You betcha! by Anthony Cali Unlike another writer on WWE.com who seems to think he is newsworthy enough to dedicate a lengthy monologue to putting himself over, I’m going to use this commentary to discuss the amazing Superstars that grace the ring, in particular, Triple H. Since Triple H was awarded the World Heavyweight Championship on Sept. 2, he has been belittled, mocked and frowned upon as a champion. The masses have deemed “The Game” an unworthy titlist who was handed the belt due to his political backing. Most feel that he should have had to win some kind of tournament or contest to prove himself as the champ. Well those people are wrong. In fact, every person who boos Triple H and doesn’t recognize him as being equal to WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, make me absolutely sick! Obviously the reason most of you harbor ill feelings towards Triple H is because you’re jealous. You can’t handle that fact that this man worked hard and dedicated his entire life to this sport and was then rewarded for his passion with a title he should have had surgically attached to his waist for the past three years. You can’t handle the fact that you work hard your entire life and are rarely even given a pat on the back. But instead of being selfish and hating the Cerebral Assassin for his accolades, why don’t you try commending him for a job well done? How can anyone deny that Triple H is the best all-around athlete in the WWE today? This is a man who suffered what could have been a career ending injury to not only come back to the ring, but to rise to a new level of greatness. Nobody has done more than Triple H this year. He won the Royal Rumble, headlined WrestleMania – where he won the Undisputed Title – and successfully captured the World Heavyweight Championship, which he has defended against any and ALL competitors. Sure some of you are sitting at your desk and saying “Well Brock won the King of the Ring and then beat The Rock for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam and blah, blah, blah.” Well, you’re right. He did. But did Triple H run to a different show to duck Lesnar? No he didn’t! As soon as Triple H became the number one contender for Brock’s so-called “Undisputed” Title, the NCAA Wrestling Champion took off to SmackDown! with his tail between his legs. And now instead of competing against the greatest Superstar of the past decade (Triple H), Brock is battling rookies and bullying 150-pound. SmackDown! announcers. Why some people continue to question the decision making of a certified genius like Eric Bischoff is unbelievable to me. The man that brought you HLA and now RAW Roulette is incapable of making a bad decision. Obviously “Easy E” didn’t throw names into a hat, pull Triple H’s out and decide to make him champion. Nor did he close his eyes and point to a Superstar on the roster he felt was ready to carry the torch for RAW. Believe it or not, Bischoff invested countless hours investigating who was the most well deserving individual on Raw. And while the decision was a grueling one, Bischoff made the right call. In Triple H, you get a former five-time former WWE Champion, four-time Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion and 1997 King of the Ring. He’s headlined two WrestleManias and personally finished the storied career of Mick Foley. Hunter has done it all and whether the fans want to cheer for him or boo against him, they will always respect him. To say that Triple H isn’t the single most deserving individual on the RAW roster would not only be preposterous and improbable, it would also be idiotic. The bottom line is that nobody in his or her right mind would want to take on Triple H. And with his childhood idol and 16-time World Champion Ric Flair in his corner, who could blame them? Look at some of the people who have stepped forward to challenge The Game for his coveted title. Bubba Ray Dudley, Rob Van Dam and Kane. These are three of the most off-kilter Superstars in the company. All they see is the glitz and glamour that come with being the World Heavyweight Champion (although thinking about it, that’s not too bad of a reward). Being the champion is about much more that drinking champagne and partying all night with beautiful women. There is a certain class and dignity that one must possess in order to properly carry that gorgeous title –two qualities that Hunter has in spades. I mean would you really want a heavyweight champion who wears a mask and calls himself a freak? I certainly wouldn’t. So have a little compassion for Triple H, he’s probably done more for this sport than anyone else. Whether you people like it or not, you fans owe him big. So try standing up out of your seat when his entrance music hits or cheering on his every move because he’s out there doing his best to show you real athleticism and sportsmanship. And that Raw wheel was such a kick ass idea...he spiked the ratings a whole 0.2 point! If Triple H was performing in the ring great, then I'd be able to look past his backstage stroke. But he doesn't and he hasn't performed great since his return. Only really good match Triple H has had was against Shawn Michaels. And that's only because he layed around and sold for Shawn. Shawn did most of the work. A guy who's been off for 4 Friggen years carried the damn match! Ugh, I'm actually sick here with a Head Cold, and this is really making my head hurt more.
