More on Goldberg/Jericho

Recommended Posts

Guest EternallyLazy

To follow up on yesterday's story concerning the backstage altercation between Bill Goldberg and Chris Jericho, we have more information on the story. From what we have learned, Jericho was upset because Goldberg had reportedly made a disparaging comment backstage earlier in the evening about Jericho being "small" and not liking to sell for people. The comment reportedly made its way back to Jericho and when Jericho came back through the curtain after his match, according to several witnesses, he confronted Goldberg about it. The two men then got into it right then and there. According to a few different reports, Goldberg grabbed Chris by the throat and Chris slapped his arm away. Jericho then put him in a front facelock and then they went to the ground, where they were then separated.

WWE.com has a story up where WWE superstars comment on Bill Goldberg's coming to WWE. As you would expect, they are all glowing statements that should be on the company's website. Off the record though, people are saying much different things about Goldberg. One wrestler told us, "In less than a week, Goldberg proved what he's all about. He can't work, he can't talk, and he's a backstage disaster." Another said, "Outside of the ring, Bill is a great guy but the second he gets into the locker room and the ring, he becomes a different person. As nice and caring as he is away from the ring, he's the exact opposite inside it." Summing it up best, one former WCW and now WWE star said, "I don't think the guy realizes that the business is a work." People are also telling me that they applaud Jericho for standing up to Goldberg and more than holding his own against him. Many in the company are wondering how long Goldberg can last in the company. However long it ends up being, this certainly is not a good start to get off too.

I'll believe it when Willie the Worker mentions it.

Jericho slapped him in a front face lock after he got grabbed by the throat??? Either that move will end a fight real quick or Jericho is a LOT calmer than most people I know.

I told you that Jericho more than likely got in Goldberg's face instead of the other way around.

A correctly applied front face lock can end a fight quickly with almost anyone

I think it's a case of Jericho being calmer than most, because it looks like he wasn't trying to hurt him badly (with say a punch). I thought goldie had some sambo training which should have done a lot more for him, and Jericho's smarter than we thought.

Maybe so... but I find the notion of BILL GOLDBERG of all people talking about Jericho's "no selling" to be humerous and just a little ridiculous

Hey Kettle... the pot's on the phone. He says you're black

Still Goldberg initiated contact. Whether Jericho confronted him or not is irrelevant.

If someone confronted me at work and basically said I was doing my job poorly I'd probably be pretty pissed too and say they started it, especially when it ain't true. I've never seen Jericho not sell for someone.

I think as punishment, they'll just have Nash pin Jericho at the next PPV and on all of the house shows and tv tapings from now until his quad tears again.

So let me get this straight. Goldberg starts spreading things around about Jericho, which is low down high school locker room beavoir, Jericho takes it to him Face to Face, Goldberg grabs Jerichos throat, initiating hostile contact, Jericho ends the fight quickly and effectively, but hardly violently, and you blame Jericho? Riiiiiiight.

Oh yeah It certainly can't be the Golden Child's Fault... Jesus christ man. If this is true, then Goldberg should be on Shit duty. Talkin shit backstage, hell Im sure everyone does it.........

but usually people generally can resolve this shit by talking or even by arguing...... But Goldy Slaps a Choke on Jericho???? Thats condonable because HE's GOLDBERG the SAVIOR??? Fuck that. if its true that jericho just SLAPPED it off. Ohh Yea Jericho is just a Unstable Powderkeg eh???

and a Front facelock, Wow he is just abusing Goldy.

point is, Goldberg got no reason to do that shit to anyone.

This isn't WCW he isn't the single handed Monster anymore.. and he is believing his Press too much. Sooner or later the Lockerroom will black ball him and he'll get the hint and go back to Japan where he feels more comfy in trying to look big and bad.

If anything, jericho is one of the better sellers (heh) in the company. No matter who his opponent is, he's always flailing around and taking hits. Look at how he sold for Maven and John Cena months back

In conclusion, Goldberg is a dumbass, and I'm glad Jericho took him down. So Jericho got him in a front facelock, then they went down to the ground. If jericho still had that facelock on, then imo there's no question, Jericho is the winner! Begin to spread the word around the internet, Jericho kicked Goldberg's ass

Unfortunatly, Jericho is screwed imo. He will be punished for this (or perhaps nobody will be, but 'berg sure won't). Who will guys like Nash, Hogan, Bischoff, side with? Take a wild guess. The comments i'm sure are from people who are the good workers and know Jericho, nobody with real influence. And even though HHH may hate Goldberg... he knows the hhh/goldberg feud will make his ass some money, so he'll be against jericho. i can just see it now "Goldberg-uuhh may have been unprofessional in those comments Chris-uhhh but you shouldnt-uhh have confronted him-uuuhhh and started the fight-uuhhh"

We need Bradshaw and Taker on Raw so they can take this incident to Wrestler Court. (for any of you who read the Hardyz book)

I knew no one would be able to overcome Goldberg hate and blame Jericho. He started the fight, he confronted Goldberg, he is to blame. We don't even know what Goldberg said, it could have been something in passing or just joking with a friend, and Jericho took it the wrong way.

There is NO excuse for someone getting in someones face in an unprofesional manner, period. Like I said, I don't care WHO does it.

Jesus, you are so blind sometimes, I swear. Ok, so Jericho was somewhat wrong to actually get physical about it but what in the fuck is Goldberg doing going around and talking shit about people when he's been with the company for two fuckin' weeks? He's a waste of money and bringin him in shows just desperate Vince really is. The guy can't talk, he can't work, he has no love for the business, thinks he's above the business, and yet you defend him. Unreal.

So wait, talking shit about a fellow worker behind his back is professional? Like someone said, Jericho didn't even seem to be out to hurt him, hence he just put him in a front facelock. It has nothing to do with how we feel about any wrestler, it's the fact that Goldberg was talking some garbage and couldn't back it up. And I highly doubt that that dry motherfucker was "joking." He has a better chance of learning how to work before he gets a sense of humor.

Once again ladies and gentlemen, my opinion means I'm simply "blind", how mature.

If Goldberg went up to Jericho, I'd be blaming HIM, I really do not care WHO does it, because it's wrong, ESPECIALLY at this point in time in WWE.

By the way, I like Goldberg, simply because he entertains me. If you can't, for some reason, put up with that, then I really feel sorry for you.

Ok, granted we don't know what exactly was said but the reported information says that Goldberg was talking shit about Jericho backstage. I made my opinion based on the information we were given. If what was reported was indeed true was it professional for Goldberg to talk shit about Jerich in that manner?? No it isn't, no matter who does it. Well, maybe Vince could do it. ;)

I'm not saying Jericho was faultless either, but it's not completely Jericho's fault. You just kinda heaped everything onto Jericho saying he was the unprofessional one.

No it's not professional to talk behind someones back, but face it, that goes on all of the time. I don't know what to say about this instance because I, and all of you, do not know how or what was said. Getting in someones face and starting a fight is a totally different situation however, it's uncalled for. I've ALWAYS put down people who did it, I do not pick sides in cases like that, it's uncalled for it. Hell, it's uncalled for Goldberg for taking the bait and joining Jericho in the "fight".

Goldberg should have complained to management.

heh.... Yea its Jericho's fault in asking why he was talking shit...He deserves to get some Dramatic Choke by Golden Boy.

It would make no sense that Goldberg would go up to the guy he was talkin shit about...

Goldberg: Hey Jericho You Suck and your Small and you don't Selllll Sticks his Tongue out and walks towards his Limo.

I don't give a damn about the VERBAL confrontation. Reports say that GOLDBERG initiated physical contact by grabbing Jericho by his throat. There is a huge different between verbal and physical and if Goldberg grabbed Jericho's throat first, then Goldberg is more at fault than Jericho.

By executing a front face lock, Jericho shows that he has more patience than I. I would've kicked the motherfucker in the balls

DH, it seems like Goldberg started the physical violence.

Yes, but "talk" is a lot more safe than trying to start a real life fight. That is totally not using your head, as you are risking injury not only to the one that you are in a fight with, but even yourself. It's not smart, it's a lot worse than just making a passing comment, period.

Trust me, when I hear a report about Goldberg going up to someone and trying to start something like this, I'll be on him just as I would be on anyone. Fuck, I was VERY much on Flair for what he did with Bishoff a while ago, and Flair is my favorite Pro. Wrestler of all time.
