Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I am not sure what the hell it is all about, and quite frankly could care less, except for the fact that Jim Ross is gone for a bit. How long will this last, and how long before Jim Ross is shown backstage bringing back Austin AGAIN......

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Hopefully it lasts awhile. Coach isn't all that, but at least he doesn't annoy me. I needed a break from JR, especially if they're going to go anywhere with this "Chris Nowinski, War Protestor" thing.
Guest Aero Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I hope JR stays out for much longer. I'd take Coach over him anyday. A night can't go by without JR making 50 mistakes these days. On a minor note, was it really necessary for JR to call Rock a "Chickenshit" when he refused to fight Goldberg? He could've easily used "coward" or simply the word "scared". As for length of absense... yup, one week should do it...

Guest JDMattitudeV1 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 JR just annoys me now. He has to sell every thing as it is either the biggest miscarriage of justice of all time, or the greatest thing to ever happen to the planet earth. I watched the Wrestlemania X8 match between HHH and Jericho last night, and his verbal blowjobs for HHH are just pathetic, made even more so by the fact that the crowd just couldn't give a shit. And don't even get me started on the "STONE COLD, STONE COLD, BA GAWD!" shit. I just hope it is for a while, but to be honest I can't see his absence being for more than 2 weeks. Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted April 8, 2003 None of the current announcers who could take his place excite me. Coach is ok, Cat and Josh don't do anything for me, Lita sucks, etc. Stone Cold won't be back at least as a wrestler so hopefully we won't see JR again. Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I can deal with Coach on Raw. Since it's a more serious show then Heat he seems to take it that way. I'm so tired of Ross. I know it's how he has to play his charcter off and everything, but to hear him you'd never know that Austin's kicked his ass more then a few times. He'll love him one week and "damn his black soul" the next. He was just fired like a goddamn month ago. WWE is so out of stories they have to rehash recient shit. Ross seemed to get his worst when Jerry came back. Least Paul E kept him on his toes. I could care less about Raw right now...I've seen Austin vs The Boss a million times already, and I've seen it done much better.

This isn't anything against you, specifically, but I've watched HHH/Jericho more than a few times and the crowd isn't as dead as people seem to say it was. And I'm not saying it was super hot, but it wasn't dead. I think part of the reason for it isn't because of who was in it, but because it was second down the line from the superhot Rock/Hogan. But I don't buy claims that it was dead or they couldn't "give a shit." Again, that's not personal against you. Just something I don't understand. While JR can be overbearing and is getting a bit sloppy, I still love him for nostalgic reasons. It may be time for someone else to take the spot, though. I wouldn't mind Coach, since he's the best of the second tier, IMO.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I like the Coach. I think he's a good pbp guy and Raw desparately needs some new blood in the annoucer booth. The only part that sucks is that we'll probably have Mark Lloyd on Heat.

Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I say give goldust a shot as the color commentator. That would be more entertaining than the King.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 8, 2003 The Goldust thing does work better now that they're playing it off as comedy as opposed to a "serious medical condition"
Guest Gary Busey Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Yeah, time to get rid of good ol' JR. Didn't he mistake Test for Edge last week, or the week before, briefly? It was one of his little slips, but Edge hasn't been on Raw in over a year! JR was awesome, and is cool for nostalgic reasons relating to the hot Attitude era, but I say get him off the air and let him handle his business backstage. Watching old tapes and PPVs would be great to hear JR in his prime. Just like people want Flair, Taker, Austin to retire while they still have dignity, so should JR and King. I say put Coach and Paul E out there. Slowly but surely change is being forced on Raw, no matter how bad the company fights it.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted April 8, 2003 It will last untill Stone Cold comes back to RAW, and someone takes the GM spot from Eric Bishoff, at which time Stone Cold will give JR his job back. I thought this was obvious, heh.
Guest Lil Naitch Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Hell, put Austin out there as an anouncer. Or get Ventura. He's not doing anything these days. How about Bret? He can't wrestle, but he's good on the stick. Or Tony? hell, anybody's better than Coach!
Garth 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 How about they bring in Steve Corino for a while before eventully moving him into in ring competition. Corino IMO did an excellent job as commentator on RoH

Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Austin has said he'd have no interest in doing a color commentary job, which is a shame. Right now, I don't think he could make the transition from main eventer to color commentary in the blink of an eye, but over time, that could be very fun. But why am I writing about a replacement color commentator when it is JR- the play by play man- that quit? Because if you are getting a replacement for JR, then you need one for the King as well. Remember how awful Michael Cole had been for so long and how he was a whipping boy? At what point did he start to become acceptable? When he quit having to work with the King and he started working with Tazz. They developed their own style (one that I like a LOT more than the Raw announce style, mind you). Putting anybody else with Jerry Lawler and it will just feel like somebody else is sitting in JR's seat. If you want a new Raw pbp guy, then you need a new color guy too. Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Last week when Austin was "fired" and JR went on about Bischoff destroying Austin's hopes and dreams, I had a good chuckle. I mean come on, azif Austin is some young, up & comer in the business that just got his oppurtunity stolen or something. And, for the mere fact that Doctors would not clear him to wrestle seems like enough to keep him out of action for ANYONE outside the kayfabe world. Jim Ross is not only annoying but Nonsensical as well. Hopefully he is gone for good, and hopefully Lawler is NEXT.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted April 8, 2003 I still say this is just a setup for Austin to become the GM, and the he'll just "rehire" JR.

Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 8, 2003 bring Don by god Callis back...he loves TNN ill never forget the graphic they gave him at one of the last PPVs, it said Cyrus- Hes Got Pop GERTNER: "We've got pop?! We've got pop?! Joey, that's the 2nd stupidest thing I've ever heard!" STYLES: "And what's the first, Joel?" GERTNER: "TNN's old slogan." STYLES: "What was that?" GERTNER: "We fuck pigs." Sorry, just had to lay that one out there. The show got funny once ECW knew they were getting kicked off tv.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2003 Just have Bischoff fill the play by play booth himself. He's done it before, and I would take him over JR any day. Yeah right, back when he actually did a halfway decent job.... what was that, 96, 97? He's just too damned smarmy being the GM and being on the stick. I would take Schiavone at this point because he's a proven vet for play-by-play... actually when I think about it, he and JR made a good team way back in 87 doing the first War Games match... too bad Tazz is on SD, because I think he and Schiavone would make a good team, then again I'm stilll a touch bitter over what they have done to/with Tazz since he came from ECW.
