Matt Hardy was supposed to take out Rey

<<To follow up what I wrote yesterday, Matt Hardy was indeed initially scheduled to be in the spot that Albert was in on Smackdown on Thursday. We heard from a few readers who were at the show that in the program, Matt was listed as taking on Rey Jr. Of course, Albert, due to the fact that he is big and Vince McMahon likes the guys big, instead got the spot and a lot of the momentum that Matt Hardy had going was pushed aside. Matt then got Albert's Velocity match. Matt talked about wanting to work against Rey and Edge in his WWE.com column yesterday and from what I heard he was not happy about the change being made.>>

 

This makes perfect sense with Matt pinning Rey on Smackdown the week before. And a Matt feud with Edge could help move Matt up to the next level, while a feud with Albert is just going to bring Edge down. Of course they go with the latter option.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if more leaks out from this story in the coming weeks. Something already reeks about it.

That's pretty strange. I wished they went with the orginal plan. The Albert thing seems way too rushed. If you're going to push him, fine, but give it more than one week to go from velocity to upper mid-card Smackdown. At least Matt would have been from mid-card to upper mid-card, it would have been a better and more logical transition...

I can't believe I am doing this, but I'm going to defend Albert a little here: he does get reactions on Velocity. But thats still no reason to throw him in there with Edge and Rey

But Albert's a team player - and a HOSS. So he deserves to be pushed more than a good wrestler like Matt Hardy who has a promising character and has worked hard to improve his mic skills.

I don't think they could have mattitude have a serious threat towards "injuring" rey, he's not the biggest guy in the world (hardy) so he couldn't do as much damage as a 350lb 6 foot whatever sized man.

I think that he is over on Velocity because it is a little thing called editing. You know, they stick the crowd noise in? Just watch this past weeks Smackdown with Albert, that wasn't the crowd cheering, but the noise was put in.

I am in complete and total agreement with you and Bob Barron here. It's already been shown that Matt is pretty zealous over his Mattitude thing, and it isn't a stretch at all that Matt could snap after Rey insults it. And how hard to have a believable injury angle, when you have tables and ladders and chairs and whatnot? I'm sure they could have come up with a decent spot. Like the old "Matt goes crazy and bashes Rey in the knee ten times."

 

But I suppose that isn't believable, because Matt isn't a useless untalented slug. WWE is so retarded.
