LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2003 I'd just like to state once again that I think Audioslave is one of the most disappointing over-hyped bands in the history of music. Given the collective skill involved in the band, they should've been able to come up with something MUCH better than the middle of the road rock album they put out. I love the album personally. There isn't a song on there I don't like. They're all full of energy. They have a good sound. The song "The Last Remaining Light" on the end of the CD is just friggin awesome! As well as "I am the Highway" and "Like a Stone" of course the rest of the album is great too.
rising up out of the back seat-nuh 0 Report post Posted May 2, 2003 For what its worth: Ikara Colt: Chat and Business - Nice fuzzy energetic punk Outkast: Aquemini - Best Rap/Funk album I've ever heard Love: Forever Changes - Superb hippie album. Beatles: Revolver Radiohead : OK Computer - Regarded as two of the best albums of al time. Quite rightly. At The Drive-In: In/Casino/Out - Great emo album The Velvet Underground & Nico - The sleaziest album of all time and Lou Reed at his best. Jeff Buckly: Grace - Gretest singer of the 90's Marvin Gaye: Whats Goin On - Pinacle of Motown Sigur Ros: Agaetis Bryjun - Greatest ambient album sung in a made up language by a one eyed icelandic homosexual EVER!!! All the above are simply superb.
Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted May 3, 2003 From what little I have heard (Roadworms and demons dance alone) I have heard nothing to dissuade me that everyone should check out The Residents. Fucking beautiful. Same for The Smiths.
Guest iamsherm Report post Posted May 3, 2003 Anything by Stevie Wonder from the early/mid 70s. Talking Book would be the place to start, I'd say. Everyone's heard "Superstition," I'd imagine, but the whole album is fucking unbelievable. I agree. I started my Stevie Wonder collection with Talking Book and I don't regret it ... not one bit. SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2003 I would have to say the new Godsmack CD "Faceless" or even "Get Rich And Die Tryin" or "The New Breed" by 50 Cent. And yes, I AM a fan of 50 cent.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted May 5, 2003 I would have to say the new Godsmack CD "Faceless" I'd like to un-recommend this cd. If you've heard one of their songs, you've heard all of them...now go away.
Guest notJames Report post Posted May 5, 2003 Midnight Oil - Diesel And Dust Ausrock!! Good!! Diesel and Dust is good, but you're better off just going for the best of.... album I prefer Blue Sky Mining myself. And while we're on the topic of Ausrock, I'm gonna set the Wayback Machine to 1982 and a little ol' album by INXS called Shabooh Shoobah. Great stuff. On our way back, let's hit 1988 and a neat little record titled Bonk by the lesser-known Aussie band Big Pig. Why can't they make music like this anymore? Given the collective skill involved in the band, they should've been able to come up with something MUCH better than the middle of the road rock album they put out. The first half blew me away, the second half I didn't like as much. Even though they are definately over hyped, the signs of true greatness are evident. Guest pinnacleofallthingsmanly Report post Posted May 11, 2003 Well I am going to recommend one that's been around and name Metallica's Black album. I bought it a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. The irony of it is, I bought the CD because it had songs that I downloaded and liked. I don't know if this counts, but I'm listening to the D-12 Tim Westwood freestyles and it's fucking hilarious. Bizarre steals the show on this. Whether it's him singing, freestyling or passing the mic at the wrong time, everything that he does is hilarious. I also recommend the Green Lantern Mixtape that just came out. It's going to be a hit this summer.
