Guest Guybrush Threepwood Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 (IMG:http://www.silvervision.co.uk/isroot/silvervision/ImagesOnline/products/WWE1073.jpg) For the first time ever, Shawn Michaels talks about the matches that helped define his illustrious career and set the standard for others to follow. Seven of the matches that made him the “Showstopper” are presented in their entirety in this one-of-a- kind compilation: - AWA Tag Team Championship - Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match vs. Razor Ramon at WrestleMania X - Iron Man Match vs. Bret Hart at WrestleMania XII - No-Holds-Barred Match vs. Big Daddy Cool Diesel - WWE Championship Match vs. Mankind - Hell in a Cell vs. Undertaker - Shawn‘s comeback Non-Sanctioned Match vs. Triple H at SummerSlam 2002 DVD Extras: Three hours of bonus footage, including promos, interviews, a photo gallery and alternate commentary by Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash on their now-classic No-Holds-Barred Match. Sounds damn good, hopefully theres some more matches on the 3 hours of extras.
Guest OnlyMe Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Shame that the matches are all ones I've seen a million times (apart from the AWA one.) Is the Mankind match the same one on Foley's DVD (I believe it is from Mind Games) or did they have another title match?
Guest Si82 Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 From the box design/title ("From The Vault" incase you didn't know) do you think they are going to make a series of these DVD sets? I hope so, then we get stuff like a Bret Hart or Ric Flair DVD. As for this DVD set itself. The most interesting thing to me is the "alternate commentary by Shawn Michaels and Kevin Nash on their now-classic No-Holds-Barred Match". Seeing that the match itself is great the commentary could either by good or a Clique love fest. What do you guys think?
Guest bravesfan Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Well, if the VHS version will consist of these 7 matches (in their entirety), the DVD version will most definitely have a few matches that are DVD-only (especially if they have THREE HOURS to fill)....
Guest Aero Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I've never seen that HBK-Diesel match, so I'm looking forward to it. Having all those other matches would be nice to have on DVD, so sounds like a good buy to me.
Guest bravesfan Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 A LARGE percentage of fans haven't seen that match, due to the rarity of the tape itself. I can tell you from experience; it is a GREAT brawl, especially considering the day and age in which that match was constructed.
The Dames Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 WHOA.... The Iron-Man Match in it's entirety? I need confirmation on that. Ladder Match - Yay! HIAC - YAY! Now I don't have to buy the UT DVD for it! Dames
Guest bravesfan Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 WHOA.... The Iron-Man Match in it's entirety? I need confirmation on that. Ladder Match - Yay! HIAC - YAY! Now I don't have to buy the UT DVD for it! Every match is in its entirety, both on the VHS and DVD versions. This idea is similar to the That Damn Good program the WWE put out last year at select chains in the United States.
Guest Goodear Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Sweet. Hey, has there been any full match listings for the Rey Mysterio Jr. DVD yet? It's out next Tuesday and I still haven't seen anything.
Guest bravesfan Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 (edited) Sweet. Hey, has there been any full match listings for the Rey Mysterio Jr. DVD yet? It's out next Tuesday and I still haven't seen anything. Silvervision only received those four matches to promote. The DVD is probably out right now in some stores (official release: May 27th), so give it a look. In other news, Wrestlemania XIX's official home video and DVD release has been pushed back a week, to June 3rd. EDIT: The DVD cover, for you lazy bums. EDIT II: Mang, TWO DISCS. Give me the "Barbershop Break-Up" segment in full and I'll be a happy camper with the DVD. Edited May 23, 2003 by bravesfan
Guest The Tino Standard Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Is the Diesel-HBK championship match the one where Diesel rips off Mad Dog Vachon's prosthetic leg and beats Michaels over the head with it? THAT was pure GOLD.
Guest The Bad Guy Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Is the Diesel-HBK championship match the one where Diesel rips off Mad Dog Vachon's prosthetic leg and beats Michaels over the head with it? THAT was pure GOLD. That's the one! That match was so kick ass it's hard to believe that Kevin Nash was involved. Anyway... this DVD set looks like it could be great, I'll probably be picking it up.
Guest bob_barron Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Eh- There's a lot more matches they could've put on there instead of PPV stuff. What about 11.20.95 v. Owen? Or the Kliq tag match?
Guest Dmann2000 Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Eh- There's a lot more matches they could've put on there instead of PPV stuff. What about 11.20.95 v. Owen? Or the Kliq tag match? That's true, or the miracle tag match (Hart/Bulldog vs Michaels/Austin)
Guest Goodear Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Well they still have three more hours to fill there Bob. And for someone like myself who has not seen all of these things, this will be a nice pick up.
Guest bob_barron Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I have all these matches and have no interest in upgrading any to DVD Quality so I'll pass unless they add something that makes me actually want to plunk down money for an HBK DVD
The Dames Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I'd rather get the DVD's than keep them on tapes that eventually wear down anyway. I'd make the purchase. Dames
Guest humongous2002 Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 i've already seen these matches many times but to those who haven't seen HBK when he was worth watching this is a chance in a lifetime.
Guest bob_barron Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Aren't promos and interviews one and the same? What is the difference?
B. Brian Brunzell Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Sounds like one hell of a DVD. I'll be picking it up, no doubt.
The Dames Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Interviews is a wrestler one on one with someone else. A promo encompasses that and any other mic work that they do. Dames
Guest Mattdotcom Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I want this DVD since I only own three of those matches and have always wanted to see the Diesel match, but I'm a little weary about buying a DVD where Shawn Michael's crotch is the focal point of the cover...
Guest Choken One Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Sounds amazing...and I can't believe the are putting the Iron Man in it's entierty along with the Nash match...and the awa match...two rare ones...
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 A 2 DVD Set? Damn...of course this means we shall soon see a 3 Disc From the Vault HHH set just because. They should have the Ladder Match with Razor thats on the tape I have (Smack'em Whack'em). Its not as good as their WMX ladder match (mainly cause it took place in Erie PA at a house show), but it would be a nice bonus match.
Guest Damn You Helmsley Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I'll be picking this up, for sure.
Guest Choken One Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Wonder if we will get Montreal here? I'm sure they CAN'T avoid burying Bret another time...
Guest JHawk Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 They should have the Ladder Match with Razor thats on the tape I have (Smack'em Whack'em). Its not as good as their WMX ladder match (mainly cause it took place in Erie PA at a house show), but it would be a nice bonus match. Wasn't that with Bret Hart? And wasn't it in Maine?
Guest pochorenella Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 I can't wait for this release. Finally another wrestler (other than Hogan) gets a 2 disc DVD treatment, and by the sounds of it it'll be loaded with great stuff. I agree with TheDames: I won't need to buy UT's DVD for HITC (even though I have the original Badd Blood VHS release). But my favorite match in DVD quality? Fuck, yeah!! Hopefully the extras will include matches with Marty Janetty (the RAW ones), Owen Hart (IYH maybe?), with Austin vs Owen/Bulldog, and with Diesel vs Razor/Kid. Those would be my top choices. And of course, the Barber Shop segment. I hope WWE continues this series soon with Flair and Bret.
Guest bob_barron Posted May 23, 2003 Report Posted May 23, 2003 Wonder if we will get Montreal here? I'm sure they CAN'T avoid burying Bret another time... That's on the Confidential DVD
