Guest mickberna Report post Posted April 1, 2003 I know it's not a very engaging topic, but what's the deal with the WWE's obsession with putting a catchphrase at the beginning of entrance themes? It worked for Rock, and now it seems EVERYONE has one. Remember Bob Holly's music? "How do ya like me now?" UGH. Even Steven Richards has a catchphrase in his music, though I have never heard him say it. It's practically a lock that they'll tack a stupid "Who's next!" or "You're next!" at the beginning of Goldberg's music.
Guest Fook_Hing_Ho Report post Posted April 1, 2003 It's pretty much inevitable that they will. Hell, they even did it with Flair's music, and that theme's legendary.
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted April 1, 2003 I'll place a bet on "Who's Next?" becoming his opening quote
Guest EternallyLazy Report post Posted April 1, 2003 Yeah, without a doubt they'll do something like that. But what I really want to see happen, is WWE rerecord Goldberg's theme with a real orchestra. I personally think the theme sounds too generic
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2003 Yeah... Let me think of all of 'em... "Stand back! There's a Hurricane coming through!" (Though that really works because of the light effect they do for it.) "How do you like me now?" (Oh, come ON...) "Can you dig it, sucka?" "WHOOOOO!" "I'll show you all, you'll see!" (Wait... Stevie never said this!) So, how long until "Here comes the pain!" is heard before Brock's music?
Guest Brian Report post Posted April 1, 2003 They do it because it sells shirts.

Yuna_Firerose 0 Report post Posted April 1, 2003 "I'll show you all, you'll see!" (Wait... Stevie never said this!) As the board's Stevie mark, I figured I should know this one. During his matches, for some reason, he screams "I'LL SHOW YOU!" many times. And when he first got with Victoria, after they attacked Trish, he was screaming "WE SHOWED YOU!" a few times. So....yeah, the phrase makes sense.
Guest Bricks Report post Posted April 1, 2003 Faarooq had "Damn" before his entrance when the APA split.
Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted April 1, 2003 You forgot about 1996: It's Time! It's Time! It's Vader Time(fade out to music) If we're going old school: "Enough is enough, and it's time for a change!" "The lives are gonna fade in Waylon Mercy's hands" "What A Rush!" Guest Plushy Al Logan Report post Posted April 1, 2003 OOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH "What A Rush!" I corrected it for you. Also, don't forget about the Dungeon of Doom: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Come to think of it, Ted Dibiase also laughed during his entrance theme. Hopefully they don't replace Austin's glass shattering with "WHAT?!"

Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted April 2, 2003 Nothing wrong with "Crush 'Em" if it's played at the right time, for the time it was written to be played at: hockey games. </Megadeth mark> I'd laugh if I heard "**grunt**...WHO'S NEXT?!" before the awesome drums. LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2003 The Rocks new theme doesnt say its cocky.......he says "Is cookin". "liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiives are gonna be, in waylon mercy's hands"..................know what i mean?...hahahahaha"
Guest evilhomer Report post Posted April 2, 2003 They did a good video package to "Crush Em" featuring Goldberg vignettes, but it totally sucked as an entrance theme. There's good use of catchphrases in Entrance themes and bad uses. Vader, Uncle Waylon, Hurricane, original Rock, and Booker T are examples of where it works well. These work because of good catchphrases that work with the character and a theme that allows it. "Well It's time, It's time, It's Vader Time *Huff Huff*" totally ruled. The bad examples have been mentioned. The obvious examples of Bob Holly and Farooq were just attempts to get a catchphrase over to sell some shirts. A dumb example would be the "Whooo" in front of Flair's theme. Number one because "Whoo" was already known and over, and number two because it messed with a theme that is universally known to represent Flair. There are examples where they didn't do it. "What" never came before Austin's theme. This may be because the glass breaking was well known for Austin and/or because it couldn't be worked in properly, but that's giving them a lot of credit. My guess would be that they're going to add "Who's Next" just because they want to cash in on the catchphrase and sell a few more shirts.
Guest Memoirs of an Invisible Chevy Report post Posted April 2, 2003 The Repo Man started the fad.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 2, 2003 The Repo Man started the fad. Not really, because the surge of themes with catchphrase intros weren't a "fad" until recently. Repo may have been the first one in WWF/E, but he didn't make it popular.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted April 2, 2003 That guitar rift at the beginning of Brock's song is pretty distinct, so I don't see that getting replaced. Besides, Tazz feels the need to say "Well... Here comes the pain!" at EVERY Lesnar entrance, so I don't see a need to have it in the song too.
Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted April 2, 2003 I said it before and I'll say it again; The Million Dollar cackle owns all other vocal intros of entrance themes. All Goldberg's theme needs is the cymbal crash and the slow drumbeat. No catchphrase necessary.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 2, 2003 I have a feeling that they will add the word Goldberg to the music about 85 times..

Guest areacode212 Report post Posted April 2, 2003 I always assumed it is, but since I've never heard that song outside of the WWE, I can't be sure. Don't forget "LaTIno Heaat.."
