I loved all of the little things they threw in there tonight. References to Angel leaving, Dawn's past, CECILY...DRUSILLA~!

 

I wish the crossover wasn't out of order as technically, "Orpheus" should have aired after this ep.

I thoroughly enjoyed the smackdown © given to Wood by Spike. Yes, I know this is the Buffy Universe and no good guy is 100% good and no bad guy is 100% bad - it's all moral relativism - but I like Spike, I don't like Wood and so it's all good. That kinda rhymed there at the end ...

This episode was great. Buffy is on a role this season, with "Him" being the only episode I didn't like.

 

I've come to the conclusion that every flashback episode is awesome. I haven't seen one of them that wasn't good. The only one that was weak was the Anya one, but it still was pretty good.

 

I really hope that the finale is two hours. It should be, because they have done it 4 times in the past. I think it was four times, but I really don't know.

I read that the finale will just be one hour. Makes sense since there are five episodes left, starting April 22 and ending May 20, which is five weeks (and two hour shows are always counted as two eps).

 

Season Six was the only season to end with a two hour finale ("Two To Go+Grave").

Technically speaking...all finales are one hour...they're just two parters...

 

Sometimes the two parts don't even air the same night...(season 3)

 

A 5 part final sounds better than a 2 part to me...

Well...I'm prety certain that's what it said in the Entertainment Weekly article about SMG quitting the show.

 

Season 1 is interesting. The "finale" can be looked at two ways. It could be seen as a stand alone ep since the ep revolves around a prophecy and battle that she learns of all in the one show...BUT it's the episode before that where that plotline truly begins with Angel and Giles discussing, and Angel retreacing said prophecy.

 

Season 2 we all know was a 2 parter.

 

Season 3 was a two parter...but the 2nd half didn't air for like a month because they blew up the school and it was close to Columbine...which WB didn't like.

 

Season 4 was a one part.

 

Season 5 was a two part.

 

Season 6 was a two part.

So are Halfrek and Cecily (sp?) the same person? (I don't mean same actor since I know that. I mean same character) She recognized Spike as William in "Older and Farther Away"

I think it was mentioned in another eppy that they were the same person. At the least, I think many people just have assumed they're the same person.

I don't think it's ever been officially confirmed, but I assume Cecily is Halfrek. The thing up in the air though is whether Halfrek was posing as Cecily, or Cecily became Halfrek.

 

The cold 'you're beneath me' line uttered by Cecily, could very well lend proof to ruthless tendencies, needed for being a vengeance demon. And then it was that line that lead Spike to giving into Dru so easily. Maybe D'Hoffryn was impressed with her ability to drive someone to something like that. And WITH that, or something else later, D'Hoffryn chose her.

Anyone find it slightly intresting about the difference between Liam/Angelus and William/Spike in how they treat their relatives after becoming vampires.

 

Liam, being a drunken louse was constantly berrated by his father, tormented in fact about him never amounting to a hill of beans. So one of the first things the newly created Angelus, in his rage to prove that he did make himself, in his eyes, better than his father, does is kill and eat his family

 

William on the other hand, as we see in the last Buffy ep

was so much a momma's boy that pretty much the first thing he wants to do is to sire her so she can be with him for eternity. (BTW, classic Dru with the cringing at the notion of her new love wanting to bring his mother along for the ride)

 

Just something strangly intresting about the two characters.

Another point to my Angelus/Spike comparison is that Angelus WAS Angelus from day one (as seen in a S1 Angel episode, not sure of the title offhand though) while William didn't seem like the vamp we've come to know as Spike

It's really interesting how "human" Spike has always been. He really loved Dru, he definately cared about his mother, and this was all after becoming a vamp. I guess the demon that got into young William wasn't a very powerful one, as William had a lot of human tendencies.

I think maybe the fact his mother rejected him after she turned into a vamp helped fuel the fire into him becoming "Spike". In the Spike flashback from Season 5 (Fool for Love, I believe), post-mother Spike seemed very gung-ho and wanted to burn the whole fucking city to the ground.

Finally saw the ep this weekend...and another 2 straight Tuesdays of basketball instead of Buffys. But they're reruns.

 

Any episode that goes into Spike's past is good for me...I like how they worked the song trigger and everything. And how it stopped working when Spike came to grips with his mom.

 

I like Wood and all, but I would have been pissed off if he killed off Spike.
