Guest BoboBrazil Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 --It appears the reason you haven't heard any names released for Tuesday's special (by the way, I believe the TNN feed won't be blocked out in Canada, so even though TSN won't be airing the special until 1/20, those of you in Canada with TNN can see it live) is because few if any have been contacted. Without revealing the name, the person who I figured would be the first person asked, as of last night, had not been asked. We're told that they had not finished writing the show so hadn't started contacting people. So this is a real last minute deal. wrestlingobserver.com This is pathetic. The show is 4 days away.
Guest razazteca Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 maybe the idea of having surprise guests is suppose to get the audience to want to watch the special more? Or the fact that the general audience do not want to see Road Agents get tv time, as this is the only guests WWE can book?
Guest Downhome Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Yep, this show is a last minute deal damnit. Jesus, I can't believe they are being so slack on this. They should have been working on this show over the past few months, if not the past year. Wait, I guess I CAN believe it. If they can't get their actual product together, how in the hell can we expect them to do any long term planning on a special show such as this? UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Guest RedJed Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Jeez, thats just ridiculously sad. As soon as they started hyping this on TV months ago was when they should have started planning this out, period. No excuses.
Guest IB2BLACK Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Why can't you just wait. til the show happens? And how, do you assume it's a "last minute" deal?
Guest Downhome Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Why can't you just wait. til the show happens? And how, do you assume it's a "last minute" deal? If they haven't asked many, if ANY people about showing so far, and the show is Tuesday, it IS a last minute deal.
Guest Downhome Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Raw X delivers! Oh my God, you should be exiled for bringing him up! He might just show up now to sing one of his hit songs! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 I think they're too hooked on surprising people, rather than trying to get ratings.
Guest oldschoolwrestling Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 It sounded like they talked to ONE person that they expected would be invited. Maybe they just don't want this person there.
Guest IB2BLACK Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 This is pure specualation, I saw this on the observer site, and they said they talked to one person.
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Geez, you hear a 'net rumor and assume it's true? Think on this... neither HBK or Bischoff's return was "reported" on the net. So, we may know something about what goes on "behind the scenes", but we don't know it all.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 But that one person could have been a staple of the Raw broadcast (mick foley, perhaps) for years and would be a shoe in for a special show. But this is typical WWF stuff - they have done A LOT of things at the last minute to avoid getting their surprise leaked to the sheets (Case in Point: The personality with whom Dave talked to). So I wouldn't say that Raw will just have Pat Patterson and Jerry Brisco talking about Austin vs. McMahon for the whole 2 hours.
Guest El Satanico Posted January 10, 2003 Report Posted January 10, 2003 Eh what's the big deal it's just a lame "reunion" show that will show clips from the past. Hell the clips will probably be edited too. I don't really see why you guys make such a big deal out of this show it's not like anything good is going to happen.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Well, how many of us thought Bischoff was going to show up when he did? They have a hard time keeping secrets, but they can...
Guest Eagan469 Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 We get to see K-Kwik again. Ya-fucking-hoo.
Guest Loss4Words Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I'm sick of this "you don't know what goes on backstage" bullshit. True, we don't, but Meltzer is right about 99.9% of the time. He's been proven right over and over and over and over. This isn't just some random guy making stuff up. Yeah, there's a lot of crap on the Internet, but when someone proves themselves as factual after 23 freakin' years of being a wrestling journalist, you'd think this argument would die.
EL DANDY~! Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Eager, that ain't the same K-Kwik, man. He turned into a good little competitor over there in TNA. Don't diss "The Truth." Dames and bps will go apeshit all over you...
Guest HartFan86 Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 Without revealing the name, the person who I figured would be the first person asked, as of last night, had not been asked. So Bret and Vince must of been talking about something else.
Guest Steviekick Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I think the first person would be Steve Austin. After all, he's still under some form of contract.
Guest The Old Me Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I'm really disappointed (but not shocked) that the WWE did not take this celebration a little more seriously. This is a milestone for the company and it is being treated like a RAW episode of late.
Guest Brian Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 I wonder who the first person asked was? Could it have been Rock, just pulled away from the set for a day? Austin? Hart?
Guest bravesfan Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 But this is typical WWF stuff - they have done A LOT of things at the last minute to avoid getting their surprise leaked to the sheets (Case in Point: The personality with whom Dave talked to). So I wouldn't say that Raw will just have Pat Patterson and Jerry Brisco talking about Austin vs. McMahon for the whole 2 hours. This needs to be repeated/reposted to CALM EVERYONE DOWN. Nothing remains a secret in the wrestling world anymore.
Guest BoboBrazil Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 --While Gene Okerlund announced on Confidential last week that Bobby Heenan would be appearing on the Raw special this coming Tuesday, as of the day before yesterday, nobody from WWE had called Heenan to invite him. This further confirms the last minute nature of how this is being put together. wrestlingobserver.com

Guest The Old Me Posted January 11, 2003 Report Posted January 11, 2003 When it comes across like a shambles, who will they try to blame ? Jericho, Tough Enough and Confidential.
