Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

It's not a deus ex machina because the answer comes from within the characters and has been set up quite laboriously; if Giles were to suddenly pull a magic ninja throwing star out of his pocket, throw it into the portal, and then say "Oh, I thought that might save the world and it did - yay!", then I'd be agreeing with you.

Okey-day, my main beef with the whole Buffy-Dawn-Key scenario is this:

Dawn is made of *rolls eyes* Buffy, right? The "Summers' blood" thing? Got it.

But her physical body was just a sheath. A hiding place for the monks to stash former mystical floating balls of green energy. She's the one thing Glory must find to serve her purpose.

No part of Buffy was ever the Key. So her sacrifice should have meant jack. And no amount of retconning will make me think any different.

In complete agreement on Glory's minions though.

What I gathered was that Buffy had become attatched to Dawn. She never had a sister and she liked having one once Dawn arrived.

I think she carried enormous guilt for having to kill Angel since it trapped his soul in that place. So she didn't want to make the same mistake with Dawn.

Yeah Dawn was pretty much a carrying case for the key, but Buffy had developed a sister-like relationship with her. And once they stopped the ritual the key means nothing and Dawn carrys on a normal life.

Buffy probably desperately wanted to find a different way to stop it besides killing Dawn, to make up for killing Angel and that's why she refused to let Dawn die.

She refused to let Dawn die because her mother had just died and Dawn was her only family left.

Not only did the monks make it so that Buffy and company thought that Dawn had been there all along...

but after their mother died, Buffy's relationship with Dawn changed from begruding unreal sister to mother.

She would NEVER let Dawn die after all that. Regardless of the cost.

In other news, it looks like they'll just be repeating season 7 thus far until the middle of January and a new ep roll around. "Beneath You" is on tomorrow night, and one of the better episodes of this season, so tune in if you haven't seen it.

Damnit I hate waiting until the middle of January to see new episodes.

Well atleast I can catch season 6 from the beginning on FX. I just got hooked on this show full time this season. I watched scattered episodes before. I watched all of the marathon and the rest I've gathered from you guys.

I watched the rerun of "Beneath You" tonight. That was some awesome acting by James Marsters.

I don't know why but I got a little misty eyed during the final scene. That was some powerful stuff.

Indeed. Marsters deserves SOME sort of recognition if he continues the job he's done so far this year. However, that'll be nearly impossible since the people who give out Emmy nominations seems to have a hard-on for HBO. I guess BTVS isn't "serious" enough to be a drama and not "humorous" enough for a comedy. Damned to be stuck in classification purgatory.

It isn't HBO's fault that the Emmys have never even NOMINATED any part of the best show on TV.

Joss actually got a nomination for "Hush", but other than that, no major nominations, just technical ones (of which they have won a few).

Hmm, apparently we won't have to wait until January for new episodes. December 17th's show is new, titled Bring on the Night.

Between watching the episode last year when Buffy told Spike that he's beneath her, and watching last nights repeat where he says "I dreamed of killing you. At least I think they were dreams". And Spike telling Buffy in the last new episode that she had no idea what he was capable of...

I think the demon that took over Spike is what they raised.

That's what Buffy told was beneath her, and what Spike drove out when he got his soul back.

Interesting, but Spike's inner demon should still be with him. Just dormant like Angelus while the original soul's in control.

Unless African tribal demon magic works its wonky ways better than Orb of Thessullah magic. But that would mean Spike wouldn't be able to morph AT ALL, and from the eps we've seen we know he can vamp-out at will.

He can only vamp-out, as you called it, when he hears that music. It's the chip, courtesy of The Initiative, that does it. The first knows this and thus sings it.

That's what I've gotten from it all, anyway.

And as for his soul, it's there, with the demon, too. He just now can feel all the people he hurt as a vampire. Feel their pain, that type of deal.

But unlike Angel's, there isn't a trigger to take the soul out(like a moment of happiness). It's there for good(or until someone finds a spell and uses that), and he'll have to just live with it.

I don't think that's correct. Doesn't he "vamp out" when he fights Anya in "Beneath You"?

Huh?

Spike's recent string of feedings have nothing to do with it. He can change his face from "normal" to his true vampiric self whenever he wants.

If the demon was driven from him fully, he wouldn't be able to do that. Same with Angel.

In the U.S? Two, and the third on the way on January 7th.

I think they're up to five overseas.

Yeah, I just noticed that the other day, but then I saw some people talking about it on another message board and they said it was just rumor at this point. I hope it's not that though, as I need my Buffy.

As for the DVDs, Season Five was just released last month overseas. The first two seasons of Angel are also available over there. They get like everything on videotape as well (like Season Six is already out).

If the demon was driven from him fully, he wouldn't be able to do that. Same with Angel.

The demon is still in there, like I said, it just has to share the same space and conflicts with his newly acquired soul.

But he hadn't been feeding when he got the soul back. The chip continues to work. When he rammed that rod into the man's shoulder in "Beneath You", he screamed out in pain. Same when he punched Xander a few weeks back.

Him changing from normal-faced to vampire-faced has nothing to do with the chip. Any and all vampires have the ability to do that. But he couldn't feed on humans regardless, because of the chip.

He's freaked out now and gone all baddie when the First sings that little song. He attacked and tried to kill Andrew after it, and he was going to do the same to Buffy in the cellar the week previous after hearing that song.

The chip is still there, the Initiative was going to use him as a weapon(hence why they were capturing, not killing, all those demons, so they could use them for themselves - and to build things like Adam), useless against humans until the trigger was "pulled" so to speak. That song is that trigger. The First uses it to control Spike and get him to sire vampires(like he was doing), and to kill Andrew.

Didn't work, so the First used Spike's blood to bring up that uber-Vampire(which I assuming and others have suggested, is the first Vampire, all demon with no human aspects in him, none of the human blood or anything).

Of course, I could be completely wrong here. But that's how I've interpreted everything.

Once again, huh?

Which was mentioned in the original post, which you "corrected".

.......

NO ONE MENTIONED THE CHIP.

The chip has jack to do with the conversation. Nor does the First's influence over Spike. Neither was metioned in the context of the conversation until *you* brought them up. Why you did so is beyond my scope.

No one's questioning that Spike wasn't under the First's control. So I don't get why you're lecturing us on that.

I think the demon that took over Spike is what they raised.

I took that as bps saying the demon's been driven from him fully, and that's what the First raised. I said that'd be a neat idea, but Spike's *still* a vampire, so the demon's still in him.

Where'd you get all this other junk?

Of course, I could be completely wrong here. But that's how I've interpreted everything.

You could be. Or I could be a jaded asshole for no reason.

I think you mistook a few things, and ended up WAAYYYYYY out there in your rebuttals.

Geez he wasn't being mean about it. No need to call him an asshole.

*sigh*

When and where did I call him that?
