Guest franchise632 Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 New soda that I just tried tonight. I am a big Orange Soda fan. This one is pretty good. Its not as good as Sunkist but not as bad as Slice. It says its only available until the end of the summer. Anyone else tried it?
Guest RepoMan Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Cool, they named the drink after my favriot recap show.
Guest Star Ocean 3 Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 (edited) I didn't have much, but it seemed like generic orange soda. Though now that I've had more, its actually pretty good. Still better than Code Red, which I can hardly stand. Edited May 7, 2003 by Star Ocean 3
Guest wwF1587 Posted May 10, 2003 Report Posted May 10, 2003 it does taste alot like just plain orange soda with a hint of MD.. very good stuff... MD has yet to let me down.... i hope its not avaible only this summer like it advertises, if it sells like code red then it will be out long after summer ...
Guest The Superstar Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Yeah, it tastes more like 3/4 orange soda and 1/4 mountain dew, but I like it.
Guest Choken One Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 I was kinda disapointed...Too much Orange Soda for my tastes...I would've liked a bigger splash of Dew... Still good...Just not at Code Red level... What's next? Grape Dew?
Gert T Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 it does taste alot like just plain orange soda with a hint of MD.. very good stuff... MD has yet to let me down.... i hope its not avaible only this summer like it advertises, if it sells like code red then it will be out long after summer ... That's basically a disclaimer after Pepsi Blue cost them millions earlier. If MD: Livewire sells well it'll be around after the summer. As for the drink, I'll say it was average.
Guest El Luchadore Magnifico Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 They were handing out samples of these after the Columbus Crew game on Saturday... It's not bad. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to drink it, but otherwise, not bad.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I have it on good authority that no matter how well it sells, it will not become a regular in their product line, although it will probably pop up again at some point like other "limited time offers" do at fast food places and the like. I've still not tried it, but Im not a real big fan of orange flavored sodas so it probably won't appeal that much to me.
Ultimo Dugas Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Its ok, but like everyone else said its just like some sort of mixture of Dew and orange soda, with the orange soda being the dominant taste.
Guest Reservoir_Kitty Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 When I tasted it, I thought it tasted like something else. It took a while, but I pinpointed the "not Dew" taste that I was getting. It reminds me of carbonated orange Kool-Aid with a healthy dose of sugar and caffeine. That being said, it's not bad. It tastes like ass when it's warm though. *gag*
Guest CED Ordonez Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I got myself a bottle last night. It's pretty good for an Orange Mountain Dew, but I think the proportions or Orange Soda to Mountain Dew could bear to be tinkered with a little.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I thought it tasted like really sweet orange gatorade, only carbonated. Nothing special at all.

Guest Choken One Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I thought it tasted like really sweet orange gatorade, only carbonated. Nothing special at all. That's what I got from it...
Guest MrRant Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Tastes like a oranger version of Code Red which itself had orange juice as a main ingredient.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 After this latest entry, I can say that the Mountain Dew line hasn't let me down yet. Should they keep this around after the summer, I can see it being a regular in my fridge. At the very least, it blows away Pepsi Blue.
Guest Sturgis Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 It taste like orange Life Savers, I don't think it will last.
Rendclaw Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I didn;t know *what* to think of code red... but like dew, I would only drink it for the caffiene.... Livewire is a better effort, though...
B. Brian Brunzell Posted May 21, 2003 Report Posted May 21, 2003 I rather enjoy it. It's still not Sunkist, but it's a damn good orange pop.
Guest converge241 Posted May 24, 2003 Report Posted May 24, 2003 I like the dry orange flavor as compared to most other orange sodas is it just me or does this baby have more caffeine though? Mountain Dew needs to dump codered and put out a grape one in its place!
Guest wwF1587 Posted May 25, 2003 Report Posted May 25, 2003 im not a fan of grape pop.... i dont think grape MD would work... they could try it i guess... i think this will stay..
Guest Insanityman Posted May 25, 2003 Report Posted May 25, 2003 I finally tried it today, it was good stuff... but I maybe got a taste of true MD at the last sip- hell, that could of been backwash.
Guest The Superstar Posted May 26, 2003 Report Posted May 26, 2003 Why haven't they made Berry Citrus a real Mountain Dew flavor? It's been a Slurpee choice forever.
Guest alfdogg Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 The vibe I get from it is Orange Hi-C (aka orange drink from McDonald's) with MD. And Grape MD would work...I'd buy enough of it to make sure of that.
Guest Choken One Posted May 27, 2003 Report Posted May 27, 2003 Grape MD is clearly the next evolution in the Mountain Dew line... What remains to be seen is what can come after Cherry, Orange and Grape and still manage to work...
Guest razazteca Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 I just got one today and love it, yummy tangy citrus flavor.
Guest Sandman9000 Posted June 5, 2003 Report Posted June 5, 2003 What remains to be seen is what can come after Cherry, Orange and Grape and still manage to work... Chololate.
Guest wwF1587 Posted June 7, 2003 Report Posted June 7, 2003 What remains to be seen is what can come after Cherry, Orange and Grape and still manage to work... Chololate. on pepsi it MAY work... not MD...
