The Dames Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 Tom and CJ have been alternating Velocity for a while now and we still haven't found a suitable replacement. If anyone is interested in recapping Velocity on a full time basis, please contact myself or Tom. This is NOT first come first serve...just so you know. We're looking for writers who have a great knowledge of wrestling and can make reading a review of a B-show interesting. Good luck. Dames
Guest Anglesault Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 We're looking for writers who have a great knowledge of wrestling Damnit. We're looking for writers who have a great knowledge of wrestling and can make reading a review of a B-show interesting. Well, you couldn't deny that I would be interesting. Hell, I forget about Velocity nine times out of ten anyway.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted January 12, 2003 Report Posted January 12, 2003 I'd like to give it a shot. If I can remember, I'll tape Velocity next weekend and give it a go. I have experience with The Smarks and I have always wanted to write-up a wrestling recap. EDIT: Misspelled "tape"...not a good sign.
Yuna_Firerose Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 Hey Dames, am I supposed to be doing the recap for TE3? I emailed Week 8 to you and Dr. Tom. I asked Dr. Tom what he thought via PM, and he mentioned that he thought he already replied to me in email. I haven't received anything, negative or positive, since. I still have Week 8 saved in my folder if you didn't get it. (Damn YaHell! Damn it straight to hell!)
Guest The Old Me Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 I'd also like to give it a shot. I have some experience writing columns, but never a recap, which could be fun.
Rob E Dangerously Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 I could do it [note to self: tape Velocity]
Guest Tim Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 I am completely unsuitable for this job, because I meet none of your criteria, and I don't get Velocity. However, you could still give me the job if you like.
Guest EternallyLazy Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 I might be interested... it all depends on the salary and the benefits. 401 k? Dental? Details damnit, I want details!
Guest AndrewTS Posted January 13, 2003 Report Posted January 13, 2003 I'm willing to give it a shot. Not next week though, since I'd be taping it and have to do it on Sunday, but going to be watching the Rumble with buds, but week after next I'll do a recap for ya. IM me details. Oh, and am I obligated to recap Albert matches?
Guest The Last Free Voice Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 I'll give it a shot.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted January 14, 2003 Report Posted January 14, 2003 I'll throw my hat into the ring too. Let me know what you want Dames and I'll give it a shot.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted January 15, 2003 Report Posted January 15, 2003 I would like to give it a shot. I have had experience in columns, so that can help me recap. I could see the show on time(cable in my room...sweet), and get you the recap the next day.
The Dames Posted January 15, 2003 Author Report Posted January 15, 2003 For those of you interested in recapping the show, please send me a sample of your writing. If you don't have one, recap a show and send it to me then. Dames
Guest AndrewTS Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 Okay, I'll recap SD tonight after taping it, and send it to ya.
LooseCannon25 Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 I'd love to do a recap.....It would be fun to do. I could tape it on sat. night and put it up on sunday morning. If you guys need any type of recappers besides this if you get someone else for velocity i'd be interested.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 I'm in, I'll either make up a recap for Smackdown tonight, or I'll recap some wrestling PPV I have lying around.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted January 16, 2003 Report Posted January 16, 2003 I will recap SD tonight then!
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 Well, I sent my recap to you Dames, via PM.
Guest subliminal_animal Posted January 17, 2003 Report Posted January 17, 2003 When does the report have to be in? And do we have to recap all the moves and everything like Scott Keith and other losers?
Guest Mattdotcom Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I'm having to drop out of trying-out. I wasn't even home last night, nor will I hardly ever be from now on.
Conspiracy_Victim Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Well I tried to recap, but I just can't do it. I know what to say if I were talking to myself, but putting it down for others to read is a bit harder than anticipated. My knowledge of moves would result in more like a move comparison (i.e. Sliced Bread #2 = Acid Drop into a Slop Drop) rather than knowing when a Fujiwara Armbar is applied. I'd end up sounding like Vince doing play-by-play "Whattamaneuver" and "holy crap that was cool" (ok maybe not that last one). So, I'll just stick to being a forum smartass and enjoying those who can recap coherently for others.
Guest goodhelmet Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I might be interested... it all depends on the salary and the benefits. 401 k? Dental? Details damnit, I want details! Dental??? Hah! Dames' teeth (all three of them) are living on borrowed time. 401K? Invest in Enron first. Seriously, once I finish moving into the new house and setup the recording equipment, I can start doing my monthly comp giveaways for best article. That's about the only incentive you have with the exception of the possibility that a wrestler or wrestling management might read your work.
Guest kingkamala Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 We're looking for writers who have a great knowledge of wrestling and can make reading a review of a B-show interesting. I fit those qualifications. Dames or any mods if you ever want a sampling of one of my reviews IM me at ConnMan520.

Damn- All you get at 411 is the possibility of getting a free copy of Scott Keith's book
Guest Kingpk Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Hey, at least the coffee is good here.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Well, I got mine in on Friday...felt like I was writing a very long wrestling match. I was considering going with a different rating system, that wasn't based on stars...but there weren't any matches on Thursday (I recapped Smackdown) that I could effectively put a different system to.
Guest Mattdotcom Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 Damn- All you get at 411 is the possibility of getting a free copy of Scott Keith's book. Color me intrigued.
Guest Retro Rob Posted January 20, 2003 Report Posted January 20, 2003 I might be interested... it all depends on the salary and the benefits. 401 k? Dental? Details damnit, I want details! Benefits, eh? Well, I've gotten that Klez Worm quite a few times since I started writing for TSM. Yeah... that's about it.
Guest Drury37 Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 I am also interested I was actually thinking about doing a whole Saturday Night Slam(or whatever they call it now) for my web page.So I am definitely interested. Thanks.
Guest Just call me Dan Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 I think ol' Dan will recap Smackdown tomorrow and send you a sample, I could make it interesting, I believe.
