Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Jamie Kennedy, star of the WB Network hidden-camera/sketch comedy series JKX: The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, is in preliminary talks to star in New Line Cinema's Son of the Mask, the second installment of The Mask franchise. The Hollywood Reporter says Larry Guterman is directing the project, which is expected to shoot in the summer while Kennedy is on hiatus from "JKX." Son of the Mask, a follow-up to the studio's 1994 blockbuster feature starring Jim Carrey, carries on with the premise of a character-altering mask. This time around, though, it follows an aspiring cartoonist who is not ready for fatherhood but finds himself raising a baby endowed with the powers of the mask of Loki. The film was written by Lance Khazei with rewrites by Rob McKittrick and the team of Tom Gammill and Max Pross Credit: ComingSoon.net
cawthon777 Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 WHY? ...The Mask was horrible in 94. It was a little novelty movie that only middle school kids liked (I should know, I was one at the time). Jamie Kennedy is obviously hurting if he has to jump from Scream to ... Son of the Mask.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 But he's not funny...kinda hard to pull off a movie like that when you're that dull.
Guest Brian Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Do you watch the Jaime Kennedy Experiment YNA?
Guest Lethargic Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 I hated, hated, hated the Mask back then. I love it now. This sequel will most likely suck, though it could be worse. They could've used that scary Carrey looking guy from Dumberer again in this one. Man, that guy freaks me out.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted March 28, 2003 Report Posted March 28, 2003 Do you watch the Jaime Kennedy Experiment YNA? I've seen a couple of episodes and was not impressed.
LaParkaYourCar Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 I thought you meant the movie "Mask" about that deformed kid when I first read the thread title.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted March 30, 2003 Report Posted March 30, 2003 *blows up* GOD DAMN IT. NO BODY WANTS TO SEE ALL OF THESE SEQUELS/PREQUELS OF JIM CARREY'S MOVIES FROM 10 YEARS AGO. THEY WERE ONLY FUNNY BECAUSE JIM CARREY WAS IN THEM. HOLLYWOOD NEEDS TO GET SOME FUCKING ORIGINAL IDEAS FOR MOVIES FOR ONCE. *back to normal*
Downhome Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 *Eerie music* The concept was horrible. The very thought of it is enough to make men puke. The teaser trailer confirmed everyone's nightmares. But now ladies and gentlemen, unleashed on mankind, the FULL trailer!
Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 Bah, I'll pass. The first one was overrated anyway.
Ravenbomb Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 "This is a fake!" "Yes, but it's a good fake." Ben Stein and Bob Hoskins aside, it looks like shit.
starvenger Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 The first one was good for what it was - an entertaining vehicle for Carrey and the introduction of Cameron Diaz. I saw the preview for this during The Incredibles, and it looks fine when Kennedy has the mask, but the baby and dog... not so much. BTW, I've heard the comics are much, much better, but I've never read them.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted November 10, 2004 Report Posted November 10, 2004 I would have liked to have seen the preview just so I could blow up again about it. I'll also admit to actually seeing Dumb and Dumberer (on the Starz Free Weekend a couple weeks back) and I must say that aside from Bob Saget (please don't let this drag any FH posters in here) saying Shit a million times, it was the single most unfunny movie I've ever seen in my entire life.
Downhome Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 MarvinisaLunatic, I went to the theater to watch Dumb and Dumberer. I gave MONEY to watch that pile of shit.
Guest Smues Posted November 11, 2004 Report Posted November 11, 2004 I saw the trailer at the Incredibles. Dear god does this look pathetic. Everytime I think the title of "Worst movie ever" won't change hands for a while Hollywood proves me wrong. DIE MOVIE DIE
Yuna_Firerose Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 Ye gods this movie looks like a whole lotta suckyness. From watching the trailer, it seems like a bunch of CG artists/cartoonists went on an acid trip or something. It's just....ick. The only reason I'd ever pay money to see this shit - via rental mostly likely - is for Loki. Everything else looks incredibly UNfunny.
Si82 Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 (edited) That trailer is bloody awful. Who the hell would go and see that? Edited November 14, 2004 by Si82
sfaJack Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 MarvinisaLunatic, I went to the theater to watch Dumb and Dumberer. I gave MONEY to watch that pile of shit. Me too, man. Could be the worst $6.50 I've ever spent in my life. Marvin nailed my thoughts on that "movie" exactly in his post. What a letdown from the classic original. Oh, and the first Mask wasn't very funny, and I doubt this one will be either.
Mole Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 When I went to see the Incredibles, they showed this trailer and it was horrible. And they didn't even show the teaser SW one. Fuckin stupid.
Downhome Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 Me too, man. Could be the worst $6.50 I've ever spent in my life. That movie was so bad that we should start a support group for anyone who actually paid to see it.
