Just on a side note, if you care, I am over at http://www.aljazeera.net/ and they have a poll asking "Will the United States succeed to topple the Iraqi president's regime?" and it is as of right now 43% Yes, 50.6% NO, and 6.4% I do not know.

You guys act like you've never seen a war on TV before.

I fear for the American & allied troops too, but nothing is happening yet. It was just a cruise missle.

To be honest with you I haven't.

I was alive for the PGW but I was too young to watch it.

So yea- this is my first war so I'm kinda freaking out and am on edge

Gulf War happened when I was 11, so this is the first war of my era. I am anxious and feel compelled to support our troops. I am against the war, but it is starting before my eyes. Nothing like this has ever happened. Wow.

I will continue to hope this is over with fast and swift and hope we avoid as many soldier's deaths as possibleIraqi civilians as well).

This feeling is surreal.

NBC news reports that the British defense said that this was not part of the original plan, and that this was the US capitalizing on an oppurtunity, possibly the chance to capture/kill Saddam

I was talking with Graham (Cawthon777) and what if we already killed Hussein in his leaders with ONE missle. I think the whole world would be "....."

No, I don't expect the US to be attacked over here. Perhaps overseas.

I was also 6-7 during the Gulf War. This is just so surreal to watch- You knew it wasn't gonna happen but when it does- it's just surreal. I'm just in shock right now.

The Chimp Speaks.

If you paid attention to news for over 5 years, this is really nothing shocking. Don't blink, or you'll miss this war.

I was 11, but all the kids where I lived (Bowmanville, ON) were all into the war. We talked about it every day in class.

EDIT: It was in the winter so I would have been 10, not 11.

Update for those without TV: You can't see jack squat. It's just reports.

For those who don't know what to watch, I'd like to point out this article. Looks like Faux News is barred from Iraq.

Like I've said before, it's ALWAYS an appropirate time to bash Faux News. :D

Humor is a good thing in times like this.

I know I know- It's still just such a shock. I'm wearing the same thing I wore on 9.11 which is kind of creepy.

Okay, it turns out this is NOT the start of the war officially.

Appearantly, they got some information about where they believed Saddam was, and dropped some bombs there in hopes of killing him off before the war even really starts.

Of course, just dropping some bombs on a building to kill one person has a really low success rate.

Okay, I guess the US Intellegence saw something and they ended up bombing right now....supposely it was suppose to happen later.

Seriously, if this war is over now....I dunno what to think.

I commend you for your amazing class and gentility.

I strongly dislike the man. Don't expect me to show him any compliments. Even now. That said, I hope we're succesful and have a low casualty count, but I still don't like the leadership.

Saddam might be dead

I doubt that's the case, but if it was, I probably wouldn't stop laughing my muthaf'in ass off for a good, solid hour.

While it's HIGHLY unlikely, let's think about this for a moment. Let's say that they did hit their target, Sadam, and he was killed along with other higher up members of the Iraqi government. Then let's go on to say that it led to the Iraqi govt. just giving in, and this war ended with almost no deaths at all...

...what would the world THEN say about the US and Bush?

I think everyone would just be shocked and not know what to say.

Brian Williams on MSNBC was hysterical about this:

"So the troops are all ready, the tell the President 'Yes sir, we are ready to go,' and then an Intelligence General rushes into the room, clutching satelite photos or an intercept transmission, saying 'There's a car with a Suburban in front of it, at the corner of Saddam Is Great street and Saddam Is Good avenue.'"

That just made me crack up.
