Guest BANKYWOOD Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Who the fuck are the Basham brothers? When did they debut? What the fuck? Honestly, I'm confused. I didn't watch the show, I just read SK's rant on it. But I haven't a clue who they are, and what they are about. I'm getting old.
Guest bob_barron Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 They just debuted tonight Banky. Tonight was their first ever match. Doug Basham is an OVW veteran. Danny Basham is Damaja from OVW

Guest BANKYWOOD Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Oh. How come there hasn't been any news about their arrival?
Guest Dangerous A Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Oh. How come there hasn't been any news about their arrival? Because WWE has forgotten how to build people up properly and because they aren't hosses. Nathan Jones is a hoss. He gets a buildup. Goldberg is a potential money player and he's a hoss. He got a buildup. OVW guys are just thrown out there with the hope they can get over.

Guest EternallyLazy Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 They didn't announce Lesnar's debut...
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Yup Lesnar just showed up one day on RAW and beat up 6 or 8 people in one match.
Mecha Mummy Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 More like three. Maven, Spike Dudley, and... um... someone else. Then he took out Hurricane and Molly on Smackdown, followed by DDP and then Rikishi before getting drafted to Raw. He then promptly destroyed both Hardyz before finally wrestling Jeff and destroying him.
Guest AndrewTS Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 OVW guys may not get much build up, but usually get pushed to the moon. If you're from OVW, before you know it you might end up with: tag titles, wins over Chris Jericho, verbal blowjobs from JR and Michael Cole, wins over high-midcarders who are more over or talented than you'll probably ever be, and much much more! Talent and/or mic skills not required.
B. Brian Brunzell Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 You get the same thing by winning some tv show contest as well.
Guest Goodear Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Quick OVW overview... Brock Lesnar - Pushed before over and before he cleaned his style up for WWE audiences. Got over later based on his ring pressence and skills. Team Angle - Same deal as Lesnar. Sean O'Haire - Sucks in all things. Batista - Ditto. Orton - Meh, hard to tell since he's constantly injured. Cena - Still not a good worker, but has microphone skills. Rico - I don't like him but other people seem to. 3MW were from the other farm federation I believe and I don't know if La Resistance came from anywhere in particular. So they're batting around .400 or so...
Mecha Mummy Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Rene Dupree is from OVW, I know this. Sylvian Grenier might be too. Oh, and O'Haire can talk. Besides that, somehow he's managed to get much worse than he used to be. Maybe it's because he hasn't had a long match against anyone good. And Batista... well, he can do a spear, spinebuster, and powerbomb well and is fine in a bodyguard-ish role. Besides that, he's no good.
Guest wrestlingbs Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Rene Dupree is from OVW, I know this. Sylvian Grenier might be too. I thought those two were hired out of the blue because they were French and Vince wanted to play off the war? Maybe that was Grenier?
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 I thought O'Haire was prevoiusly good? I saw him at WCW and was impressed. I think the HHH World of Wrestling doesn't work for him.

I thought those two were hired out of the blue because they were French and Vince wanted to play off the war? Maybe that was Grenier? BOTH of them were in OVW, and they worked in Canada before that. I don't remember who landed in OVW first though. But nonetheless, they were both brought up from Ohio Valley prematurely, because of the war. And O'Haire was a bit better in WCW, but it seems was hossitized during his time in OVW. His agility was about the only above average thing about him though, and now that they've taken that away....
Guest the 1inch punch Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Rene Dupree is from OVW, I know this. Sylvian Grenier might be too. Grenier was stuck up in Canada because they couldnt get him a visa, hence his "debut" at NWO 2003 in Montreal
Guest Slapnuts00 Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Both Dupre and Grenier are from OVW. Grenier is considered Pat Patterson's pet project and was supposedly still so green that he hadn't even made it onto OVW TV yet before his callup.
