Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

IIRC that's only the second nomination of any kind for the show (the other being the Hush script).

The show has been nominated numerous times in the past, though outside of Best Writing for "Hush", they all have been for the technical side of things. It has actually won two awards, both in 98 - one for makeup in "Surprise/Innocence" and the other for Chris Beck's scoring in "Becoming".

Is this the longest thread this board has seen? If so, awesome!

Anyway, Gingerbread had one other redeeming quality... Sarah looked damn fine with the darker lipstick and gray outfit. Like when she stops the jocks from beating on Michael and harassing Amy. Oh man... just amazing.

:)

"Gingerbread" didn't do much for me. I've only seen it once, but I don't remember liking it that much.

One thing that I like about season 4 DVD is the commentary. Out of the 6 episodes that have it, I have watched 5 of them. I didn't like "Superstar" that much, and Jane Espensen's commentary from past seasons SUCKED, so I don't have any plans to watch it.

On the UK DVD's, is their commentary on them too? At the end of the summer I am going to buy a region free DVD player, so does the Buffy DVD's have commentary of them?

And bps, when are the columns going to get posted? Any time soon?

Like someone said earlier, "Gingerbread" is only really notable for the debut of Rat Amy

Yeah, the UK and US DVDs have the same extra features and whatnot.

Alright, that is good. I guess it will be my big purchases this year. Man, I am just getting a region free DVD player for Buffy and Angel.

Whoo hooo. I'm trying out my new DSL and I downloaded "Chosen" to my computer.

It had perfect picture and perfect sound. Pretty deep sound I might add. The theme song had a lot more bass and sounded really cool.

I hate you. Figures the show didn't end til the week after I left college, with a kick ass network. I have been trying to download it on a 56k for the last month and a half.

I liked Joyces slow turn from being worried to being a Salem witch hunter. It was well done. I also stand by my "Kids=EVil=good plotline" belief. Xanders paranoia over his willow kissage and his ackwardness around OZ (especially in the lunch line scene.) to their working together by the end. And everything that came out of Cordy's mouth was funny. "How many times have you been knocked out anyway?"

Guess I am really in the minority on this one.

OK, what was the point of Scott Hope? I just finished Homecoming and throughout the episodes with Scott in them... I found very to no purpose of him. I thought it was to add some feul to Angel coming back... and Buffy trying to move on in life, but it was so quick that it didn't even do that.

It was Buffy's attempt to have a normal relationship with a normal guy and once again it proves that it is impossible. I think it was meant to show how much more Buffy and Angel were meant for each other. He served his little purpose.

Season 3 had commentaries, none by Joss I think though. I hate how they'll tell you how many commentaries they have, but don't tell who's on them.

Side note...while looking up old Buffy casts a while back, the guy who plays Scott Hope had a regular charcter on "Queer As Folk"...so maybe him and Buffy just weren't meant to be

Well, Holden said that he was gay in "Conversations with Dead People" Of course they weren't meant to be.

Funniest Line from Gingerbread:

"One of these day's you're going to wake up in a coma!" by guess who?

Oh, and...

Xander and Oz try to break into the witch burnings, but run into a group of men gaurding the door.

"Oh, come one Guys, we want to be part of the hate!"- Xander

Men just look at Oz and Xander

"You guys know you're nuts, right?"- Oz

Oz to willow:

Oz: I haven't seen you all day. Where you been?

Xander: Not with me. No sir. Ask anyone. No.

Buffy: Is Willow around?

Xander: How can I convince you people that it's over? You assume because I'm here, she's here, that I somehow mysteriously know where she is.

Buffy: Those her books?

Xander: Yeah, she's in the bathroom.

Xander: I'm getting sick of the judgement. The innuendoes. Is a man not innocent until proven guilty?

Buffy: You are guilty. You got illicit smoochies, gonna have to pay the price.

Xander: But I'm talking about the future guilt. Look, everyone expects me to mess up again. Like Oz. I see how he is around me. You know, that steely gaze... that pointed silence.

Buffy: 'Cause he's usually such a chatterbox.

Xander: No, but it's different now. It's more a verbal nonverbal. He speaks volumes with his eyes.

and of course

Buffy: Did I get it?...Did I get it?...

Whats not to love.

One other thing I noticed for some of Season 2 and Season 3...

Ethan Rayne kicks ass. He's a pretty good villain if I do say so myself. I really like that he wasn't a big bad nor was he a bitch side-kick. He just did his thing, got beat up, and would run off, only to do it again. He needed more love in the later seasons though.

That reminds me of one of my favorite scenes with Ethan. Where Ethan is hiding out and when Giles leaves he comes out and starts cutting a monologue, but Giles comes back in and says, "Is anybody here?" and Ethan says bloody hell or something like that.

Giles: Nothing is gonna happen. *leaves crypt*

Ethan: I wouldn't say that. I wouldn't say that at all. In fact, Ripper, old mate, I'd say something rather interesting was about to happen...

Giles: *re-entering* Did someone...?

Ethan: Oh, bugger! I'd thought you'd gone!

Sadly, that's the last we saw of Ethan, wasn't it?

I wonder what happened to him after the Initiative was broken up.

"A New Man"--Ethan's s4 appearance--may be my favorite season 4 episode. A lot of the comedy moments on Buffy aren't as great the second or third time, but this episode gets me EVERY time. Superb editing, and Ethan is in top form throughout. I would have loved to see him come along halfway through Season 7 working for the First, or sometime in season 6 just for the glee of fucking up everyone's lives more than they already were.

And an Ethan ep was generally a Giles-centric ep, which...well, after "A New Man," we never really got 'em anymore.

I'm pretty sure that if ASH didn't want to spend more times with his babies since he was missing the in between (a shiney silver dollar to anyone that gets THAT reference) we would have seen Ethan again.

The part with Fyarl Giles in Xander's basement in "A New Man" always cracks me up.
