LaParkaYourCar Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 punk, mark my words. there's already a surge of new bands sounding like the clash. Like who? Like Simple Plan and New Found Glory *immediatly gets pelted with rocks* New Found Glory does not sound like The Clash. I've never heard Simple Plan.

I was just making a tie to the new pop/punk and emo bands that people who don't know any better call "punk"
Guest mesepher Posted April 19, 2003 Report Posted April 19, 2003 I was just making a tie to the new pop/punk and emo bands that people who don't know any better call "punk" I remember when my (now former) girlfriend said she was getting into punk rock. This kind of excited me, so I asked her: me: "so you must be kind of bummed that Joe Strummer just died" her: ...... me: "you know... Joe Strummer, lead singer of the Clash" her: "who is the Clash?" and this is the same girl that says she is not a teeny bopper because she doesn't listen to boybands... fucking tool.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted April 20, 2003 Report Posted April 20, 2003 It's impossible not to know who the Clash is. They have songs that amish people know. Maybe not by name, but yeah. By the way, when I was talking earlier about 50 Cent being the next 2Pac, 50 getting murdered was integral to the prediction.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Right Now! the current sound sucks, and sodoes rap. I would mark out for Hair Bands (except Bon Jovi), Disco, or The Eagles type rock. Right Now! I would hope that Jim Morrison would come back from the dead, and rejoin the Doors, also I would want Elvis Presley to join Van Halen as the new frontman Right Now! Every Rose Has It's Thorn!
Guest saturnmark4life Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 Nu skiffle? I dunno. Emo is just gonna get bigger and bigger and fill me full of burnign hate for everyone who listens to it more and more. I see the Necromantix came to my town a while back, I didn't go but upon reading up on them they sound like something I'd enjoy.
Guest notJames Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 17th-wave ska-techno (with lots of fiddle solos)
Guest Choken One Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 What about Counrap? Ja Rule changes his name to Jem Rumano and becomes a Country superstar...
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 23, 2003 Report Posted April 23, 2003 i like New Found Glory Me too, I like a lot of other stuff that sounds like it. But I'm tired of dumbasses going "THAT'S NOT PUNK!"...when in fact I already KNOW that it's not punk.
Guest RepoMan Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Eminem = Beastie Boy What? That's like saying 50 Cent is a rip off of Run DMC.
Guest mw679 Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Alt Country...or has that already died?
Mrnoitaull Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 U See...50 can't rap for shit...He has the Aftermath Empire creating it for him... Why can't Em just be the next 2pac? If there ever was one... amen ! this big build up and publicity explosion has blinded people's perspective on the fact that he'll wear off real soon. there's nothin significant about the way he raps, beside the fact that he wants to portray the "bad guy"
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 Telekenesis Rock Every Rose Has It's Thorn!
LaParkaYourCar Posted April 24, 2003 Report Posted April 24, 2003 i like New Found Glory Me too, I like a lot of other stuff that sounds like it. But I'm tired of dumbasses going "THAT'S NOT PUNK!"...when in fact I already KNOW that it's not punk. I'm starting to open my mind to some pop punk. I just listened to Good Charlotte's debut CD and it was pretty good. They're a fun band and that's always good. Fun is good. Problem is their new CD is okay, but not as good as their first. I hope that isn't the way it will always be.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 As far as Good Charlotte goes I liked "The Click" and a few other songs off their first cd...but now they just bug me too much.
Guest raptor Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 I'm surprised that no one has talked about the recent wave of pop singer/songwriters. John Mayer, Michelle Branch, Norah Jones, etc... All the type of music that teeny-boppers listen to when they want to act like they listen to music with substance. Problem is, all of them still lack anything to set them apart.
Guest NoCalMike Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Well if Clear Channel/Viacom have their way, then any decent music will have to be found somewhere besides FM radio. Telecommunications has been de-regulated and therefore big companies are buying up every station in every city so that a group of about twelve people decide what EVERYONE is going to hear on the radio. Worst of all, they are trying to buy out "free speech" radio stations that at least try to put out different types of music. In approx 5 years there is going to be at least one station in EVERY city that just plays Top 25 all-pop-genre-esque type music over and over. So unless people keep finding music from other outlets besides FM radio..it aint looking good.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Thank GOD for college radio!
B. Brian Brunzell Posted April 25, 2003 Report Posted April 25, 2003 Thank GOD for college radio! That, and cd's.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 I don't care if it's punk or not, it just reminds me of idiots. If you listen to it, ok, but I just...cannot.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted April 26, 2003 Report Posted April 26, 2003 "50 Cent is the next 2Pac, you heard it here first." So he'll be the next rapper to get shot?...
Guest Coffin Surfer Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 i like New Found Glory Me too, I like a lot of other stuff that sounds like it. Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 "50 Cent is the next 2Pac, you heard it here first." So he'll be the next rapper to get shot?... Yeah, that's what I'm saying. He'll get shot, die, and become deified, however you spell it.
Guest ShooterJay Posted April 28, 2003 Report Posted April 28, 2003 I can't hate Good Charlotte because they did the KICKASS theme to "Undergrads."
