Guest Kahran Ramsus Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 This can be good or bad. Good in that it does away with the 500 German suplexes every time Benoit or Angle gets in the ring, and allows them to do a more pyschological based wrestling match. Bad in that Vince probably sees this as more brawling, not more wrestling even though wailing away on a guy is far more likely to injure him than a sleeper or figure four. More people have been injured off of closelines in the past year than by any other move. They need to begin taking it to the mat, like they did in 1994.
Guest SupaTaft Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 This is the greatest thing ever! I am soooo freakin' excited now, I may have to watch WWE now to see the entire fed wrestle Hossoresu. I can't wait to see the slowest men in the industry moving EVEN SLOWER~!! Hossoresu 4 Life~!! -Taft
Maztinho Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Yay!!! Slower matches. Wait, the sentiment is already like that in this thread. Mmmm smell that love of this decision. Anyways, my insights have been spewed forth by other guys. Take it to the mat more, and it's cool. More brawling?
Guest Anglesault Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I hate when people get the story wrong WWE is working on "slowing down" their in-ring style to make HHH look better. Agents have been working closely with talent on changing their styles to a slower one than HHH. Vince McMahon even spoke to much of the roster at Backlash regarding the changes in style. WWE is hoping to deliver a style that doesn't show up HHH or threaten the future son-in-law or his slow friend's"spots." Instead, they want to carefully book the matches to tell a story, that being that HHH is God-(uh).
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I agree that something needs to be done to lessen the injuries, but Im not so sure if slowing things down will be the answer. If it means more mat wrestling and rest holds and things like that then Im all for it I suppose..If its slow as the result of 1 or more big, fat or old wrestlers in the ring then that just sucks.
Guest Eagan469 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 next step: reinstalling the ultra-flimsy pre-1998 ring ropes
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 So, with this resurgence of '60s and '70s era low-impact offense, will we be hearing the word "su-play" again? god bless Gordon Solie. Whats next the wrestlers stop wearing Boots?
Guest j.o.b. squad Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 oh dear i am turning off my tv once someone taps to a full nelson or hammer lock
Guest razazteca Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 will we be hearing the word "su-play" again? it is the proper way to pronounce the word I can't wait to see somebody use the Claw as a finisher.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 will we be hearing the word "su-play" again? it is the proper way to pronounce the word I can't wait to see somebody use the Claw as a finisher. don't Dis Da CLAW man! I saw someone bust out the crimison mask when they got the Claw locked on.. was probably Flair...he blades at a drop of a Hat.
Guest Zero_Cool Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 What's next? Someone gets potatoed with a right hand and then we have twenty minute matches with nothing but headlocks, hammerlocks, with the crazy finish of a bodyslam?
Guest razazteca Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 What's next? Someone gets potatoed with a right hand and then we have twenty minute matches with nothing but headlocks, hammerlocks, with the crazy finish of a bodyslam? It will be the return of the Main Event Sleeper or Bear Hug. Its the best finish for a 20 minute match of punch, kick, headlock, hammerlock, veritical su-play.
Guest wwF1587 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 well this means nash will indeed be champion forever and big show may be champ for awhile.. both are excellent at this style of wrestling...::Sigh::
Guest Vitamin X Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 So how exactly is it that NWATNA doesn't have all these wrestling-style regulations, but yet somehow don't have all the injuries WWE has?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 TNA guys can make there own schedule. WWE guys have to work many times a week. If a TNA guy gets sick or hurt a little they can just take off their indy dates...and heal.
Guest Vitamin X Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Ah. A good point. But what about WCW and their cruiserweight division? Maybe my memory isn't serving me particularly well here, but I don't remember them having a ton of injuries, either...
Guest ViciousFish Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 WWE has injuries because like its been stated 100 times before Vince wants big muscualr wrestlers which takes away from flexibilty and weaken the overall muscle mass. Or something along those lines
Guest bigdunn20 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 God forbid a company actually want their workers to actually WORK instead of killing each other.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 If the WWE wanted their wrestlers to work they wouldn't push who they do. Your argument has the stink of bias and a slight touch of stupidity.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 So...............how long until Hogan's Big Boot/Leg drop combination are banned?
Guest razazteca Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Ah. A good point. But what about WCW and their cruiserweight division? Maybe my memory isn't serving me particularly well here, but I don't remember them having a ton of injuries, either... Rey Jr had alot of injuries mostly related to trying moves like triple jump moonsaults and such. Also Billy Kidman broke Vampiro's eye socket doing the SSP.
LooseCannon25 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Why don't they just get a softer ring. Like the one ECW used or ROH uses.....it gives a lot more leeway to the neck head and other body parts. I think getting a softer ring (mat) would solve, not all, but some of the problems
Guest ViciousFish Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 And getting cable ropes not rope ropes.....wow that sounds dumb
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I think there a couple people who might not understand where I'm coming from... They're not going to slow down from anything resembling normal speed as it is now. They want to slow down from the painfully slow matches like HHH vs. anyone and Steiner vs. anyone because these are the matches with the highest risk of injury.
Guest Trivia247 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 because Steiner is llike china easily breakable and HHH is clumbsy to a point he goesout for 9 months with a injury worthy of a U2 Desire video
Guest JRE Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Nothing better than a small lecture from Vince McMahon spewing dozens of lame one-liners.
LooseCannon25 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I'll be watching TNA......at least those guys over there are allowed to wrestle their own styles without so many restrictions.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 TNA is heading for a major injury sooner than later. They have Dlo diving over the top rope and the younger X guys dropping each other all over the place. There luck will run out and we'll see them cut down also.
LooseCannon25 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 thank god for indy and japanese alternatives
