Worst live experience.....

Recommended Posts

Guest The Mighty Damaramu

Ok I was wondering what everyones worst live wrestling experience was? Be it the show or the crowd. What sucked shit?

Mine would have to be when I went to RAW in Nov of 2001 and there was this little mark girl beside me that was always bugging me. She actually physically attacked me when I would boo her favorites! Yep....she packed a wallop......

Oh and that was the show with the Vince Kiss My Ass Club. I had to see JR rubbed in his ass. And when Vince had his ass facing us I heard this clicking and looked over and my friend was zooming in on it and taking photos!

-Being there live at Survivor Series 97. It was an historic event, but it just sucked to see Bret get screwed. Plus the crowd was getting hostile.

what was your inital reaction to the screw job? when i watched the PPV i jsut thought bret had 'quit' since he was leaving anyway

RAW in November 1999 - night after Survivor Series where Austin was "run over"

So Austin wasn't there, and the main event was Triple-H in a handicap match against The Acolytes (Vince came in at the end and threw HHH off the stage)

This was a big letdown from Fully Loaded 99 a few months prior where there was 4 title changes and the crowd went home happy. Also, the commercial breaks sucked...

When I saw that Bret had "given up," I just said "What the fuck?" and I heard the crowd getting audbily pissed. Then the bullshit chant started, and then Bret spat on Vince, which I also was quite shocked to see. As I left, Bret was just starting to destroy the TV monitors. I knew Bret was going to WCW, but I never thought it would be like that.

Any live show is a fun show but the closest to true crap I've attended was the infamous "WCW on RAW" show from Tacoma in July 2001. I honestly thought the crowd was going to riot the longer that Bagwell/Booker match went on. (At least, I was a tad worried about my section. There was some MASSIVE hatred coming from there.) It was also the only live show I've ever attended where I left with a feeling of "eh" as opposed to "AWESOME!"

Brian, I've been a fan of wrestling since 1989 and have lived in Washington my whole life. The only shows WCW ran here to my knowledge are Spring Stampede 1999 and Battle in Seattle in 1997. (I think Yakima hosted Nitro the day after Spring Stampede too.) Is there any particular reason we were known as Horsemen country that I am unaware of? Did NWA run shows in WA. in the 80's? I think it's really cool that we were known as that btw.

And you're right, it was embarassing. That's why I was so shocked Seattle got Wrestlemania. I thought WWE would never forgive Washington.

I was there for Summerslam 2000. I think that was the event, at least. Rock/Booker and Austin/Angle main events. Good show over all, but man... the Kane & UT/DDP & Kanyon cage match was horrible. HORRIBLE. And the worst part was, we were confused as to what the hell happened.

For those who don't remember, Kanyon escaped the cage at some point. The crowd reacted as if the match were over. Then the whole UT & Kane/DDP thing went down, and DDP was pinned. THEN the bell rang and the crowd collectively went, "Huh?". Talk about a dead crowd. The only fun I got out of that match was yelling at Taker to take a bath.

That was Summerslam 2001 dude.

Anyone had any trouble with the crowd itself at events? Like getting heat for liking/disliking a certain wrestler?

It's been so long since wrestling has been in Oregon, I completely forgot that it would have been one of the territories for them to run in. D'oh! As far as Flair reactions, I was at Battle of Seattle and I remember "WOO'S" from nearly the entire arena before the show...and he wasn't even on the card! That's where I realized WA. loves Flair. I just wasn't sure if there was more to it. Thanks for clearing it up for me.

January 7th, 2002 at MSG when Triple-Juice came back. I went with my girlfriend at the time, and her sister with her friend. They are young, in 9th grade at the time. Anna(her sister) and Christina(her friend) are BIG Rock fans. You know, the ones who love him because of his looks.

Well anyway, I could tell there were 4 SmarKs behind us because they were chanting "Rocky sucks, Rocky sucks." Anna and Christina got all pissed off and they tried to start a "Rocky Rules" chant. She even turned around and yelled at them. I just laughed my ass off at her attempts to fight a SmarK. I tried to explain to her why these guys hated Rock so bad, but she wouldn't listen.

My worst experience at a live show was the most recent. At Mogehan Sun a few weeks ago. For one thing, I was in such a bad mood because of my mom dieing and all, so I wasn't really having that much of fun. Plus, the show wasn't all that good, and I got my signs taken away because I was sitting on the side the cameras are on.

There was also this couple in front of me who stood up, EVERY 10 second when something happened. They were only 4 rows back, and there was NO need for them to stand up all the time. Since I am a short, this pissed me off a bunch. I didn't have the heart to tell her to stop standing up because she was pretty cute.

Then, right down the row from me, there were these three teenager kids. During the Storm/Booker match, one of the kids kept on making fun of Booker T. Saying how he is a shitty wrestler, and they would rather see T.L. Hooper out there. Then when Storm got some offense in, they clapped everytime. I believe they were either SmarK wanna-bes or ECW Mutants. That really got on my nerve too, but everyone does have a right to their opinions.

One paragraph is enough said:

"Ever since last Monday night, the question that seemed to be on everyone's mind is: is Stone Cold Steve Austin really gone? Sadly - sadly, the answer to that question is yes. I know, I don't like it any more than you do. The other question on everyone's mind is: one day, will Stone Cold Steve Austin be back in action in World Wrestling Entertainment? I sincerely hope so. And quite frankly, I really don't have the answer to that question and I'll tell you why. You see, Austin has a lot of explaning and a lot of apologising to do before he comes back."

Hmm...No Mercy 1999 in Manchester (UK). Droz v Blackman and Ali Singh v Gillberg. Horrible.

Ahh, No Mercy 99 was in Cleveland, OH.

Unless there was a No Mercy that took place in UK too.

EDIT:Nevermind, just checked in PWI Almanic and saw that there was a No Mercy in UK too. My bad.

Starrcade 98

The only PPV I've ever been to. Combine being at the very top of the MCI Center (the wall suporting the roof was directly behind me on the sides where the net/basket would be for hockey/basketball), being behind the entrance ramp, the crappy matches, and the somewhat near riot after the main event...it added up to a bad time.

If before entering the event counts, then yes.

Just before a house show 3 years ago in Fresno, California, I was walking into the arena, wearing a DX shirt at the time that I bought ages back, and some Rock mark, must've been between the age of 8-10 said something to me just because of my shirt.

And as for worst live event experience? That very same show mentioned above. There were a few decent matches and all, but other than that, nothing too special. And the main event was Chris Jericho vs X-Pac.

Guest treble charged

The only dissappointment I've ever had at a live show would be when I attended the first SmackDown after WrestleMania last year. Austin was in the middle of his first walk-out, and neither Ric Flair or Vince McMahon (2 people who I've always wanted to see 'in person') didn't appear in front of the live crowd (just on the Titantron [Vince talked to the nWo and Hogan, Flair to the Undertaker]). The rest of the show was decent, though, so I really don't have too many complaints about that.

Treble Charged: I was at that show as well as a part of my WrestleMania tour and I think you should count yourself lucky - you are on of a select few thousand that have ever seen Nash post-Diesel in a WWF ring wrestling...actually, thats unfortunate more than luck.

Yeah, you can see me during that match when Nash Jacknifes Rock through the table. I'm reasonably sure that that's his only singles match over the past 2 1/2 years.

Well, I was laying into Nash quite a bit, but nobody seemed to care because the crowd was mostly marks who thought Stone Cold would really reappear after a one week walk-out, but once I stood up and shouted "HBK SUCKS" I got three random screams telling me to shut my mouth and that HBK ruled.

This was while he was in the NWO mind you, and during a Booker T match, and Booker was THE most popular guy of the entire show. Seeing that all my Clique bitching was almost in-line with the kayfabe storyline, I didn't expect all that return bitching from my section for my one line of Shawn hate.

An ECW house show down here in 99 was my worst.

It was pretty friggin' dull until D-Von Dudley spilled a a friend of mine's drink on her and she got revenge by throwing the rest on him while they were brawling outside of the ring. Also, I had to suffer through 20 minutes of Sabu/Credible, but the Taz/Tajiri match almost made up for it.

Oh, and Francine flashed some redneck 3 rows up from me, but she had electric tape on her nipples. I've never been so scarred in all my life...

Survivor 99, the whole card except for Jericho/Chyna...and Kurt's debut.

Especially Austin getting run over...for the rest of the night people in my area just kept on with "Stone Cold betta come out! I paid my mothafuckin money to see Stone Cold!" One guy said that over and over again.

Portland was one of the hottest territories back in the day. Piper, Morreti, and anyone who was touring through. Lots of great brawls here.

I had two....the Raw the night over Summerslam when HHH and Undertaker tried to kill Brock's heat and the 20 hour Jericho promo/Jericho-jeff hardy match.

And the raw with Mae Young's hand...and the Rock vs. Big Show & HHH (or was it shane?) handicap main event. Whatever...match blew in a hundred different ways and crowd was indifferent at their most interested

I usually have a great time though

I've told this before.

But after a WCW house show when Hogan beat Flair by DQ my buddy (who posts as Slingshot suplex) went to an obsenity raging fit on the way out about his Hogan hate...I thought we were going to get tossed out. Little kids were looking at us and everything
