Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted April 29, 2003 UK - "Come On Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners --- Never heard What douche bottle have you been living in? "Come on Eileen" was one of the biggest one hit wonders of the eighties. The song has an Irish lilt to it and the band wore overalls in the video. I'm sure you've heard it at some point and just don't realize it. Here's a bit of worthless info: At the beginning of the video for "Come On Eileen," the entire band is seen playing on the street corner. When you see the band at the end of the vid, the drummer is missing. He's not there because the lead singer fired him. The singer's name escapes me at the moment. I know his first name is Kevin... someone else besides me used to watch Pop-Up Video

Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted May 2, 2003 "Red Red Wine" by UB40 Didn't know that song was nearly 20 years old. Yea, the thing was when I heard that song on the radio growing up I thought it was really a wine commercial (you know, for like some Napa vineyards or something). It wasn't until I was in my teens that I found out it was a song instead of a jingle.
Guest goodhelmet Report post Posted May 2, 2003 Kevin Rowland. They had other hits in the UK with "Geno" and "Jackie Wilson Said". I'm sure I've heard them, but I can't remember how they go. I remember "Come on Eileen" though. Toora, loora, toora loorye aye. Jackie Wilson Said is actually a Van Morrison cover. as for my B-Day, i get none other than Andy Kim's "Rock Me Gently". Kim was a Neil DIamondesque ripoff who is best known for creating the music to 60's commercials and the Archies "Sugar Sugar". At least it isn't "Fly Robin Fly"
