Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted May 30, 2003 I'm a big fan of the Pixar movies like Toy Story and Monsters Inc. Did anyone get the chance to see Finding Nemo. I'm most likely going to check it out tomorrow, curious to see what anyone else thought.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted May 30, 2003 I want to, but I feel I'll be dragged to The Italian Job(which doesn't lookthat bad*) by my group of friends. *I say this because it has Edward Norton, but knowing that he was forced to make this movie worries me a little. Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted May 31, 2003 Saw it this morning. I wouldn't say it was as good as either of the Toy Story movies or Monsters Inc, but it had a lot of heart and I absolutely loved the last 45 minutes. Also big props for a pretty identical representation of Sydney Harbour. Favorite scene: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): When the story of Marlin's deeds pass through the whole ocean, with all different species telling each other... making him a legend. Good stuff. Favorite character: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Easily the french shrimp that cleans people. I laughed every time it was on screen, which wasn't often, but still. "Oui! Oui! I am ashamed." I'd recommend it if you like this sort of movie. Pixar keeps on rocking. Also they showed a trailer for their next movie. I forget the name of it exactly, but it's about a washed up fat superhero. Doesn't come out until 11-5-04, so it's a long wait.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 31, 2003 I was going to go see it but went for The Italian Job instead. That was a pretty good movie. To me it felt more of a car commercial for the Mini's. And it worked. I hate those things but that movie made me like them. FIGHT....THE...URGE...........HAVE...TO...GO...BUY...ONE...NOOOOOOOO

Guest Razor Roman Report post Posted June 1, 2003 Also they showed a trailer for their next movie. I forget the name of it exactly, but it's about a washed up fat superhero. Doesn't come out until 11-5-04, so it's a long wait. It's called "The Incredibles" and it's about a whole family of super heroes. It's going to be the first Pixar feature directed by Brad Bird, who made the awesome "Iron Giant" and was a driving force behind the earlier episodes of the Simpsons (Pre-Conan, I believe). He's probably neck-and-neck with John Lasseter as the best US Animation director (and probably better at exploring more grown-up themes than Lasseter) and he's finally working with a studio that will support him, so I expect great things from that movie. Heck, if "Finding Nemo" which a lot of people thought wouldn' be so hot ended up being the best reviewed movie of 2003 so far, which it seems like it has become, Pixar has some serious talent. I don't even think Walt Disney himeself had five movies in a row that were unquestionable critical and box office hits.

Guest wrestlingbs Report post Posted June 1, 2003 I just saw it. Like every other Pixar movie, Finding Nemo is a kids movie that somehow makes adults like it as well. Great humor, great voice work (especially Ellen, she was basicly the star of the show), and beautiful animation, which is what you would come to expect from Pixar. Not as good as Monsters, INC., but I thought it was better than A Bug's Life or even the first Toy Story. Speaking of which, that's a thing most other animators have trouble doing these days: appealing to all ages. Disney's regular films like Treasure Planet are just kiddie movies.
