Guest EternallyLazy Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 TNN ANNOUNCES NAME CHANGE by Dave Scherer Updated: 4/15/2003 3:25:54 PM TNN announced today that on June 16 they will change the name of the network to "Spike TV". It will be the next step in their bid to be the first network dedicated solely to catering to men. They will unveil the new logo on at the MTV Networks upfront presentation in New York City on Tuesday, May 6. They signed partnerships with Men's Health magazine and CBS MarketWatch and will launch a multi-million dollar ad campaign to promote awareness of the new name. Of course, WWE programming will be a focal point of the network. Spike TV?!? I would make fun of this... but it parodies itself
Guest The Superstar Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Spike Dudley will make guest appearances on every show. AND be pushed on Raw.
Guest j.o.b. squad Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 schoudent they be the middleadged tnn then the old tnn then spike tv
Guest Nevermortal Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 1.....2.........SPIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!! (KOC Fans will get that....)
Guest Steve J. Rogers Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 With special apperances by Spike from Gremlins and James Marsters (Spike on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer)
Guest EternallyLazy Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I don't know what's worse... this Spike TV crap or the ridiculously stupid "we've got pop" campaign that thankfully died months ago
Guest Choken One Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Ahh...Post in between a Double Post...Love it... SPIKE? TNN sounded like a respectable network name...Not SPIKE.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 This could be the single worst idea in the history of the planet. Spike TV sounds like a bad reality show, or a gay porn chanel.
Guest Coffey Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 "Spike TV" isn't the best of names, but it's a helluva lot better than "The Nashville Network." Or The NEW TNN... (The New Nashville Network?). We've got pop! (The new Nashville Network has pop?).
Guest Eagan469 Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 So we've went from... The Nashville Network "we're country!" to The National Network "we've got pop!" to Spike TV "we're flaming homosexuals!"
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I find nothing at all wrong with Spike TV
Guest Super Pissed Smark Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Isn't there already a volleyball channel out there somewhere with this name?
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Women have Lifetime and Oxygen and we get Spike TV? Who came up with that name?
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Too....many.....jokes.....can't.....think
Guest Harry Hood Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 been you to have any spike man? let's see if anyone gets that refernece?
Guest evilhomer Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 The Nashville Network "we're country!" I thought the slogan was "We fuck pigs" That's what Gertner said it was.
Guest AndrewTS Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 The Nashville Network "we're country!" I thought the slogan was "We fuck pigs" That's what Gertner said it was. Actually, he said "sheep." Spike TV...hmm. Will drinking now be required to watch the network? Will they show Cowboy Bebop? Will we see football of some kind (XFL reruns?)? Will viewers get ideas of what to drive through their eyes during a bad Raw? Will they be making Fire Pro games now? Suckas gots to know. Jayzus. You know that TNN at one point opted to hire a bunch of preppy young TV executives who decided they wanted to move the network in a new direction.
Mecha Mummy Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Andrew, you have stolen every joke I could have used, and I will never forgive you for it.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 SPIKE TV........................... It will be weird to hear the name be said.... Lawler: Yes! It's Trish versus Victoria, bra and panties.........ON SPIKE TV!! WHOO HOO!
Guest Anglesault Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I just don't get it. Am I missing something?
Guest RedJed Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 I just don't get it. Am I missing something? Thats what I was going to say..........how does calling a channel "Spike" equate it being a "guy stuff" channel? Anyway just watch the ratings do a nice "spike" downward when this campaign begins, probably with all the TNN shows, err "Spike TV" shows.......just like the WWE they think promotional manuevers will grab interest. I think any of us could probably think of a better legitmate name change for TNN than this, and thats saying ALOT, no offense lol.
Guest DerangedHermit Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Next they'll change it to Buh Buh TV.....
Guest CED Ordonez Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 In the event a piledriver is used on WWE Raw, a second wrestler will be required to jump from the second turnbuckle and push downward on the boots of the recipient. Also, a move involving the thrusting of one's thumb into the throat area of the opponent will make a comeback. The move is rumored to have Asiatic origins.
Bored Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Jeez I can't believe I'm the first one to come up with this new slogan: Spike TV...WE GOT COCK!
Bored Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Spike TV "we're flaming homosexuals!" So when Spike TV debuts that is when HHH, Nash, and HBK will finally give into their temptations? Get the KY kids HHH is assuming the position!
Guest The Czech Republic Posted April 15, 2003 Report Posted April 15, 2003 Come on. Scantily-clad men (WWF), men in pink suits (Miami Vice), and the fagtastic name. This "Spike TV" is obviously going to be Viacom's homosexual network they've had planned for so long. http://www.post-gazette.com/tv/20020504gaytv7.asp
