Guest Kingpk Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Gee, who do you think "her" refers to? For those of you who are slow, it probably means it's something powerful only the slayer can use.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Yeah who is Dawn to make that statement? And why kick her out of the house? Last time I checked it was Buffy paying the bills on that house. I guess they saw her as a downer for the girls. And PK I know "who" it refers to, but what is "it"?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 SWEET FUCKIGNDJSFKL%&^(**(^@!%!(&)! I hate shows that are supposed to frustrate for the sake of frustrating because goddammit, I'm frustrated! I am leaning more toward Buffy's side, cause the Potentials are all a bunch of whining bitches, and Anya should have been pimp smacked, and Dawn... well, Dawn always should be killed-off... I can understand Giles' heat, but it's weird to see Xander and Willow go against Buffy's plans. Though it kinda makes sense in that they were the two big Buffy supporters (esp Xander). So I don't quite like the split (am I supposed to? I dunno). In either case, right now, I'd like to see Caleb slaughter everyone else just for their ignorance. "What has Buffy done?" jesus fuck, how many times does a chick need to die to get some r'spect? I am telling you guys, a Xander, Spike, Andrew spin-off sitcom would OWN~! The Onion Blossom was such fucking genius. AWESOME! Angel needs Andrew... WTF is up with the "Goodbye to you" Michelle Branch song? Worst...Choice...Ever. LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I don't know I'm kinda digging the song in this use. Yeah I think the point is everyone's on edge. No one was 100% right. They're just on edge and pissed. It's setting up division from within to make things look bleak.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I know, AND IT'S WORKING! DAMN THEM~! Eugh, the song is too up-beat and crappy for Buffy. I'm not expecting Greenday or Sarah McLaughlin, because those are played, but something a lil more depressing. Jesus Christ, that song does not hype me up AT ALL.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I like the song by itself and all...but just doesn't seem fitting. 3 episodes to go, and if you take out commercials it's only about 2 hours and 15 minutes to go. Too bad they couldn't have worked Caleb into a season earlier...I would have loved him in a whole season as a big bad
Guest Mole Report post Posted April 30, 2003 No way, that song doesn't work at all. Buffy isn't really a 'pop' song show, atleast I'd like to think that. Once again, what does the scribe exactly say? I can't really remember that well, but they were talking about Buffy. Right after Spike read it, they shot right to Buffy. I knew that Faith and Wood were going to hit it off. When those two were talking, you could see Faith was hitting on him a little bit.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Maybe I'm the only one that likes the song. Didn't they use that same song on the end of "Tabula Rasa"?
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Maybe I'm the only one that likes the song. Didn't they use that same song on the end of "Tabula Rasa"? I know they used it at the end of an ep with Spike and Buffy making out at the Bronze...Branch was on stage
Guest Cavi Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Yeah, Michelle sang that song at the end of that ep last season. The promos for these episodes are not that good. Just another example of UPN's crappy hyping.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Well atleast UPN has toned down on making all the previews look like Buffy is a comedy.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I like that they're not giving too much away. I'm going to be geeked to see it anyway, the less I know the better.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Dammit, every time I read the spoilers I find something new. I really shouldn't do that...
Guest Sakura Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I thought the ep was good for what it was, a build up ep. Xander losing an eye is just depressing. He looks so sad. The end was compelling tv. I am mostly siding with Buffy there but I can understand Giles, Willow, ect. arguining with her. The SITs on the other hand, especially the black one, need to seriously shut the fuck up. I wish someone would have stabbed that black one right after Buffy left. I'm guessing the thing "for her" is the dues ex uber weapon that will somehow be able to defeat The First and has been there since the dawn of time even though nobody knew about it. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Just so you don't come off as bad the next time..."The Black One" is Rona
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Her name is bitch......that's what I shall call her.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Black Potential = Rona (played by 'Indigo' or Alyssa A. Nichols... Hey! You think she is related to Nichelle Nichols?! YEAH! Sakura, Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Have you read the spoilers? Cause your prediction is pretty close to what's going to happen. I liked the fact that in the prior eps. Xander was making a joke about everyone dying and whatnot, and the potentials were frightened, and Willow told Xander to ease up cause they don't "get it" and explained how the Gang likes to use laughter to ease the tentions. AAAND then tonight they were trying to make jokes about Xanders eye but they broke down crying~! Continuity~!
Guest Sakura Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I try not to read spoilers. Bah to Rona. I hope Caleb snaps her neck. I forgot to put over Andrew with everyone else. He is like the season 7 MVP! I loved how he had on Dawn's helmet while on the bike.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I loved how he had on Dawn's helmet while on the bike. That was a great piece of continuity there. I can't believe Spike still had that helmet.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Vince needs to hire some Buffy writers now that they're done. I would mark out for a RAW written by Jane Espenson. It would actually make sense and be funny!
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 No. I know they're good at continuity and all, but the WWE needs less regular TV writers and more "wrestling" writers. People who know how wrestling works and should go.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Still, the Buffy writers write within the confines of that universe. Give'em a month or so of "training" in what wrestling is, and I think they could do well...ish... As long as they understand that the Wrestling universe is an entirely different one than a 'hollywood' universe. There are common goals - character development, story arcs, build up bad guys so the good guys can win in the end, etc - but it still has to 'mesh' with wrestling. RRR: Tends to read the ends of Novels first.
Guest BorneAgain Report post Posted April 30, 2003 A good episode and God I wish Caleb had come earlier in the season. He's the best villian since the mayor. Andrew was great and I loved the note-writing thing he did at the top of the show. This split beween Buffy and the gang is interesting, but I would so mark out next week if Spike found out what happened and kicked half the Slayers' asses. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 The lack of Glory-love on this board makes me SICK. I mean yeah, Dawn was a result of the Glory storyline, but Glory wanted to *kill* Dawn, doesn't that matter to any of you?! ------------------- Glorificus, or Glory for short, was one of three gods that ruled one of the many Hell dimensions. The other two Hell Gods feared she would attempt to take control of their lands, and struck first. They defeated Glory and banished her to Earth. Imprisoning her in the body of an infant, she was to live and die as a mortal. This mortal, named Ben, only wanted to have a normal life, but that became impossible when Glory managed to free herself for short periods of time by taking control of Ben's body. Knowing she was vulnerable as Ben, she used enchantments to make sure that any human that witnessed the transformation would forget it. Glory would often feed off of the brain energy of humans to keep her strength up. She later began a search for the Key (2), which she would need in order to return to her home dimension, and found it in the possession of a group of monks. The monks sent the Key to Sunnydale in the form of a sister, Dawn Summers, for the Slayer, Buffy, building false memories so she'd protect the Key from Glory. Glory pursued the monks to Sunnydale and began her search for the Key. She soon began to believe that Buffy either possessed the Key, or knew where it was, and threatened her family and friends. When Ben accidently told one of Glory's minions that the Key was made human, Glory began to have her minions keep an even closer watch on Buffy's friends, to determine which of them was the Key. Her minions' first suspect was Spike, after observing Spike (2)'s Buffy sex robot protecting him and fighting by his side. They captured Spike and interrogated him, but Glory (knowing a vampire could not be the Key) realized that he was not. However, she decided to beat the identity of the Key out of him, before he escaped and was rescued by Buffy and her friends. Her next suspect was Willow Rosenberg's girlfriend Tara, as she was the newest member of Buffy's circle of friends, and assaulted her in the park. Upon figuring out she was not the Key, Glory sucked energy from Tara's brain. Willow attacked Glory and tried to gain revenge but was almost killed. Glory followed them back to Willow's and Tara's dorm, and the maddened Tara accidently blurted out that Dawn was the Key. Glory pursued Buffy and Dawn before getting hit by a truck and turning back into Ben. Ben was called in by Buffy to heal Giles, after he was injured while running from the Knights of Byzantium. Glory emerged, capturing Dawn and killing all of the Knights, before heading back to Sunnydale. She prepared for the ritual to open the walls between dimensions and return home, which would also destroy the walls between all dimensions. The division between Glory and Ben began to break down, but she managed to convince Ben to help her by promising him his freedom and her gratitude if he helped her open the portals. Glory was opposed by Buffy and her friends when she began the ritual, and Buffy used the Buffy robot as a decoy (along with the Dagon Sphere) to repel Glory temporarily. Then, she began bludgeoning her with Olaf the Troll's hammer. After a fierce battle, Glory was beaten and turned back into Ben. Buffy spared his life and warned him to tell Glory never to come near her and hers again. Ben promised to tell her, but Giles, knowing Glory would make Buffy and the world pay for this act of mercy, killed Ben and ended the threat of Glorificus once and for all. Guest Mole Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I loved how he had on Dawn's helmet while on the bike. That was a great piece of continuity there. I can't believe Spike still had that helmet. There was a lot of continuty tonight, I can't think of other parts, but I remember when they happpened. I did love the helmet bit though, that was great. Guest Mole Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I like Glory, but the Mayor and Angelus were just so much cooler. I think one of the reasons that they didn't introduce Caleb in the beginning was because he is just too powerful to battle all the time. The same problem was with Glory, they had run out of ideas to do with her because she was just too powerful to battle.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I was basically kidding about the Buffy writers thing. Still, they'd surely be better than Steph, Vince and Gerwitz. Of course an ape would be better than them...
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I don't think there's a lack of Glory love on here. Geez you didn't have to recount the whole story for us.
Guest Sakura Report post Posted April 30, 2003 This Glory talk has reminded me of one of the funniest parts of season 5. It's when Tara has her sanity sucked. She is like "don't hit the horsies~!" and Buffy goes to Giles and says "hit the horsies." Awesome!
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I totally dig Buffy/Angels writing style - very smart, not insulting, and they are able to blend comedy, drama, and action all together - which is what the WWE tries to do, but fails on every single level. THE STORY MUST BE RECOUNT!...ed. Glory getting shoved to #3 position (at best) and #5 pos (at worst) when she should be either at #1 or 2 shows all this non-love toward her. Really, the only one holding her back is Angelus. The First is the big bad in this season, (it) has been there since the first eps. Caleb, while fuckin cool (not nearly as cool as The Beast (~!) ), is just a hired gun. So let's keep our eye on the prize when we talk about the 'real' villain of this season (he would have been a more effective Bad Guy in season 3 or 4. The whole fixation with ~the ladies~ would have been much creepier back then and it would be neat to see some scenes with Giles and a semi-bad Spike.) They didn't "run out of ideas to do with Glory", they just decided to be heavy on the character development and the introduction of a new character. They took their time with Glory, which is just fine, and it built up. Introduction, Speculation, Frustration, Elaboration, Continuation, Desperation, and finally, Elimination. That's the Glory Saga. BEN: I'm sorry. BUFFY: Tell her it's over. She missed her shot. (Ben watches her, not moving) She goes. She ever, *ever* comes near me and mine again... BEN: We won't. I swear. Buffy drops the hammer and hurries away. Ben lies there, gives a pained cough and smiles painfully but still doesn't move. BEN: I guess we're stuck with each other, huh baby? He breathes painfully. Giles comes over and kneels beside him. GILES: Can you move? BEN: Need a ... a minute. She could've killed me. GILES: No she couldn't. Never. And sooner or later Glory will re-emerge, and ... make Buffy pay for that mercy. And the world with her. Buffy even knows that... (reaches into his pocket, takes out his glasses) and still she couldn't take a human life. Shot of Ben listening. GILES: She's a hero, you see. (Giles puts his glasses on) She's not like us. BEN: Us? Giles suddenly reaches down and puts his hand over Ben's nose and mouth, holding them shut. Ben struggles weakly as Giles keeps him still. Giles keeps his calm expression throughout.
