Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Why get rid of Credible when you can strap on a yellow jock strap and viola, new gimmick! Not "new," but if they're going to keep doing this nostalgia stuff...
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted January 5, 2003 A quick stop at Wienerville showed that Big Show was #34 out of 34 in the ratings rankings. There's a reaction, but definitely not a favorable one.
ChrisMWaters 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2003 I still say for nostalgia sake, they should give Bob Backlund one more title run.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Firstly, Big show is pretty much in the best ring shape of his life. No, I'd say he looked MUCH better in 1999 alone. Better still in WCW. As for the attempts to get them into ring shape, one for Henry and two for Show. Not alot. Too many. You should be EXPECTED to keep yourself in shape. The WWF forcing you to get in shape because you refuse to do it is idiotic. This happeneing Twice is absurd.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Secondly, Henry had lost TONS of weight in OVW and his wrestling had improved threefold. Of course, Vince McMahon saw a money making and publicity oppurtunity in having Henry enter the Strong Man contest. Henry was ordered to put on weight so he could win, which he did, but that was a whole year down the tube. And the only thing that came out of that Strongman win besides bragging rights was a shitty angle involving Test and Farooq. Yes...Vince thought he'd get Mark Henry over using the SAME EXACT ANGLE HE STARTED HIM OUT WITH!! Only this time the roster was even better, so the bigger Mark Henry now looked comparatively even more crappy than before. EDIT: Plus the World's Strongest Man gimmick never got anyone over. Vince still didn't learn. Dispute things people say here all you want. I've yet to see anything point to evidence that Vince isn't a complete fool right. He constantly proves it again and again. Guest Ram Report post Posted January 5, 2003 There's no point in having the world's strongest man. The best he could do is lift up another fatass, but we've already got 7 or 8 other guys that can do that.
Guest Mulatto Heat Report post Posted January 5, 2003 The "World's Strongest Man" or variants of that have never helped anyone do anything worthwhile, from Ted Arcidi (sp?) to Ken Patera to Bill Kazmaier. But I guess if Mizark was pushed as such ONE MORE TIME, it would have worked out. Yes! Really!
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Only if they used him like 911 in ECW. If they'd have used 3MW as faces like 911 was, I think they may have worked out.

Hmm...a wrestler who had a serious problem who at his peaks is one of the best wrestlers on the continent. Or two guys who have never been good who can't lay off the Ho-Hos and cheeseburgers. Who needs the help, and who needs fired? Also, Vince has taken pride in taking care of his wrestlers most of the time, if they are injured or have drug problems. He gave Bulldog and Sunny countless chances, and he's given Nash another chance. Bisch fired Bulldog after he nearly was paralyzed thanks to Warrior's trap door. Especially after his DWI. But, he has turned his life around. Show is still fat.
Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 First, TS, you can't use a wrestlers ability to justify them getting preferential treatment. It's called favoritism. It's what HHH uses and what keeps him at the top. We have to look at it from a "human" standpoint. With that said, my point was that if it's okay for Vince to help someone with a drug AND alcohol problem, who is a danger to those he works with in the ring mind you, peak or not, yet it's "stupid" to help someone get into shape? I see no logic in that reasoning. But then again, this is ASS who posted that.
Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Show is not fat. When you're bron with a defect like Wight has, you will never look like Shaq or HHH or someone of that build. Did you ever see Andre the Giant looking like a tall Batista? No. Because it's just not possible. Believe me, there are fatter people in the world.

I see no logic in that reasoning. But then again, this is ASS who posted that. Show doesn't have the same thing as Andre did. And he looked good for years in WCW, and probably for most of his life. Then began to balloon out a bit. He hasn't gotten any bigger than I've seen, but he's seemingly not losing an ounce. And comparing them isn't valid unless there really is something genetic involved or if you believe they're "addicted" to food.
Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 What are you talking about, Show does have the same thing as Andre. Do you think it's normal for someone to be as big as Paul Wight? The guy obviously has some type of genetic defect that makes him so large.
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 5, 2003 you, peak or not, yet it's "stupid" to help someone get into shape? I Why can't those people get off their own asses and get into the gym, like EVERYONE ELSE in the company?
Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Why couldn't Eddie get his life together without having to be discovered, sent to rehab, and then fired?
Guest Anglesault Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Why couldn't Eddie get his life together without having to be discovered, sent to rehab, and then fired? I don't know. I've never been sympathetic to Eddy in this situation. But, getting addicted to pain killers because of what he does every night is alot more understandable than becomming fat ass because of laziness. I believe Eddy deserved to be fored. He was an embarassment and a danger. But he turned his life around. Show still won't lose weight.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Haven't we had enough of these stupid threads already? I'm starting to think Yuna is really Risk coming back under a different name...
Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Ah, Risk. I always thought he was an........ Get ready for it....... Idiot-fag. Or a whiner, whatever you want to call him.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Hmm...actually, GP.com is right. Big Show was treated for the disease acromegaly (gigantism) in 1993 at the age of 21. It was after the treatment that Big Show began to gain weight. Before he was 7'0" and 320 pounds with a 36-inch waist. After treatment his waist was 55 inches and his weight reached 550 pounds in early 1999! I thought he had something different since he didn't take on the facial features of Andre, which I knew was due to the disease acromegly. I checked several sites which say basically the same thing. He won't grow any taller it seems, but he's not going to get any slimmer, either.

Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 I knew it. I just couldn't think of the name. You're cool in my book TS. You actually research things before you go off spouting crap. *Looks up thread at certain poster* Anyway, a poster on another board mentioned he had been treated for it and he had no excuse to be such a slug. Well, I guess that guy had it backwards.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted January 5, 2003 Another tidbit for AS: Test got into wrestling in January 1997 after meeting Bret 'Hitman' Hart at Planet Hollywood in Toronto. Bret gave him details on who to get in touch with to begin training. So blame the Hitman. Why, Bret, why?
Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 No, becuase I'm not OBA, although I remember him. I used "Idiot-Fag" because I knew it'd get a rise out of you, much like Rhyno in his singlet with the ubeer-ghey Y on it.

Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 That also means that Big Show has LOST weight as well. He is no longer 500lbs. He's just billed as such. I believe he is in the 420-460 range now.

However, he'd have to un-do what Vince made him do to get anywhere in WWE. Oh vey.
Guest Gimmick Poster.com Report post Posted January 5, 2003 I also remember the rumors of Henry getting a "Super Push" since he had done so well in OVW. He was even the World Champ there for awhile I believe. Oh well, at least he has his millions.
