Guest teke184 Report post Posted March 14, 2003 Hard-ass games: Philosoma (PS1)- One of the main reasons I bought a GameShark Platoon (NES)- That last level is a bitch even with Nesticle and a save-state feature X-Com: Terror From The Deep- (hic) Kill me (hic) Kill me (hic) Kill me. The game was like regular X-Com but they screwed a lot of stuff up, like the research system and the battle system which made it a pain in the ass to play without some creative hex code alterations to saves. Gold Rush (IBM PC)- One of the few games I know of where you need the hintbook to play the damn thing and you can do everything exactly right and STILL die because the game has a "Well, not all the settlers survived so F*CK YOU, hope you saved" subroutine. Guest Special K Report post Posted March 14, 2003 X-Com #1 is one of the toughest games I've ever beaten, but was fun and rewarding all the way through. Terror from the deep was insane. This is a synopsis of about my first 20 fights. Turn 1- Move people off of carrier, start looking around a bit. Enemy-Turn 1-shots fire out from every unseen direction. Half of my guys die. Turn 2-panic time! EEEEEEK EEEEEEK EEEEEEk Enemy turn 2- mop up my forces. And this was on EASY

It was really hard I can sit for six hours and beat that game, not counting, eating, or bathroom breaks.
Guest Breetai Report post Posted March 19, 2003 Virtually anything with Contra in the title. 1 player Gunstar Heros on hardest setting. Streets of Rage 2 on Mania.
Guest Pegasus Kid Report post Posted March 19, 2003 I guess a lot of games depend on the difficult setting. As someone that plays fighting games almost exclusively now, I'd have to say that "Super Street Fighter II Turbo" is easily the hardest fighting game I've ever played (on level 8 difficulty of course). We actually put the computer in as a participant in a 16 person tournament for SSF2T a few months back and it came 3rd. Insanity. As for non fighting games: Ikaruga: I have yet to beat it on anything outside of easy and can't even get to the fourth stage on normal. Dragon Warrior: Last Boss = Reason for Suicide Castlevania II: This took me months to defeat compared to the rest that were rather simple IMO. On a side note, I never found any of the Double Dragon games that difficult. I always hear people ranting about III being so tough but I beat it with my cousin over a weekend way back in the day. Also, I've never played SMB III without warps. Is it really that much harder? Props to the GnG series of games for being engrossingly hard. We talked about this very topic over at the Shoryuken forums. You all should drop in if you're big on fighting games because that's the best site on the net for them. http://www.shoryuken.com/forums Oh yeah; Renegade what game is that Buster Wolf animation ripped from? The Power Geyser you had looked like it was from MOTW but I don't recognize this one. Same game?
