Guest Nanks Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Nice work as usual Dames, as one of the legion of frightfully neglected Aussie fans I rely on you for my TNA fix. As for my opinion on the show.... Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! GODDAMNIT. Why the F*@& would they put Jarrett over?? It really, REALLY, killed Raven. They built him up BEAUTIFULLY to take the belt here and blew it. God, I hope this isn't a case of nepotism, that would just be awful and would really hurt the strength of the whole promotion. They've f**ked this RIGHT up. There you have it. Guest BoboBrazil Report post Posted May 1, 2003 They are going to have to turn Jarrett heel soon. He is getting about 60-70% boos from the crowd now and most of the crowd had up pro-Raven signs.

Guest dvkorn Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Good work, Dames! Now, 1st off i wanna say, that before the match i didn't really what the outcome was gonna be. I didn't mind if either Raven or Jarrett won. I was expecting Raven to win and kinda wanted to him to win but really didn't mind the outcome. I think there is no doubt that this feud will continue and when the next match occurs, hopefully we get to see it, and i think Raven will get the belt in the blowoff. Everyone complains because they want Jarrett to lose the belt now. It is like last year in the WWF. Everyone wanted Brock to defeat taker clean at unforgiven but it didn't happen and they continued the feud (i was one of them people) and i think it turned out for the best (except the way the match was done at unforgiven sucked) with brock defeating the Undertaker. I think a similar thing will happen here, in a month or 2 months time they will have a rematch and Raven will go over for the belt.
King Cucaracha 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Good stuff as ever... Where the hell did the Tag Division suddenly spring from though. A few weeks back the Tag Division was flagging, and this week we get a fourway tag, a great tag match with D-Lo/Styles as a team, and that's not including XXX and Red/Lynn. The Tag Division could be a major strength if they use it right. Anyway, great show even with the ending, and good review...
Guest The Notorious CRD Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Nice work, Dames. I particularly liked your thoughts on the Raven/Jarrett match.
Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted May 1, 2003 Dames, you hit the nail right on the head with everything. Excellent work, as always. I'd love to see a 20 minute Lynn/Daniels match. I agree that the blown spot probably cost Sabin some crowd reaction later in the match. Still, the kid is a good talent and should do well in TNA with a push. I agree they need to turn Jarrett heel. Between going over Styles, and now Raven, he's really turned a lot of the fanbase against him. His character needs to evolve from the fighting champion phase. Maybe have him gain an ego since he overcame the odds or something.
Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2003 I think the crowd's reaction to Sabin was because of both the blown spot and the fact that maybe, just maybe, they wanna see Shark Boy win a damn match. But hey, that's just me...
Guest RedJed Report post Posted May 1, 2003 I was as baffled by the finish in that X title match as you, man. About the same rating as you for that match also.......it just didnt meet my expectations at all, hardly any of the trademark stuff I had seen in their matches before. It's obvious who it is under the mask too and I cant say I'm excited about that either. Now to the main event..........again, I have to ask this. If you think Jarrett is not getting over and is stale AND needs the belt off him, why then bother to continue the program with Raven then and have him chase for the belt again? I dont understand that logic. I think its clear that Jarrett should just job the title to Raven and move on following a rematch. Like I said this program is too hot to blow it on one match, so thats why they did what they did (as someone said, akin to Taker-Brock). If Raven would have been given the title right then and there, either you have Jarrett win it back in a rematch (which defeats the purpose of giving it to Raven in the first place, IMO) or else Raven wins again in a rematch which Jarrett really cant afford since he's no Rock or Austin. I agree that a rematch between them needs to be built right, but I do think it could be done in a months time. Give Raven a major rub next week in that gaunlet match, and then maybe use 2-3 weeks to get things going and somewhere in there do a double turn. That would put a whole new dynamic into the feud and subsequent rematch.
Guest Devin Report post Posted May 1, 2003 They realize the fans are behind Raven, and not Jarrett. That's why Raven is aligning himself with Team Extreme (a face group), and Jarrett's aligning himsef with Erik Watts (a heel). I think a double turn is definitely what they're leaning towards. They know that people are behind Raven, so they're going to build on that. A loss now just means everyone is going to be behind Raven even more the next time. The Dames 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2003 I disagree with one thing there RedJed. While Jarrett is no Rock or Austin, he is the one consistent top guy in the promotion that you KNOW will always be around. The way I see it, Raven should have won the title, Jarrett gets a rematch and in that match, someone costs Jarrett the title win, allowing him to move onto another feud without looking weak.
