And we've also heard from the hhhater haters. But answer me this, if there is no truth to the "HHH buries people" myth, then why have two of the past world title challengers been reduced to main eventing heat. True, the writers haven't helped, but come on!

If it's anything, it's the writers' lack of planning and forethought in writing WM storylines while accomodating for the other show's matches (which they wont have to do starting in June). In fact, Steiner's a former main eventer and he doesn't even have a match Sunday, so blame that on HHH too, I guess.

The only difference is that he can jump off the top rope, which is something JR and King freak out over, even though Cruiserweights do it almost all the time. RVD....is a spot machine that does the same spots over and over. The team is just another "strange team" that's randomly put together. The only time they were at all interesting was when they had those funny skits together.

Guest NoCalMike Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 If RVD is stale, then how the hell is the "punch, kick, stomp, repeat" style that is shared by the top players, not even more stale? WWE has the roster(at least partially)to instill a new style at least in the main event, but it would have to include the slow fazing out of guys who are either too old, half crippled, or just have a lack of wrestling skills in order to keep up. RVD/Benoit/Eddy/Angle(??), and some more can offer something different, if it ever happens, or if they are just gonna have to mold themselves into the same boring style that currently exsists, remains to be seen.

His style is no different than the main event style, just that his stuff goes "forearm, kick, flip, repeat". Obvious anti-RVD bias aside, that doesn't mean he shouldn't get pushed, but to say he's something different is a mistake.

Now, Trips may be in Vince's ear, and he may be maneuvering around but I think Vince really believes it's all for the good of the company. But in the final analysis, it rests squarely on the shoulders of Vincent Kennedy McMahon to turn things around. Vince who, by the way, is taking up space on a card instead of letting the guys he pays to do that . . . well, do that.

There is another thread about moveset & finishers, but lets be honest, when I look an RVD match, I always got the feeling that I already saw this match, even if he changes the order a little. I know everyone has a TM moveset, but, look at Jericho, he at least changed some of his moves, I dont remember the last time he used the double powerbomb, sometimes he doesnt use the sprinboard kick, he only use the Arrogant cover when he is heel. And at least from what I been readin (I dont get SDown) its the same for the SDwon 6, they try something new from time to time. Damn, even Taker changed his moveset last year, he began to use "shoot fighting" moves.
Guest CanadianChick Posted March 29, 2003 Report Posted March 29, 2003 I don't blame HHH for RVD's and Kane's de-push. He might have influence, but I think that blame should be placed on Vince. As Paul Heyman said on his Off the Record interview, all successes should be credited on Vince and all mistakes should be blamed on Vince (thats not an exact quote, but close enough).
