The One and Only "24" Thread.....

The way that Jack has been portrayed, it seems that he's going to survive the explosion or something. How are they going to get around Jack not dying?

Here's some ideas, some of which don't make sense (but hey, I haven't had my coffee fix yet):

- Kate kayos Jack and flies the plane herself (which kills 2 birds with one stone)

- Mason kayos Jack and flies the plane himself

- Jack goes on the HHH diet and is able to withstand a nuke going off

- Kate, in a SHOCKING SWERVE, is actually Sayed Ali, turns on everyone, kills Marie and takes the bomb.

Is it just my permanent case of lesbians on the brain, or did anyone else get the feeling that there was something going on between Michelle & NewPaula that had nothing to do with being someone's boss?

Maybe, in which case I've got one word for Tony: THREESOME

Why don't they grab another volunteer and fly two planes to the desert. That way, Jack can drop of the bomb in some remote location, hop in the second plane, and get to safety. Just set up a perimeter outside the blast radius and don't let no one near it. (Not sure if it's feasible, but hey, what the hell?)

Also, does anyone else think that we haven't seen the last of Cabin Boy? I predict that, near the end of the day, Angry Husband Guy traps Kim somehow, but Cabin Boy saves her. Otherwise, he's just an unnecessary character.

Let's face it, the whole Kim subplot is unnecessary...

I don't know, because they already showed Jack flying the plane. Maybe he's going to land it, and just run as fast as he can or something.

Yeah, as soon as Michelle and the new chick started talking, my room mates were screaming lesbian. Unessisary, but who really cares, eh?

Everyone thought that the Kate/Marie/Raza storyline was pretty pointless at the start, but look where that's ended up. I trust these writers to tie up Kim's storyline somehow.

Also, Jack was literatly in plane, with the bomb ready to go off at any point... I honestly don't know how to make this end happy...

Well yeah, but just because the subplot is unnecessary doesn't mean we have to make it even more unnecessary by adding superfluous characters.

Jack outrunning a nuclear blast = awesome

[pure speculation]

What if sweet innocent Michelle really is a lesbian, but she's only trying to get it on with Tony for a promotion/a raise/evil Nina-ish terrorist purposes? PaulaV2.0 comes off as all bitchy & sinister, which, given this series' track record, makes me think that she's really OK. Michelle is starting to look more & more suspicious to me, though ANOTHER "mole" storyline involving office romance would be somewhat lame.

But still, how cool would it be if at some point, one of these two ended up driving to Denny's for a rendezvous with their secret female lover, who turned out to be...

I'm calling that Jack lands the plane because he feels bad for Kim or something.

There's still a lot of show to go too.

- Nina still hasn't been dealt with. Jack said something to her for a reason.

- Kim has to either run away or be kidnapped again.

Plus, the Palmer thing has to be resolved. What if it's Lynn that's behind the whole thing? OMG SWERVE~!

I think Jack's going to kill Nina, but either Kim or Kate will die.

Is there a season 3 in the works?

Yes, 24 will return for a third season. Zap2it just posted an article saying:

The network will also bring back "24" for a third season. The program was more of a critical darling than a ratings success last season, but it's shown dramatic improvement the second time around, benefitting from the early fall release of the Season One DVDs and from a season premiere that was presented by Ford without commercial interruption.

Recently, "24" has received a bump from its new lead-in the second season of "American Idol." For the year, "24" is averaging a 6.7 rating and over 11 million viewers per episode, both numbers greatly improved over last year at this time.

While inevitable plot twists prevent FOX executives from discussing either which characters will return next year or what the main crisis will be, they promise that the show will retain its unique 24 hour format.

EDIT: Here's another newsbite from Dow Jones Business News:

[Fox Network entertainment president Gail] Berman said "24" was the fifth-highest rated program on television, and announced that Fox would renew the program for a third season. "By making the pickup now, we can give the producers ample time to go complete the course of the season, and plant the seeds for the next one," she said. Ms. Berman said the show would retain its 24-hour concept, but declined to confirm if series star Keifer Sutherland would return. "That could potentially give away a story line, and I'm not into doing that," she said.

 OMG! What will they do without Kiefer? Kim's time will be INSANE.

They're probably referring to the current storyline where Jack is flying in the plane with the bomb. If they told you that he was going to be in season 3, it would give it away that he survives. But I think we all know he's going to somehow survive that flight.

What if Jack just parachuted out of the plane? Would that work?

I mean, I can't imagine Jack dying, especially with so much time left in the season. Maybe, for a swerve, he gets shot in the finale again, but 24 without Jack Bauer will be a snoozefest.

Of course, I'm looking WAY too much into this...I think it's time for bed.

I heard a idea from a friend who says they Could very well do something totally different then an Assassination Attempt and Terrorism and go with something more domestic like an School Shooting or something like that...It seems to me that they went WAY to high with this season's plot...what is an bigger threat then A Nucular Bomb?

I thought up a pretty cool idea for next season.

The past.

They could run a deal on Jack getting involved in Kosovo, Op. Nightfall, Drazen, etc. This would get Kim off the screen for the most part, but Teri would have to return. Sounded like a good trade: Kim for Teri?

The school shooting would be a neat idea, but who would the kids be working for? They have to be connected to some big "boss" for lack of a better term, but who would it be?

The problem with a show taking place in the past is that a lot of the inherent tension is lost. We already know what happens to Jack, Teri, Drazen, etc.. after Nightfall. They should follow up on the character development of this season. Will we finally ever be able to root for Kim?

Then again, I knew all the major plot twists and spoilers of Season one before I actually saw Season one... I knew who the traitors were, who died, who lived, etc...

Yet when I started watching, it still had me on the edge of my seat. I knew how everything would eventually end up, but how they actually got there was still pretty damn exciting.

Yeah, but I (and I suspect most people) would rather watch a "new" storyline rather than a season-long flashback episode. For one thing, setting the next season in the past would basically ignore all the character development from the first two seasons. Jack would revert from grieving widower to distant husband, Senator Palmer would be oblivious to his wife's self-serving tendencies, Kim would be an even MORE clueless teenager, etc. Flashback stories are what novels are for.

No Way...Fox won't bite for that and Nor should they...It would be impossible to ignore the last two seasons...

I dunno how to work an School Shooting but isn't that already Passe...and also take under advisement that WHY would Jack be bothered to do something obviously beneth him...

If it was an Year and a Half since this day and last day...WOuldn't it be concieveable that they have season three on Re-Election Day?

I wouldn't mind if they got away from the Palmer character...

What if Jack gets promoted as Sec. of Defense or something like that?

Presidental Assassination

Nuclear Bomb

What can follow up on that?

You know, I'm surprised no one here has really talked about Tony's big promotion. When we first met him, he was the number 3 guy in CTU, behind Jack and Nina and we all had our suspicions about him at one point or another. Then, he's number 2 this season under Mason, who wasn't even supposed to be there. Now, Tony is #1....in what seems like two days to us.

It seems he has only gotten the spots merely because he happened to never die or turn....Besides...It isn't like it was Two days in reality...It was 18 months...

All things considered, it's pretty logical. If anything, he probably should have been number 1 to start this season.

Hmmm....

Can someone clairfy something for me here? Is Jack just an Outsider here or is he still a part of CTU? Cuz...I would still say he was #1...

They've got to get Kim to start training for a military position...

I think they need to incorporate Season 1's "This can't get back to Germany." Maybe trying to prevent a war... It's obvious the gov't is being infiltrated by spies. Maybe the nuke mastermind can be revealed to be a German sympathizer and not trying to bump defense spending. The first part could be breaking Nina out. Then maybe take hostage a Presidential event...

Would Jack be willing to work under Tony?

I think he would. Tony saved Jack's wife in Season 1 and he's the only person in CTU that he can trust. I'm sure that Jack wouldn't expect to be the number one man again, but if they were to have a power struggle over it in Season 3, It would make for some very interesting TV.

Yeah, a power struggle with Tony and Jack would be a good story. Both guys are great actors and could pull it off well, IMO.

Is there anywhere else that the show can take place? Maybe a day in Afghanistan or somewhere over there, hunting for a group of rogue terrorists connected to chemical weapons?

I think that they should move the show away from Los Angeles. I don't have any clue as to what sort of storyline they could pull out, I kinda like the idea of ending Season 2 on a cliffhanger and starting next season off the next day, but that would also mean that by the end of season 3, there would be some people who would have been up for 48 hours plus, which would be hard to recreate by the actors.
