New Backlash card

Any combination. I just cling to certain wrestlers for random reasons. I can't really explain it. If I think a wrestler has a certain look, I just like em. It has nothing to do with what they do on screen...it's more of a first impression sort of thing.

I don't understand it whatsoever, but at least you're honest about it and simply state it for what it is, rather than venomously defending X wrestler and attacking everyone else for hating X wrestler.

Why would I give a shit what other people thought? I'm my own person with my own opinions. :) I like a lot of people that get shit on these boards. Like Hogan & Goldberg.

Some people like to think we're at fault for ripping on those guys, so they lash out. However, since you're not doing that, that's cool.

We have all heard the tired old opinions cliche's, so no need to repeat them here. :)

It just comes down to personal preference.

It has nothing to do with his character man. It's about him as a person in this case. I've met him and he's cool as shit. He can do no wrong to me. He has a great look, and he made me mark out with his Cruel Intentions finisher for a couple of months. I liked him in WCW and I liked him when he was on RAW. I like the direction that it appeared that he was headed with his new gimmick, and now I'll get to see it.

It's not like I've never seen a wrestler botch a spot or flub a line during the last 16 years of watching wrestling.

You know...my two favorite wrestlers (RVD and The Truth) aren't very good workers (and to be fair...RVD is downright aweful half the time)...but I still like them. And yet I somehow got labeled as a workrate guy for hating Hogan, HHH, Goldbreg, Nash...

I don't know dude. I bet it's close. Over the course of the last months, everything you've said I've pretty much agreed with.

I really like Sean O'Haire, Randy Orton & Chief Morley. In fact, those might be my three favorite WWE workers right now...which is saying a lot since I can't even watch Sean O'Haire & Randy Orton is out with an injury.

I still mark for the guys that I used to mark for before I had internet too. Nash, Hogan, Goldberg, Sting, etc.

If you'd like to actually have a conversation over it, JoshFromTheBlock is my AIM s/n.

I love all of those guys also. Hell, Morely REALLY won me over when he busted out that Sling Shot Suplex, I think I'm a fan for life of his for sure just because of that now, lol. I'll always mark out for who I used to, they will always "remain" with me, it's just how I am.

I do not really care for Spike Dudley, Rikishi, and Mark Henry. I think those are the only guys I really even come close to hating. There are PLENTY of guys I'd like to see in WWE just for the hell of it, and plenty of guys I'd mark out for very much so.

LOL, I think Rikishi has potential and could be a main eventer...

Well I actually agree with that, if he would just fucking change his gimmick. When he FIRST re-debuted as Rikishi Fatu, on that late show they had, I already forget the name, I thought he'd be going places. I loved his move set, his look, and everything. As he is now however, it's just too watered down for my taste. I don't think I can ever enjoy him as long as he keeps his thong, and his Stink Face.

Yeah, I'd move him to RAW and put him as the leader of 3MW. He'd wear clothes like his red Rikishi wear outfit, and he could finish with his splash that he used to use as the Sultan and as a Headshrinker.

You see, THEN I'd like the guy. I wish he would bring back his Driver and the Ace Crusher he did, he really had a pretty cool move set once upon a time.

Banzai Drop was credible too. I wasn't fond of his Ace Crusher because he never hit it correctly. Also, it makes the Dudley Death Drop seem less credible in my eyes.

His Ace Crusher is better than just about anything he does now damnit, heh. I have always been a fan of the Banzai Drop also, always.

So is Mark Henry or Spike Dudely just about dead weight to you?

I liked Spike in ECW. Mark Henry is blah. He has a cool spot though...the one where he sets his opponent up in the 6-1-9 postion, then jumps on them and slides all the way out the ring in doing so. I mark for that.

I liked Spike in ECW also, but he just isn't the same guy now. At least in ECW he had a purpose most of the time. As for Mark Henry, I've marked for him once...once. That being one time where D'Lo was being beat down, and Mark Henry returned to save him.

I don't get all the sean o'haire hatred around here, but to each his own.

I've marked for hime since wcw where I found him an impressive worker who was getting over huge.

In keith's book he says that if the fusient deal with bischoff had gone through he would have centered the company around the guy!

I'm just happy the guy is gonna be on a ppv but they REALLY need to push his character into interesting directions and that's something I have no confidence in vince to do.

The build-up with the vignettes was pure genius but then they killed any heat he could get by having him do stupid little stunts(Kendrick streaking anyone?) that were completely pointless.

They have a decent thing going with his association with piper and I can only hope he becomes the breakout performer he has the potential to be.

Bah. Terrible card. Maybe get a **1/2 match somewhere at best.

Downhome...Jago...I agree. Apart from Mark Henry. He's a funny comedy performer when he gets the chance. I don't mean May Young and Sammy though. Like with Chyna. He could work as a comedy wrestler if Vince wasn't so determined to ruin him. Spike's better off in ECW where he could bump his ass off.

Like you guys, I only hate a few wrestlers really. I can watch an A-Train match. Rikishi isn't that bad. I don't mind Big Show either...when they're all booked ok that is.

We have all heard the tired old opinions cliche's, so no need to repeat them here.

Lol, I tried to say that before but it looked like I went off on one over the HHHate. Lol, and you sum it up two sentences. I like Sean O'Haire. He's an agile big man, so he's gonna get a push. He's got enough charisma etc. I agree with AS though...he needs to learn when to use his gimmick, and now how to adapt it.

Anyway, I'm not too fussed about the card. It doesn't look great. Well, on paper it looks pretty bad. Can see from the under card that Rock-Goldberg is going to be a long one. Anyway, on with the...err...analysis.

*Rock vs. Bill Goldberg

People say The Rock is gonna carry this. Probably will. But the point is, he'll be bumping his ass off. Goldberg will bust out the power moves, and eventually win. It's almost a certainty Goldberg'll win.

*Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena or Chris Benoit (taped last night, check spoilers if you're interested in outcome)

Should be interesting. See if Lesnar can carry the match.

*Booker T & Kevin Nash & Shawn Michaels vs. HHH & Ric Flair & Chris Jericho

Ok, the HHHate and Nash hate is off the charts around here, so forgive me for saying this should be interesting. No 5 star classic, but it'll be a good match to watch from a storyline POV.

*Team Angle vs. Los Guerreros for tag titles

This seems a little rushed, but it'll be a solid match

*Trish Stratus vs. Jazz for womens title

Should have went for the 3 Way Intergender Tag idea. We need Steven and Victoria! Oh, and Mack and Jeff. This'll be solid enough too though.

*Sean O'Haire vs. Rikishi

Talk about rushed. This match is only here to build up a pointless Piper return. No reason for it. No reason for the Rikishi attack...it's like Vince said on Smackdown a couple of weeks back...'Hogan, I'll turn the clock back 20 years if I have to.' Congrats Vince, you're nearly there.

*Rey Mysterio vs. Big Show

This one seems pretty obvious who'll win. Remember the tourney on Smackdown, where Taker shook Rey's hand. Rey's getting pushed. This is porbably just to build him up as a giant killer.

I'm presuming a three-way with Dudleys vs. Storm & Morley vs. Van Dam & Kane for Raw tag titles

I should hope so!

Ok, so what about Benoit and Rhyno? What about Matt and Kendrick? I guess F.B.I vs Taker and Jones has been put on hold cause of Taker's elbow surgery. No Stevie and Victoria. No Hurricane. No Hardy. Possibly no RVD and Kane. It could be better, but hell it's obviously a bit of a throw-away show anyway. I'll be watching as ever...but then, I do get the PPV's for free so there.

when was the last time Rikishi wrestled a match at a PPV not counting the Royal Rumble?

I think it was Judgment Day last year.

Why does Vince have every new heel on Smackdown face Rikishi anyway?

Because Rikishi is the solid midcard face on Smackdown that has no posibility of ever getting any higher on the card. So you can sacrifice him or put him over with no worries.

I understand your point.

But they usual make the guys job to him.

Like Cena and the FBI for instance.

WWE should be concerned about us more...i think those of us who get PPV's get them out of habit. That's ok, but only if the habit is enjoyable. If not, it gets chipped away.

The June PPV for me is one i may have to miss...i just am not feeling a show where the scheduled high point will be a HHH match....

That's just so Rikishi doesn't turn into Funaki where a victory over him means absolutely nothing. He hovers around .500 and loses to anyone that WWE really wants to get over (ie Cena w/ Bull Buchanan being goofy = loss, Cena w/ harder edge = win). The FBI aren't and never will be serious threats as long as they don't have a second serious guy to stick with Palumbo in the tag ranks.

But he put over Cena over quite convincingly on the 3.27.2003 Smackdown, even to a degree that it surprised everyone in the arena.

Rikishi will still keep his heat, even when he DOES cleanly job to the incoming heel.

It happened with Cena pre-Wrestlemania, it'll happen with O'Haire at Backlash.

And I'll have to agree with Jago on one of his favorites. Sean Morley has everything going for him, including the promo ability, charisma, technical and aerial skill to be the next WWE superstar. The thing is, he needs an educated push such as the one that Edge received in mid-2001. The current gimmick will do, IMO.

If I was Vince, I would use Mark Henry, I just wouldn't use him as a wrestler. I honestly feel that the man has enough charisma and the such to be a great manager. He has a cool look in a suit, and e could either be very sleezy guy that the fans could hate, or could also play the part of a cool/funny guy that the fans could get behind.

It's better than him in the ring.

I'm not exactly sure why, but Vince has this thing now where he wants just about every employee to get in the ring anymore. I mean, when Jim Ross has been in something like 3 matches this year, something is totally messed up.

Sean 'O Haire DOES use that line at the wrong time. I can just imagine a promo with Rikishi in the ring and him on the ramp......

Rikishi --- I'm gonna beat your ass down at Backlash boy.

O'Haire ---- You probably COULD kick my ass Rikishi....but, hell, im not telling you anything you don't already know.

Tazz ---- Uuuum............uh.........Cole.....did O'Haire just admit that Rikishi can kick his ass?

Cole ----- How about that? He's getting into his head Tazz.....it's all a part of his plan to get into Rikishi's psyche!!!!!!! He's playing mind games with the Kish.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

ok, let's see here.

Trish vs. Jazz

- crap

Show vs. Rey

- Rey brings his "kick in the nuts" finisher out of mothballs. crap.

Raw Clusterfuck (Heat).

- RVD has been brought down to the level of the other 5 guys. Oh, by the way, crap.

Raw Clusterfuck (PPV)

- I predict an HHH-Booker double turn. Then on Raw, HHH presents Nash and HBK with thier own championship belts.

(ps - Unless Booker and Jericho are in the ring for no less than 70% of the match, crap.)

OHaire vs. Rikishi

- crap.

Angles vs. Guerreros

- no build up, but should be good anyway due to the wrestling. will not be crap.

Lesnar vs. someone

- my comments would give away the 2nd participant. For now, let's just say "crap"

Undertaker getting injured

- AWESOME

Hardy vs. Spanky

- Should be good. If it happens. <_<

Goldberg vs. Rock

- People are saying that Rock will have to carry Goldberg. When I hear the phrase "Rock will have to carry", the first thing that comes to mind is "crap"

Call me cynical, but I'll pass on this show

PS- It took me a looooong time to remember that all these matches. So any I forgot must be positively atrocious, so fuck em.
