Worst WCW PPV?

Recommended Posts

Guest Memphis

'has ever done'.

Thank you, and yes I *DO* like my perfectionist attitude.

My vote goes squarely towards Fall Brawl 1998

They shit all over the war games with the Warrior/Hogan 'feud' that only Tony & Mike Tenay seemed to care about, and I think even they were acting.

Besides the passable Raven/Saturn match, there is not ONE decent outing on the card. I mean, nothing even comes close to 'watchable'.

Fucking awful. This show also reminds me of how bad they treated the Hitman, which only makes me hate it even more.

Fall Brawl '98 was the first PPV I ever purchased. I had just started watching wrestling after a two year hiatus (I mean, when I stopped watching, Scott Hall had just shown up in WCW).

I recall watching the Raven/Saturn match, and thinking it was the best match ever. Even today, it stands out in my mind.

But now I realize, that reason I hold it in such high regard, is because the rest of the card aboslutely sucked ass.

EDIT: I realize that I mispelled absolutely, but I like this new spelling.

Especially the aboslutely part.

I shall fix that.

On the subject of Fall Brawl 1998, wasn't that the PPV in which the British Bulldog was seriously injured on that trap door thing in the middle of one of the two rings?

Yes. The match in question was Davey Boy and Neidhart vs. The Boogie Knights (Alex Wright/Glen "Disco" Gilberti).

I don't really have a candidate due to the limited amount of WCW PPV's I have seen, but Road Wild 1998 and Uncensored 1996 have to be up there.

I hit super-mark mode for the main event battle royal at Uncensored 1996. I have not seen the match in years now, but i recall it being fuckin' unreal at the time on pure atmosphere and crowd reaction. Even though we ALL knew nWo had to win due to the ridiculous stipulations, I still had a blast watching it with all my friends.

That would be the 1997 version, actually. In hindsight, that was a decent PPV, with a great ending to it.

The 1996 installment featured Hogan and Savage defeating EIGHT guys in a triple-cage. By my memory...

--Arn Anderson

--Ric Flair

--Barbarbian

--Meng

--The Ultimate Solution

--Z-Gangster

--Kevin Sullivan

--Lex Luger

I agree with you on the 1997 show, though.

Fall Brawl was the last WCW PPV that my friends and I ordered It wsa just so bad that we vowed not to order a WCW PPV again. Well, we did end up ordering New Blood Rising for some reason, leaving us a bunch of goddamned dirty liars.

Well, we were all hoping Russo would turn shit around. And hey, New Blood Rising DID look promising.

I've seen very little WCW PPVs, but from what I hear, Great American Bash 1991 is the worst. I'm sure someone on the board who's actually seen the show can elaborate a little more.

I've heard that as well.

And like many of you here, I've seen a limited number of WCW PPVs.

Here's a few candidates for worst WCW PPV, or at least the ones I've seen.

Great American Bash 1999

Bash at the Beach 1999

Halloween Havoc 1994

Bash at the Beach 1998 (Who's bright idea was it to have Dennis Rodman and Karl Malone in the main event?)

Road Wild 1999

Ray Trailor vs John Tenta in a Carson City Silver Dollar in a sock on a pole match?

GAB 91 did that have Robocop saving Sting?

Agreed B-X. I ordered it after hearing rave reviews on Jarrett-Booker from the show from the previous month, Bash At The Beach.

Booker/Jarrett was alright, however everything else, with maybe the exception of the horribly over booker opener, was pretty bad.

Out of what I've seen: Bash At The Beach 99

Just look at the "Bleh" card. Only one match was decent and that was because it involved Benoit.

1. Ernest Miller vs. Disco Inferno

2. Rick Steiner vs. Van Hammer

3. David Flair vs. Dean Malenko

4. Konnan, Rey Misterio Jr., Swoll, & Brad Armstrong vs. Curt Hennig, Bobby Duncum Jr., Barry & Kendall Windham (elimination match)

5. Junkyard Battle Royal (one of worst idea's ever)

6. Diamond Dallas Page, Bam Bam Bigelow, & Kanyon vs. Saturn & Chris Benoit

7. Buff Bagwell vs. Roddy Piper (boxing match; referee Mills Lane)

8. Randy Savage & Sid Vicious vs. Kevin Nash & Sting
