Your favorite ECW moment

Recommended Posts

Guest HBK16

I'm not even that big of an ECW fan but what I saw out of ECW was great. I have to say the thing that got me into ECW was probably the Eliminators. But the match that just made my jaw drop was when Spike Dudley was military pressed from the ring to a few rows into the crowd. I have never seen anything like that in my life. Who in the right mind would even do that. But that wasn't even it. The crowd's reaction to it. The place just exploded with holy shits and ECW chants. It made the hair on my neck stand up. I kid you not.

EDIT: I wasn't sure to put this in the Old School or General but I went with this one because most of the best things that came out of ECW were past 5 years ago IMO.

I've never seen much ECW either, but one Friday night, I got sent home from work early so I turned on ECW/TNN from the Hammerstein Ballroom in the summer of 1999. The first segment saw Heymen get gored. That led to the entire roster to hit the ring. That's when 'Bawitaba' hit over the PA. Kid Kash ran to the ring looking for Rhino so the TV Title match could start. I THINK they moshed him onto Rhino as well.

Anywhoo, the ECW roster w/ Rhino spilled outside the ring to brawl, when Kash hit a plancha ONTO THE ENTIRE ROSTER!!! Woooooooooo!!!!!

The segment ended w/ Kash upsetting Rhino thanks to help from Sandman.

It was definitely good stuff!

When Mikey and Cactus won the tag belts from the Public Enemy...oh yeah, the world title win was nice too.

Shane Douglas winning the NWA title and the subsequent throwing down of the belt. Proclaiming the ECW title as a world heavyweight title.

The first Extreme Championship Wrestling moment and possibly the most memorable.

My favourite ECW moment was Cactus' farewell speech, classic. Very emotional, but classic none the less.

Brain Pillman shows up and shoots on the ECW Arena fans. A classic moment

I would have to agree. A true classic moment. Made all the better by some fans chanting "Where's your skateboard?" at Shane Douglas while he tries to act like a face.

Bill Alphonso v Beulah was my favorite ECW match as both put in a lot of effort in the match and Fonzie accidently bladed himself too deep. Man, the guy looked like a stuck pig....

My favorite ECW was at a house show, actually. Tommy Dreamer was wrestling Tajiri in a "Warren, Ohio Street Fight" (don't you love cateringto the locals?). Anyway, the brawl spilled outside, I put my "Throw him here" target over the guardrail and yelled out "TOMMY!" He turned, saw the sign, shouted "Out of the fuckin way", and I came half a second away from getting kicked in the head by a flying Japanese wrestler. It was quite fun.

That was really good, but not as good as.....

Raven, Stevie, Beulah and Joey

Beulah tells Raven she's pregnant

What does Raven do??

eventually Sandman comes out and setroys everybody and "sings"

"i wanna kick you ass all night...."

then the opening music and all the footage, including the ultimate the chairs in the ring incident

I rememebr telling my g/f at the time

best...thing....ever

i knew of ECW before but this episode was the premeire of the TV show in my area to finally be able to see it was divine!!

I will say when RVD did that insane sommersault onto Bigelow in the TV title match. That is one of the few times I've ever jumped out of my seat.

- Ravens return to win the the tag titles w/ Dreamer. I've never seen a crowd reaction like that before, probably never will.

- High Incident. Dreamer vs Lee, scaffolding match. Oh, I know, the match sucked ass but it's the post-match shit that is solid muthafuckin' gold! Tommy F'n Dreamer goes through the crowd, hugging and shaking hands with everybody in sight! Then, he goes, and HUGS A KID IN A WHEELCHAIR!!! I almost cried watching that shit, Dreamer so fuckin ruled.

- Tajiri vs Psicosis, ECW TV, August of 2000. One of the best matches nobody's seen,

- The tag team of Mikey and Tajiri, specifically when they came out wearing matching pimp hats.

My favorite ECW moments:

-The promo from Oct. '95 where Public Enemy trains Mikey Whipwreck for a ladder match with the Sandman [i almost know that skit word for word]

-Brian Pillman's promo from Cyber Slam '96

-Sandman's return to ECW in '99 [i have that episode of Hardcore TV on tape, and the crowd reaction for him is just nuts]

-Shane Douglas throwing down the NWA title [i've probably watched the tape of it at least a dozen times]

I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of things, since I'm a BIG TIME ECW mark.

Another great one was when Tazz went in on his day off to get the World Title off of the departing Mike Awesome. That three minute match was more of an interpromotional war than the entire InVasion angle and shocked the hell out of everybody except those who were willing to sit through thousands of pop-up ads.

While not exactly an ECW moment, Paul Heymans Smackdown promo about ECW and how Vince stole it, stands of one of my favorite interviews ever.

That was actually Cactus/Terry teaming up in a tag-match. Public Enemy were underneath all the chairs.

Guest What?

When Mikey and Tajiri started using a table as a launching pad, and started launching chairs at Big Sal...great stuff

Steve Corino's pre-Novemeber to Remember World Title match, where he gets Jack Victory to hold a door shut and proceeds to empty The Sandmans beer, but the Sandman then walks in through another door and attacks Corino. Funny, Funny Stuff.

All of Mikey/Tajiri/Sinister Minister's promos.

yeah.... :headbang:

Well, everything has been said pretty much. Another that pops into mind is Wrestlepalooza '97 when RVD and Sabu kicked the entire roster's ass.

I also marked out every time New Jack came out, for some strange reason.
