What were everybody's video game markout moments? I ask because I finally got my copy of Kingdom Hearts today after playing Final Fantasy VII for about two months straight, and I marked the F out when Aeris (or "Aerith" as she is in Kingdom Hearts) approached Goofy and Donald Duck. Guest Kingpk Report post Posted March 5, 2003 I have 3: 1) When I came back from 21 down against the Jets in the final game of a Madden season where a loss puts me out of the playoffs and won with an FG in Overtime (it was a pretty good game, too). 2) When Zidane whips off his robe at the end of FFIX, revealing to Dagger that he isn't dead. 3) When Ray is activated in the tanker and rips it apart (because it is such an awesome cutscene). A town with a mansion on a hill, a mansion with a library. In it, Sephiroth is reading many many books. Cloud asks Sephiroth innocently something like "What are you going to do now?" or "Where are you going?" Sephiroth states, "I'm going to visit my mother..." Unlocking the Mustang GT390 in Sega GT 2002. Getting an 8.436 in the quarter mile with a Nitrous-equipped Ford GT40 running at 201mph and 920hp, FINALLY beating that fucking Caterham Super Seven at the drag strip in Sega GT 2002. Getting captured by the Immortals in Jet Set Radio Future with the decoy Yoyo. The last thing I expected from that game was a plot twist. Getting the last medal on Expert mode in Starfox 64. Hearing original Star Wars scores in Shadows of the Empire. Beating Final Fantasy II, III, and Super Mario RPG. I marked for beating Street Fighter Alpha 2 with every character. I marked for beating Level 8-1 on Super Mario. I marked for the end of Double Dragon where the brothers fight over the girl. I marked out like a retard for the bum bum bumbumbum ba ba bum bum bum! Snaaaaaaake! in Metal Gear Solid. Beating La Seniorita Virtual for the first time to finish off the Konamix basics, beating my first cata (Afronova Primeval), beating Furuhata's Theme to finish off all the 5th mix catas, beating Max300. DDR gives you such a great sense of accomplishment. Any time I beat Dennis the superasian in any fighter, it's a serious markout moment. His reflexes are superhuman. The FF7 moment that Eric mentioned was great. The music change at that moment is absolutely chilling. The whole Cloud's story scene is amazing. FF7 had a bunch of them. A couple that spring to mind: The first time I played through Chrono Trigger on Snes was like a constant markout. Specifically, the Trial sequence in the game, when previous things I had done (like stealing the old man's lunch) came back to haunt me. I was amazed. The intro to FFX blew me away with the incredible cg. With Auron walking along while the blitzball game rages on just caused me to mark out, as I had been anticipating the game very highly. Tons of moments of fighting bosses in Metroid Prime. Too many moments overall from all the FF games, I couldn't list them all. I have a big fondness in my heart for the sniping sequence in FF8. Playing through all of Chrono Cross, constant markout. The chrono series of games has always been my favorite, and I love every aspect of them. The first appearance of Solidus in MGS2, as well as the tanker sequence when Revolver steals Metal Gear Ray. Virtually every cinema in MGS and MGS2 actually. Blah, that's enough for now. Liquid takes control of Ocelot at the end of Metal Gear Solid 2 and steals Metal Gear Ray. The ending with Ocelot & Solidus in Metal Gear Solid. Nuking the French in the various Civilization games.
