Phoenix vs Jester @ Anglemania.
-
I'll also try and work up the OAOAST video between now and then.
-
Lunar Phoenix vs. Jester has already been announced. Stipulations will be decided this week on hD. If I can get my shit moved and get it wrote, b.

Hey guys - unfortunately, life kicked me in the face this week. We have to change living arrangements on short notice and my housemate and I have to move by Saturday. I won't be able to write Widow/Jobbs for LYS, but I might try and send a little blurb for the show explaining that next week on hD, the match will take place for free, omg goldberg!

Dumbest Comment of the Day at TSM
Turbo Lion replied to Cheech Tremendous's topic in No Holds Barred
The wording of it holds up. He's saying that "not any wrestler" would trade places with Rocky. Which I'm reading as, "some wrestlers might, but not each and every one would," which isn't an incorrect statement at all. There's a lot of assuming in that thread and in that folder that if Cena were offered the same success as Rock, he'd take it. He may not. But those circumstances have not arisen, so we don't really know. Some dudes might just really like to wrestle. -
I wouldn't mind seeing if TNA actually tries to save itself against Smackdown. Another Nitro/Raw'ish war would be kind of cool. But that's giving TNA way too much credit in that scenario. I like TNA, but I can see its head up its own ass pretty clearly.

John Cena calls out the The Rock for leaving wrestling
Turbo Lion replied to Enigma's topic in The WWE Folder
You know, I'd mark out for Cena vs Rock. Especially if Rock was heel. -
That's exactly what we have said about a station called "The Flying J" here.

Lunar Phoenix Return Match Fallout from Widow vs Jobbs f/Leap Year Spectacular

I was once Spider-Poet/SP-1. But I forgot the password after a while and don't use the same email address now (and don't even remember the old one as I tend to make new ones often when I get bored).

Alternate timeline paradox.

Do all the TNA fans here read Impact spoilers?
Turbo Lion replied to iggymcfly's topic in TNA Wrestling
I might read them but generally just take the show as it comes. -
Definitely an amusing mental picture. I can't quite get my head around it. It just seems that a two-person bike is two long and oddly weighted to get off the ground.

Some spoilers for this week here.... Finally caught this week's on the DVR. I really liked this one. I like that they're apparently embracing the expansive nature of a story that's essentially about people fucking with time to save the future. I really thought for a second that we'd see Future John Connor, but that was a great little fake out. I hadn't realized that Brian Austin Green was playing Uncle Reese - he's doing a really good job. I really also love Bear McCreary's music. His Battlestar Galactica stuff is incredible every time, and letting him play with the original Terminator themes is something I'd have come up with in a fanboy dream about a Terminator TV series.

True. I just read that in another thread, actually. I started watching wrestling again in the last month or so after some time off so I'm still catching up. Yeah. Bring Armageddon up somehow, either via announcers speculating, HHH bringing it up while trying to seduce Hardy, or Hardy bringing it up and that's some leverage for HHH to want to try and intercept Hardy on the way up. Innarestin'.
-
Beating Michaels and kicking out of the Pedigree at NWO might be good places to start with that. I mean, those aren't the same, but it might rattle him. If he's the cerebral assassin, he's got to know he's getting a little older and that Hardy has potential if it's nursed long enough.
-
The key to this is to make it a seduction, like most every "corporate" angle has been. Some older heel tries to catch Jeff's rising star and remake him for some other nefarious purpose. Usually this is Vince, but I'd rather avoid it being actually "corporate". Maybe get this heel involved in the title picture so it's personal when Hardy wins. Personally, all this is just an idea, and maybe not even a good one. I just thought of ML2 when the idea of Hardy maturing his look came up. If he grew up some, I'd mark for it - I like reinventions and re-imaginings and characters evolving no matter if its wrestling or anything else.
-
I'm pretty sure there's a portion of Hardy's fan base that would reject him trading out the goth'ish persona for something more "grown up". I mean, maybe not - maybe his fifteen year old goth fangirls will stick around no matter what. But if it were to have that negative effect, might as well milk it into a, "Has Jeff Hardy gone corporate?" thing. Tease it out, make it kind of a heel turn, then have him say, "Fuck 'em, I am who I am," which would instantly win back that fan base. It gives his character something to do, and would be sorta interesting. To me, anyway. I'm sure others can come up with better, but the idea of Hardy "maturing" his look instantly made me think of the Vaugn heel turn in that spoiler-tagged move above. And the response of the fans at the end of the movie when he returns to his old look. *shrug*
-
This may sound strange, but having Hardy "grow up" might be an interesting kind of thing. His fans might instantly reject that, leading to a hesitant, frustrated Heel Turn to occupy a title chase. Culminates in Hardy returning at Summerslam all gothed, which might instantly earn him quite a bit of momentum, gives him an instant face turn, and makes for an organic kind of maturity for him. Spoiler tags are for anyone who hasn't seen the movie I used as an example. Because I know someone would bitch about it.

Phoenix Interview Jester vs. Some Jobber Dude (for real this week - lots of drama last week got in the way)
-
So, I guess this is an appropriate place to ask this: Is Angle a dick in real life? Or does he just always stay in character when he's out in the media? I keep reading interviews and stuff and he comes off as a jerk.
-
Agreed. The "action beat every ten pages!" rule is wearing thin.
-
I hate that. It's the same rationale that says we should feel ashamed for having wealth because third world countries don't. The point isn't to make everyone else poor, the point is to equalize standards of living for everyone. The point isn't that video games make people unhealthy, it's that unhealthy people mis-use resources and activities that are available to them. Healthy people can handle video games.

... .... hell, why not? It'd at least make a fun clip for Conan one day.

Joe might get some kind of immediate push in WWE, but my gut tells me he'd get lost within four months.
