Guest bcu1979 Report post Posted December 7, 2002 From Dave Scherer/1wrestling.com: <<To follow up what I wrote yesterday, Matt Hardy was indeed initially scheduled to be in the spot that Albert was in on Smackdown on Thursday. We heard from a few readers who were at the show that in the program, Matt was listed as taking on Rey Jr. Of course, Albert, due to the fact that he is big and Vince McMahon likes the guys big, instead got the spot and a lot of the momentum that Matt Hardy had going was pushed aside. Matt then got Albert's Velocity match. Matt talked about wanting to work against Rey and Edge in his WWE.com column yesterday and from what I heard he was not happy about the change being made.>> This makes perfect sense with Matt pinning Rey on Smackdown the week before. And a Matt feud with Edge could help move Matt up to the next level, while a feud with Albert is just going to bring Edge down. Of course they go with the latter option. I wouldn't be surprised if more leaks out from this story in the coming weeks. Something already reeks about it.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted December 7, 2002 That's pretty strange. I wished they went with the orginal plan. The Albert thing seems way too rushed. If you're going to push him, fine, but give it more than one week to go from velocity to upper mid-card Smackdown. At least Matt would have been from mid-card to upper mid-card, it would have been a better and more logical transition...
B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2002 WWF logic, ain't it great? Let's see, put someone out there to take out Rey who's already over as a heel(Matt). OR, we could throw out a guy who gets NO reaction, is a horrible worker, and will NEVER be over. But, Albert's a HOSS, so he gets the spot. Way to go. Bring Rey and Edge both down while elevating a worthless HOSS.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted December 7, 2002 So...instead of a MAtt vs. Edge match that I would like...and a Matt vs. Rey feud that I would really like... We get Albert.

But thats still no reason to throw him in there with Edge and Rey
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted December 7, 2002 It's ridiculous things like this that really, really hurt the program. WHO COMES UP WITH THIS SHIT? Seriously. I'm beginning to think that Titan Towers is actually a very complex drug farm, and the wrestling is just a front.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted December 7, 2002 ooh...ooh... AND the big Edge vs. Albert SHOWDOWN gets to take place on a ppv headlined by Angle in a world title match against the worst wrestler on the roster (and Angle can't win) AND HHH getting his title back from the non-wrestler Kliq friend!!!!! WWE spoils us. They really do.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted December 7, 2002 Do you think that WWE had a reasonable explaination for this other than "Albert is big; Matt is not"?
Guest bcu1979 Report post Posted December 7, 2002 So...instead of a MAtt vs. Edge match that I would like...and a Matt vs. Rey feud that I would really like... We get Albert. But Albert's a team player - and a HOSS. So he deserves to be pushed more than a good wrestler like Matt Hardy who has a promising character and has worked hard to improve his mic skills. I guess Matt Hardy will know better than to speak out at the next "Blame the wrestlers because my daughter sucks as head writer" meeting.

Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted December 7, 2002 Do you think that WWE had a reasonable explaination for this other than "Albert is big; Matt is not"? Hossitude > Mattitude.
Guest CanadianChick Report post Posted December 7, 2002 Question: If Matt is stuck on Velocity, why does WWE bother in giving him a website in the first place?
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted December 7, 2002 Mattitude would've been perfect. They could've done a backstage skit where Rey questions Mattitude causing him, when he beats him, to go psycho
Guest HartFan86 Report post Posted December 7, 2002 What was the fucking difference? Anyone could hit anyone in the knee with a chair and it looks brutual. I don't get why Matt couldn't do it instead of some Hoss.

Guest ChaosTheory Report post Posted December 7, 2002 I really wish I didn't click on this post. Mattitude vs. Rey & Mattitude vs. Edge would have actually been something that could have been interesting.....but instead we get Albert who out of nowhere gets a match with Rey????WTF???? TheFranchise 0 Report post Posted December 7, 2002 I don't think they could have mattitude have a serious threat towards "injuring" rey, he's not the biggest guy in the world (hardy) so he couldn't do as much damage as a 350lb 6 foot whatever sized man. Guest deadbeater Report post Posted December 7, 2002 Matt's wrestling history consist of winning with mad skills, not with out and out thuggery, therefore it will be way out of character. Albert has the look of a thug, so might as well use him like one.

Just watch this past weeks Smackdown with Albert, that wasn't the crowd cheering, but the noise was put in.

The WWE has a position for you. OF COURSE MATT COULD HAVE INJURED REY!!! For chrissake...the guy got put through a wall be a much bigger Brock Lesnar... what would make MORE sense than MAtt taking shit out on someone SMALLER than even him? It writes itself, and the matches would be far better than Albert's.

It's already been shown that Matt is pretty zealous over his Mattitude thing, and it isn't a stretch at all that Matt could snap after Rey insults it. And how hard to have a believable injury angle, when you have tables and ladders and chairs and whatnot? I'm sure they could have come up with a decent spot. Like the old "Matt goes crazy and bashes Rey in the knee ten times." But I suppose that isn't believable, because Matt isn't a useless untalented slug. WWE is so retarded.
