I think we should try to book hotel rooms no later than the end of this week. By then, we'll need to know how many people are going so we know how many rooms to get. A block would be nice, but I don't know if it will be possible. I can make the reservation for the rooms when the time comes.

 

And I've heard flights out of Guadalajara are cheap this time of year.

A bit of a downer from this end, folks. BLACK MANTA~! is majorly fucked up (it involves removing the manifold and $100 in little parts; I leave the rest to the imagination), so my ability to go on this trip is in some major-ass jeopardy.

 

Anyways, apologies to Incandenza and Kinetic if this isn't fixed by then, I know this fucks up a lot.

 

Oh, and since I know Alina still looks at this thread, it isn't because you got a boyfriend. It's because cars will hate me always, no matter how much care or love I show for them. Kinda like my family.

AAAAAANYways. What exactly was this gathering supposed to entail? As you all know the sooner this gets worked out the better. You need plans or else they will fail. Are you trying to go out, or stay in, or what? I mean, am I going to need a hotel room? I dunno, because, if things happen during they metro hours, I won't. If they don't, then I will.

 

For me going into DC is not a big deal so I don't want to make plans if anyone has any desire to do any DC type things? If you all just want to schmooze about some TGIFridays type restaurant, that's something else. if you want to go clubbing, that's something else.

 

I for one enjoy eating out and meeting people over dinner. That'd be my vote. I know Kotz wants to go dancing, anyone else? Are there any other plans?

Okay, meal is good. Raving even better, and BOWLING~! > not everything, but damn close to everything.

Wait, what really happened with the car? Allrighty, here's what happened:

 

The thermostat was jammed in such a way that it was actually stopping all coolant from getting into the engine as opposed to just regulating it. This meant we needed to take it out, but to get to it, we needed to remove the housing that it was held in. Both bolts that were holding the housing snapped off rather than just come out, since they've apparently not been touched since the car was manufactured. So my friend had an idea to get them out that involved a dremmel and stuff (I forget the details), but his girlfriend came back to town from school in Wisconsin and my father grew impatient for some reason as far as fixing the car. So he brought over a drill and attempted to drill the bolts and then use an easy-out on them, but that didn't work either. My uncle thought he could help by CHISELING them out, but he just made it worse, as you can guess. So now we have to remove the entire manifold and have father take it to his machine shop and such to fix it.

 

Either that, or I work with another uncle for a few weeks to save up the money for the 5.0L engine. The point is that it may or may not be fixed by the time this trip rolls around.

Taking Tom's proposed plan in hand, the end of this week seems to be the final deadline for everyone to get their shit together and decide if this is really happening. If Kotz's car can't make it, then there's no way I'm going, because of the already present risk factor in driving my car so far.

I may or may not need a hotel room but honestly might as well plan on me having one than not. But I can't see us using more than two... who's got that kind of money?

 

But Kinetic there's no reason why you should be scared. There's no reason this trip shouldn't work if we all work at it. After all, there are lots of ways to travel if it really means that much. How many people are necessary? It's not like we'll have too few...

There are other cars, but their abilities to go such a distance are questionable. The station wagon has a great engine and runs fine, but its brakes are not really the best, in fact that's why I don't drive it anymore, because they couldn't stop me before I crashed into that other car from behind.

 

It's possible to take it, but I don't know if it'd be able to make the trip, that's all. Father has been speaking of me driving the wagon regularly and making the Mustang a "project car," which is his way of saying "I want nothing more to do with it, it can rot for all I care."
