Here's a question for you.

A parabola has a turning point of (1,2) and passes through the point (3,2), what's the equation?

Turning point? You mean vertex?

Here's a question or two for the MIGHTY MANLY MAN(Triple M), Dames:

Why do people hate on Ravers so much?

Are there enough 18 and up clubs in New York to justify a trip before I turn 21?

Should I start a new thread for each installment of the Washington DC Random Observations column?

How over are the various posters with big-ass post counts, when you really look at their appeal and ignore their count? I figure as the overlord of the board you would know how well certain posters are received.

Does anyone read the stuff I write for the site? Anyone at all?

No, I mean turning point. At least that's what I remember being taught.

[math nerd]If you're referring to what I think you are, the ending point of a parabola where it turns around to curve back the other way, then that's called a "vertex" in America. And the equation in that case would be y=2. [/math nerd]

Okay, well I'm an Australian, and we always called it the turning point, for some unknown reason. Maybe that's what the Brits do, I dunno. But granted, most people, including the big Australian mathematicians call it the vertex....

Gotta love this forum

And the correct answer is y= (x-1)² - 2

Kotz: Most clubs up here in Philly and NY are 17 and up.

I've been saying for YEARS that I've been dying to go to Texas for its women. I might just take you up on that.

Hey, make sure you stop by MD on your way down there. B-)

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?

Not for a parabola which includes the points (1, 2) and (3, 2).

Hell, I can answer that one. Due to one day, I can safely say that it takes 214 licks to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop.

Carry on.

When did Dames become MrZsasz?

I have no idea why I answered his questions.

I think I didn't relize what I was posting till it was just too late.

Don't get angry 90% of you have the same problem.

Yeah, I was just joking anywho, loved your Carmen Sandiego comment tho.

Anyways, Dames, If you could switch places with any person living or dead (presumably when the dead person is living, don't want you switching with a really dead person) who would you choose?

Dames: Same question as above, only you must pick someone from the board.
