Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 13, 2003 We dont know if D-Lo refused a pay cut or anything and his push pretty much ended when Book squashed him on RAW. Maybe he'll have fun in TNA
Guest Spaceman Spiff Report post Posted February 13, 2003 He was making RAW interesting with his boring matches?? Uh-oh. Next on the chopping block: William Regal!
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 13, 2003 ::lays out Spaceman with the power of the punch:: D-Lo's matches with Maven, Dreamer and Hurricane were the cure for insomnia. The Commonwealth Connection's matches may not be the most exciting the world but I'd take a CC asskicking over a D-Lo match any day of the week
Guest JHawk Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I honestly think they intentionally gave D'Lo the shitty gimmick knowing that it wouldn't get over, thus giving them reason to cut their losses. Notice that it was sort of working until Teddy Long started doing the mic work for D'Lo, then all the momentum fell out of it.
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Regal will never get the boot because he is HHH ass-kissing buddy. It pains me that my British comerade has become so worthless
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Wow, you have to love WWE's timing. They don't cut D'Lo or Bull Buchanan when they were in development, but after they come back up and do something, they're gone. So what the fuck was the point of putting D'Lo over Hurricane, Maven, Dreamer, etc. if they were just gonna release the guy?
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 makes you wonder if Tommy Dreamer's job is secure if he Jobs so effectively, but still has that Crowd Appeal and Charisma while doing it... You know he doesn't complain he because he is more into wrestling as a livelihood than Angles and personal gains.
Guest TheGame2705 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 JOY! YES! MY WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED! May he rot in XPW.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted February 13, 2003 At least they fired D-Lo in time for tax season so he can go back to his old job
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted February 13, 2003 The Brown was just taking up space. His WWE career should have ended with Lo-Down. This is actually going to help the WWE in the long run getting rid of all these veteran lower card guys that have no upside.
Chunk 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I honestly think they intentionally gave D'Lo the shitty gimmick knowing that it wouldn't get over, thus giving them reason to cut their losses. Uh-Oh! Your next Jef. ChUnK!
Guest Repo Man jr Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I remember hearing ages ago he got a big contract by playing WCW against Vince. And since then Vince has been pretty pissed off with him. Obviously the Droz thing was bad too. They probably made him wear the turban gimmick and go down to developmentals just so he would quit.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I hate this whole "He'll be better off in TNA argument"...the man makes $350,000 a year, and how he'll be better off working for peanuts, I'll never know. I just hate how they start a gimmick up with someone then fire them. D-Lo...awful gimmick, but he's getting over as a heel...GONE b2...broke up with Cena, could have started up a feud...GONE Raven...JUST gets back to Raw, gets a new look, 1 run in...GONE Fuckin retarded they keep on shit working Hosses liek Albert and Rikishi and fire guys with a little talent. Guest RenegadeX28 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Well, another good WWE star, whose career went down the drain, is released, just a week or two after Raven was. That whole "Down with the Brown" crap sucked. No one cared about it when Teddy Long tried to get the crowd saying the phrase. Well, you can go back to being a ref Teddy. Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted February 13, 2003 D'Lo had hat glimmer of hope a few years back, when it seemed like he was going to get a big push. After that fell through, his career was pretty much over. I guess we'll see if TNA solidifies thier claim to not being the federation of "WWE rejects". I see them picking him up, and it would do them nicely I'd say.
Guest nl5xsk1 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I don't think the whole "down with the brown" was getting over at all - and I'm actually pretty surprised by how many people on this board are saying that it was. A lot of it can be blamed on poor and inconsistent booking, but more can be attributed to audience apathy. Personally, I haven't been a fan of him as a character since the NOD broke up, and I've never been a fan of his work in the ring. Yes, there are others more worthy of a cut (Demott, A-train, Rikishi) but I sincerely doubt that any of them make as much as $350k.
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 he doesn't need Teddy Long, just give him his friggin' Chest Protector back!
Guest Just call me Dan Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Honestly, I think the bulk of America rolls thier eyes when race card issues are brought up so much these days. We've been so overexposed to it that when the WWE tries to bring it to life, all we see is that dead horse. They tried to keep beating it, but no one cares. Booker squashing D'Lo did him in. If he's beaten by T who won't get pushed as a credible title threat, he's got no chance in the fan's eyes.
Guest wwF1587 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 and meanwhile test and batista continue to get pushed on RAW F U WWE!
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I agree with everybody who's said that he should have been cut when he was in the developmentals. It's starting to get redundant- take a low or mid carder, give him a gimick, wait a few weeks, then release them. Why bother?
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I never liked the guy, but I wasn't feverishly demanding his release. Maybe his spot will go to someone good.
Guest Quik Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Bah. We should celebrate... he was boring in the ring anyway. Hopefully more dead weight will be cut off in the next few weeks.
Guest TheArchiteck Report post Posted February 13, 2003 Well at least D-Lo passed the torch to Booker and put him over.
Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 D-Lo's matches with Maven, Dreamer and Hurricane were the cure for insomnia. I don't know about Maven or Dreamer, but Hurricane completely carried his match with D'Lo....then got injured. I believe the injury was caused by his botched move (hurricanrana? I can't remember) but I don't think the Sky High/Fade to Black helped anything. Bah. We should celebrate... he was boring in the ring anyway. Agreed. *runs off to celebrate since she's so bored*
Guest converge241 Report post Posted February 13, 2003 I was really surprissed when I read this on the Obsv site... It just seems so weird for a cut in the middle of a pseudo-push its not so much of a "why him" but a "why now". Personally I could go either way on agreeing with the guy being there , but i havent really enjoyed him since the Euro title/chest protector/xpac feud days
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted February 13, 2003 That whole "Down with the Brown" crap sucked. No one cared about it when Teddy Long tried to get the crowd saying the phrase. Well, you can go back to being a ref Teddy. THe thing about that is he's a really good manager...but he was the shits as a ref. ARE YOU KIDDING?! The Famous Teddy Long Two-Count is a staple with me and my friends. When he disappeared from referee duties, some of us were inconsolable for weeks. As for D'Lo, his career was DOA the second he botched the Ski-High '99 on Droz. They could sugar-coat it and repackage him in lame gimmicks all they want, but the second you paralyze somebody in the ring by botching a move, you're done. Guest Coffey Report post Posted February 13, 2003 D. Lo Brown has been told by WWE that he will be let go next month. Good.
