Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 8, 2003 That's a salient point. The show was moving along at its normal clip for the first six episodes, but starting with Conversations With Dead People it's been on full-on over-arching storyline burn. Season 6 was all pretty detached with very gradual storylines on all fronts, and Season 5 almost continuously focused on the Glory story with the exceptions of Fool For Love, I Was Made To Love You, and The Body. But there were always more subplots behind it. I think this season has been great so far, but it pretty much is one giant plotline now. The only thing substantive beneath the surface is the nature of the Spike/Buffy relationship. I just hope they can keep it up, and somehow find a way to inject at least *one* comedy ep into all of this.
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah. "Anne" is a great episode. As a matter of fact, the only episode in season three that I don't like so much is "Beauty and the Beast," for its heavy-handed domestic abuse metaphor. I've browsed through some of the special features on the DVDs already; the interviews and featurettes are great. Can't wait to hear some of the commentaries... I'm actually watching that episode as we speak. It is very good, with the domestic abuse metaphor. That guy just bugged out and turned all veiny and striked his bitch like that. So far Season 3 has been pretty good. 3 3/4 episodes into the season, and it has been good. Faith is just so hot, I can't get over it. Mole
Guest Cavi Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Awesome sig pic Cavi. When's the next new episode? I hate all this waiting around can't we just have a steady stream of new episodes? Thanks. TVGuide lists next week's show as being a new episode, though that is puzzling since they didn't have a trailer at the end of last night's ep. Guess we will know once UPN updates their schedule. Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yeah, I'm watching Season 3 for the first time now too. Just finished the third episode. Jesus, can Faith get any hotter or what? Xander's obsession with her naked stories was particularly amusing. Tonight's ep was pretty good stuff. The only useful SiT is Kennedy, which usually points to her dying at some point. It's kind of odd how Dawn seems mature compared to anyone, let alone a bunch of potential slayers. Possibly pointing to her becoming the Slayer. Giles seems like he's alive, simply because he was the one really pushing the Eye on how to stop the First. Maybe not alive, I guess, but definately not the First. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 This arc of the story this season reminds me of 24 from last season. They spent the first half accomplishing alot of what I thought the whole season would be...and now the story is going to have to switch to a bigger picture that I hadn't really thought much about, but has been set up from the beginning. Fuckin Pistons are on next Tuesday in Buffy's time slot, and I checked my UPN's programing chnages, they had a thing saying Buffy would not air this week. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Just checked Buffy.com, no Buffy till the 21st, plus SPOILER!!!! ----------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, January 21, 8PM ET/PT "POTENTIAL" Buffy enlists Spike's aid in graphic, intensive training of the Potential Slayers in anticipation of the expected cataclysmic return of The First. Meanwhile, Willow performs a spell that reveals that another unexpected Potential Slayer is living in Sunnydale. -------------------------------------------------------- SON OF A BITCH! You just know this is going to be that Dawn piss ant. I could liked liked Dawn, had they grown her the hell up last year. They kept her a crybaby all season and waited till the last friggin episode to give her any toughness at all. It was such a great season...
Guest LaParkaMarka Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Potential SPoiler Space Well, if it is little Dawnie, how is that even possible? Last time I checked, she was a glowing ball of light, as opposed to an actual human female. I suppose they might explain it with the whole Buffy's DNA thing. Actually, that seems a little more reasonable than her actually being chosen or whatever. *sigh* I wish we could just have Faith: The Vampire Slayer. Who else would be happy with that? Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I wish we could just have Faith: The Vampire Slayer. Who else would be happy with that? If they're going to carry on the show next with with a Slayer other then Buffy I'd rather it be Faith. I don't even think I would watch "Dawn: The Vampire Slayer"
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Yes, I hope Faith comes back. She is just so damn hot. I love Eliza Dushku.
Guest Kingpk Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I would assume we're going to see the Miss Smartmarks runner-up sometime before the end of the season. Where's all the Dawn hate coming from? It's not like she's been THAT annoying this year.
Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Sorry King, but I've hated Dawnie since pretty much day 1. If she wasn't complaining about Buffy getting all the attention, she was going all "Boo-hoo no one likes me I'm going to STEAL to express my displeasure!" and generally being a drag on the show. Now all of the sudden she's acting like she wants to be a badass with very little to no transition between the two extremes. I just don't like the character, and Buffy shoulda chucked her into the vortex last season even if it meant opening up Earth to Glory's hell dimension. If Dawn (whom, last time I checked, was indeed a big ball of light and energy thanks Marka) is a SiT and takes over next season, all I can say is is that at least I get another hour on Tuesdays to do somehting else. cawthon777 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 Great show last night. Okay, my thoughts... The Giles / Andrew moment came when they were talking about the raising of the Ubervamp. We already know Andrew knew about that thing in the school basement. No idea how it ties together. There is no way that Giles (whether dead or alive) is the First. I mean, if he was the First, why throw the Scoobies a bone by finding out why the First is all pissy. Okay, Giles and Willow knew by episode 2 or so that there was something REALLY bad coming (that's why she went home early) so maybe he put some sort of protection spell on himself or had the covent protect him (ala the last ep of Season 6 and his magic brawl with Willow). LOVED the dead slayer angle. That was great TV. I didn't like that chick from beginning because all she did was discredit Buffy. The new SiT should be swiftly dealt with by the First and end my pain. I'm getting the feeling that Xander might be killed off...same with Anya (especially since she's gone after this year). And when Faith is mentioned on every other episode, you can pretty much count on something happening... If Buffy sacrifices herself...AGAIN and Joss lives up to his promise of making this the ultimate death season as well as the last - then I could see the story continuing (either on Angel or as a new show) with Faith as the slayer with a pick of the old Scoobies and the new characters (Andrew, Dawn, SiT, etc) to back her up. "Uh...sheilds up! Deflecter sheilds up!" - Andrew ... nerds are cool
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted January 8, 2003 I, personally, want Faith to come back, and then leave and form her own spin-off show starring her, Andrew, and Anya as an A-Team style crimefighting crew. It's obviously the best decision for everyone involved. Also, a thought: for any of you guys who are posting spoilers on this thread, would it be possible to change the text color so it has to be highlighted? I love discussing the show, but I'm avoiding all spoilers for this season...and while the spoiler warnings are great in themselves, the problem is that when sigs load they scroll the page back up, even if I've gotten past them. Of course, since the board has both black and white backgrounds, I don't know what color text you could use...
Guest Mole Report post Posted January 8, 2003 First off, if Dawn becomes the slayer, I will still give the show a chance. If Joss is still writing it, and if next season is anywhere as good as this season, I'm there. I just watched "The Wish" from season 3. That is one of the best episodes I have EVER seen. Holy shit, it was good. That is all I gotta say about that. What did you fellas think of it? Mole

cawthon777 0 Report post Posted January 8, 2003 The spoiler is correct, I just didn't want to say anything before. "The Wish" is maybe the single best episode of Season 3 (although "Amends" has to be right up there...and it does feature our favorite resident Season 7 villian, the First). Guest The Hamburglar Report post Posted January 8, 2003 The best episode of season 3 is the Zeppo. Sheer genius that, and encapsulates everything BTVS is about.

Guest Mole Report post Posted January 9, 2003 I take that back "The Zeppo" was actually pretty good. I didn't get the concept of it until the ending. Still no WHERE near as good as "The Wish."

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2003 Apparently, word out is that we won't get a definitive answer as to Giles' mortality until episode 7.13. Where did you hear that? If that's true then we only have two episodes to go. I wouldn't worry about there not being comedy episodes left. Next episode Buffy and Spike are doing a SiT Boot Camp. That ought to create a few laughs. With Ubervamp dead I think the First will back off for a few episodes while it manipulates others into a doing a new plan. Guest Mole Report post Posted January 9, 2003 Wow, I just bought Season 3 yeasterday, and I only have three episodes left. The one about double Willow, can't really remember the title, was pretty good too. I am liking season 3 more than season 2, and I liked season 2 a whole bunch more. I'll give my reasons why when I am done with it all, which will be tomorrow. Mole EDIT:The Mayor is such a cool bad guy.

Great season, 2-5 was a hell of a run (still don't dig 6 as a whole) And the episode you're talking about with double Willow is called Doppelgangland.
