Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I just hope the rest of the playoffs are as good as the first three days have been. Besides 2 or 3 games, every game has been fun to watch. We've already had upsets, big comebacks, 50 plus scoring, 3 point winners....it's kicked ass so far.

Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Good to see the Spurs pull that victory out. But I see that series being a complete dogfight. I see this going seven games. The key here was Duncan's adjustment. He was moving around more, and making the Sun's double teams less effective. I think if the Suns had a center, then they would win this going away. Also a key was Marion being a non factor tonight. The Problem is that the Spurs depend so much on the 3 pointer to relieve the pressure for Duncan that when they start shooting bricks this it is very hard for them to get rebounds which has only Duncan or the SF to chase the offensive rebound while the Suns stacks up the coverage with 4 players in the middle. Spurs need to use the guards more effective such as having Speedy Claxton or Parker or Ginobli go for layups down the middle and continue to start Danny Ferry for defense. After the teams missed 15 3-pointers I think it would wise for them the Spurs to change the strategy, they just lucky in the forth quarter when Ferry made the 3 pointer in the 4th quarter to kick start the game winning run. I hate Popavich for depending so much on the Tim Duncan for offensive in the middle while some role players like Malik Rose who made 20 points in the 1st game do nothing in game 2 because he could not make a 3 pointer. Its time to throw some elbows and get physical in the paint for the rebounds, Duncan cannot do it himself.

Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 22, 2003 I was watching the Orlando game over the weekend and I think he proved once again that he is hands down better than Kobe. Explain. Words cannot do him enough justice. Not only was he able to make his teammates better but when the Pistons came back in the beggining on the 4th to pull within 2 or 3 points, T-Mac went on like a 13-0 run against the Pistons by himself. I really think that if he played for LA and Kobe played for Orlando, then T-Mac would be getting all the hype that Kobe gets. I'm not saying that Kobe sucks, but T-Mac's a better all around player than Bryant.

We all saw what he could do when he was the sole focus of the offence -- he ran off 13 straight games of 35 or better. Plus, I think Kobe is better defensively. Guest Masked Heel Report post Posted April 22, 2003 McGrady isn't even a better all around player, he's got great moves for a big man but as far as star players in the NBA. I think he falls low on the list with the Jermaine O'Neals and the Paul Peirce's, they are stars but not superstars like a Shaq or a Duncan or a Iverson. If you want to see the next big thing look at Dirk Nowinski that man will be a huge star carrying Dallas for many years. p.s. look for another Laker win tonight 2-

I think he falls low on the list with the Jermaine O'Neals and the Paul Peirce's He falls below Jermaine O'Neal? Right. Besides, he's not a big man, he's like an inch taller than Kobe. McGrady is a one-man show, while Kobe has to balance his game with Shaq. We all saw what he could do when he was the sole focus of the offence Yeah we did see what he could do without Shaq. Weren't the Lakers like 5 - 15 or something like that to start the season? T-Mac has been able to elevate his teammates whether its guys like Vaughn, Giricek, Declerk or any of the other no names in that team. Kobe has proven veterans like Fox, Horry and to a lesser extent Fisher. Like I said, Kobe has some skills but he is WAAAAAAY overrated
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Kobe isn't the least bit overrated. He's defensivley better than McGrady, he's carried the Lakers when Shaq was getting back into playing shape. McGrady has a pure scorer might be better, but Kobe possess the better all around game.
Guest AlwaysPissedOff Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Jermaine O'Neal was a beast tonight; has anyone else come close to 20 rebounds yet in the playoffs? Garnett had 14 in Game 1. Of course the "MVPs" didn't show up, Duncan and Garnett... KG didn't show up? When you're just 3 assists away from a triple double with 23 points and 14 rebounds, I'd say he showed up. If anything, I'd say Saunders was an idiot for putting KG on Fox/Horry/George instead of putting him on Kobe because Wally is not a good defender and was getting burnt left and right. Guest HHH123007 Report post Posted April 22, 2003 Jersey STILL can't sell out the Meadowlands - that's crazy Maybe it's the fact that their team can put insomniacs to sleep with their play this year...
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2003 T-Mac and Kobe are almost completely evenly matched. I had kept an eye on T-Mac back when he was up in Toronto, and when he came down to play my Magic, he would *destroy* Penny Hardaway, back when Penny was considered one of the best guards in the league. Penny was a player that T-Mac idolized, and the Raptors made a HUGE mistake in letting him go, thinking that Vince Carter was the solution to all of their problems. Kobe deserves all of the hype he gets after playing as well as he did in Game 1. having the most dominant player in the game at the 5 position does help a lot, though. The simple fact that Kobe has Shaq to take some pressure off makes T-Mac a better player in my book, but only by a slight margin. They tend to go at each other a lot when the Lakers and Magic play, and it almost always comes out roughly even in points, though T-Mac is a better rebounder and racks up more assists than Kobe does. Defensively, Kobe has gotten better every season, and is very close to T-Mac in that regard, but I still think T-Mac is slightly better. In the end, I think that if Kobe stopped listening to everyone proclaiming him the next Michael Jordan (and more to the point stopped *acting* as if he was), he could actually surpass Jordan is he stays healthy and focused. He's going to need to, because The World's Biggest 12-Year-Old (my pet name for Shaq) is not going stay in the league very much longer, *perhaps* another 2-3 years. So is Kobe overhyped? No. Is he better than T-Mac? its getting too close to call.

Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Lakers didn't show up. Really simple has that. The Wolves have been blown out a few times in Game 1, won Game 2 and gotten people's hopes up. Only to return home and lose two straight home games.

Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted April 23, 2003 My friends...THAT was an ass whippin. Troy Hudson, you my friend deserve a gold star. Seriously, somebody better buy that fucker dinner tonight cause he was the difference. I honestly don't remember a playoffs that kicked this much ass. I haven't seen a bad game frankly. Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Well the Lakers and Wolves have both won their games rather easily. I wouldn't call blowouts exiting, unless the team you like is winning.
Guest Crazy Dan Report post Posted April 23, 2003 In the first game played, Millaukee played a whole lot better and was able to tie up the series. Gary Payton made 11 shots for 22 points. This proved to be the difference, IMO. But I would be concerned about Toni Kukoc's injury he sustained at the very end of the game. That could very well prove to be a difference maker. I think this series will go to at least 6 games. And if Millaukee plays like they did today, then they could very well pull the upset many have predicted. The real Timberwolves showed up today and played like a team unaffected by their poor play in Game 1. Garnett played like the MVP candidate he is, and Troy Hudson went off for 30 points. Also, the Lakers missed many shots that could have cut that lead down even more. Normally they make those shots. Also, the supporting Laker cast were almost a non factor. But, I have a suspicion that Hudson will not have as big a game as he did in Game 2. And Garnett will not be able to do it by himself against the Lakers, who have two of the top players in the league. But, I liked how the Timberwolves played tonight. I think that with the Lakers, you have to play with no fear. And I agree, what is up with the playoff schedule? I would perfer if it was one day on, one day off. And then when you have to travel, you get two days off. That way the playoffs become more gruelling. But, if a long layoff helps Webber's back heal, then I ain't complaining too much. Guest Mad Dog Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Geez is it going to take 3 weeks to get through Round 1 if some of these series go to 7?
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I really think the Lakers didn't come to play tonight. The Timberwolves obviously played better tonight. But past playoff history has the Wolves doing this in GM 2, only to lose the next two games. My schedule for the NBA would be... for exmaple, Minnesota/LA-Sunday-Monday-Wednesday-Thursday-Saturday-Sunday-Tuesday.

Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 23, 2003 Well the Lakers and Wolves have both won their games rather easily. I wouldn't call blowouts exiting, unless the team you like is winning. I enjoyed both games and I'm not a big fan of either team. Even thought they were blowouts, the other teams never seemed to be totally out of it. Tonight, the Lakers were threatening to go on a comeback run down to the last couple of minutes. They were playing well but the Lakers kept hanging around so the victory never really seemed locked up until it was nearly over.
Guest notJames Report post Posted April 23, 2003 p.s. look for another Laker win tonight 2-0 D'oh! And it might be the conspiracy theorist in me, but methinks Commissioner Stern paid a visit to the Lakers locker room and extolled on them the virtues of "allowing" this series to go past 4 games… more TV exposure, more advertising, more revenue, more (ahem) fringe benefits… Oh well, whatever helps keep El Lay from reaching the second round is fine by me. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 23, 2003 I love it! The Lakers got their asses handed to them last night and I know its wishful thinking but I hope they lose 3 of the next 5 games. Troy Hudson (a former Clipper, I might add) just bought me lunch for the next week.
