Guest converge241 Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 well settle the age old debate i say van halen with roth - they didnt have no stinkin ballads back then..they just rocked i like van hagar but it just pales in comaprison to pre 1984
Guest JangoFett4Hire Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 JEEZ- This should be no question! CHERONE REWLZ BAYBEE
Guest mesepher Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Sammy sucks. I think 1984 was a prelude to the Sammy years... kind of an introduction to what was to come (my least favorite VH album)
Guest converge241 Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 who voted Cherone? show yourself!!
Guest JangoFett4Hire Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 OMG Someone did vote Cherone? WTF?
Guest Human Fly Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 Van Halen with Hagar was still a quality rock band, but nothing is as good as Van Halen with Roth. For pure entertainment I'll put Van Halen in their prime against any band. Since they aren't really doing anything, why don't they release Greatest Hits Vol. 2?
Guest godthedog Posted April 4, 2003 Report Posted April 4, 2003 i'll admit that in the absence of la parka, i voted for cherone as a form of protest.
Guest Lethargic Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 I voted Cherone cause I wanted to see if I could do it without breaking out in hives. I couldn't.
Guest razazteca Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Version 1 of course but Hagar did rule on the FUCK album
Guest LooseCannon Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 I guess it has been a couple months since the last time we did this poll.
Guest Vern Gagne Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Does anyone know what happened to Van Halen?
Guest converge241 Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 "I guess it has been a couple months since the last time we did this poll. " yes if the board saved for as long as it used to we could just continue to pontificate on it. it will always re-appear and yes carnal was IMO the best van hagar album
B. Brian Brunzell Posted April 5, 2003 Report Posted April 5, 2003 Roth all the way. There really is no comparison. I have a theory about Van Halen and Van Hagar: Van Halen wrote "love" songs about pussy and ass, while as Van Hagar wrote pussy-ass love songs. Bow down in front of the almighty David Lee. He owns every last one of us, and we all know it.
Guest C-Bacon Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 Wow, im the first person to vote for Hagar. Guess it's cause i got into them when Sammy was fronting the band. I also perfer his vocals and the sound was a little more diverse on his records
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted April 6, 2003 Report Posted April 6, 2003 mesepher, when you say your least favourite VH album was 1984, do you mean Van Hagar or Van Halen? Obviously anything regarding Van Halen that didn't have Roth in the band sucked ass.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I started a thread on this a few months ago, and I said before, and here, that Sammy rules. Mas Tequila!
Guest mesepher Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 mesepher, when you say your least favourite VH album was 1984, do you mean Van Hagar or Van Halen? Obviously anything regarding Van Halen that didn't have Roth in the band sucked ass. I only count the first six albums as true Van Halen albums... and out of those six, 1984 is by far the worst. I even gave "For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge" a chance... and it blew the big one. Van Halen wrote "love" songs about pussy and ass, while as Van Hagar wrote pussy-ass love songs. excellent~!!!
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted April 7, 2003 Report Posted April 7, 2003 I have a question, why is there Pepsi jokes about Sammy all over the internet?
Guest goodhelmet Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 most successful- van hagar best singer- van cherone best band- the original van halen also mesepher, 1984 is only the worst album if you are looking at it as a guitar-oriented album (which it is not). the worst album is far and away diver down. a bunch of covers and a couple of novelty songs. zzzzzzz (although big bad bill RULES)
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 The original lineup was easily the best but I do like some of the early Van Hagar stuff. My band cranked out Best Of Both Worlds playing in the basement for the first time all together and when we finished we looked around and said "Holy shit, that wasn't bad!"
Guest JangoFett4Hire Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 the pepsi jokes come from the commercials fro crystal pepsi using "right now" as the music
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 the pepsi jokes come from the commercials fro crystal pepsi using "right now" as the music I've never seen the commercial, but I've seen an SNL skit promoting Crystal Gravy using a similar song. Thank you!
Guest converge241 Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 YAY crystal gravy! thats up ther with the cookie dough/gatorade for weird snl food/beverage commercials i bet hagar and the band have a warehouse full of "pulled from the shelves when abandoned" full crystal pepsi bottles
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 YAY crystal gravy! thats up ther with the cookie dough/gatorade for weird snl food/beverage commercials i bet hagar and the band have a warehouse full of "pulled from the shelves when abandoned" full crystal pepsi bottles That would explain his Mas Tequila that he keeps speaking of.
Guest raptor Posted April 8, 2003 Report Posted April 8, 2003 I like Van Halen and Van Hagar, but I enjoy listening to Hagar more. Never heard Cherone, however. Mas Tequila, indeed.
