Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 The following tidbits come re-written from the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter. Subscription details and prices can be obtained at pwtorch.com. Ultimo Dragon is due a major television push as soon as he makes his television debut with WWE on SmackDown. To clear up some confusion, Dragon did have some neck problems that forced his retirement, but has recovered enough that he has returned to action recently in Japan. Many feel backstage in WWE that he can help mesh together the SmackDown Cruiserweight division, along with Rey Mysterio. The Cruiserweight division is due a major PPV push in general with the upcoming split-brand PPVs. -I give it six weeks before he's jobbing to A-Train on Velocity

Until then, I won't believe a word of it. Oh, and this should mean Rey is winning the Cruiserweight title, so he can feud with Ultimo then. But it can't be six weeks till Ultimo jobs to A-Train on Velocity. First he has to actually be around for at least the first PPV, so I give it about 9 weeks.
Guest Damn You Helmsley Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Impending comedy angle with Funaki...
Guest Lightning Flik Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Impending comedy angle with Funaki... And Tajiri. Don't forget Tajiri
EL DANDY~! Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I fuckin say let Dragon tear it up with Tajiri and Funaki and then let's see him fuck up Rey Rey again. I'm in line to see that without a shadow of a doubt.
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I thought it was his elbow that caused him to retire?
Guest Trivia247 Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 a True Cruiserweight push should be like at least 3 Cruiserweight matches per show. I think that was the one thing they did well in WCW in pushing the cruisers before they fucked it up. have a Cruiserweight title match and a handful of cruiser matches that are either for contenders or just for entertainment value. like those luchador matches
Guest Vitamin X Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Well WWF=WCW anyways, so we just might see a cruiserweight push while everything else in the product stinks and they go out of business until someone buys them out. Or they go completely bankrupt.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I thought it was his elbow that caused him to retire? I thought it was too. Can someone confirm which it was?
Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Hey, dont forget, on his debut, after Rey-Rey beat Chavo, they had Test go out and beat him up, for no reason whatsoever. I therefore rescind my previous comment and say it will be six MINUTES beofre Dragon jobs to Albert
Guest Zack Malibu Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 From what I know, Dragon had botched elbow surgery which had caused him to retire. As for the cruisers push, unless they get their head out of their asses and push these guys as equals to the rest of the roster, people wouldn't give a shit HOW good the matches are. Kidman has been MIA (is he hurt?), Funaki is a comedy act, and Noble is for some reason in the doghouse, jobbing to OVWer Orlando Jordan this past week on Velocity. They have the next Benoit in their grasp and treat him like shit. Cross your fingers and hope they get fed up with Noble, so he can go to TNA and tear it up with AJ and the like.
Guest pete Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Well with split shows we are going to have to get more cruiserweight action than we are already getting. I'll even settle for one or 2 a show if at least we get 13 minutes of action in the ring that exemplfies the cruiserweight action that we the fans deserve.
Guest Polish_Rifle Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 How many times are they going to re-push the CW division? A real push would be to stop having the cruisers squashed by the likes of Bill DeMott, Albert and losing cleanly to newbies like Orlando Jordan.
Guest sean pyro Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 It was his Elbow.. Sonny Ono discussed this with GITR while ago, it was a botched elbow surgery from a wCw doctor.
Guest the 1inch punch Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 who is this Orlando Jordan anyway....why wont i be surprised to see a hoss staring back at me
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Jordan's not that shabby at all. He isn't at Benoit-like levels of wrestlng but he tore it up with The Bruiser (The MCW champ whom he beat in the above picture) If they want a damn good hoss, then they should get The Bruiser. Think Rhyno mixed with CW Anderson
Guest Lightning Flik Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 And whaddya know, i was right Isn't he a hossful? So he was the MCW Champion once? Like what's his ring style? Brawler? Flyer? Or just Hossy?
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I only saw him in his match against the bruiser. He's not that big, and he wrestles a blue chipper/technical style. God knows what the OVW has done to him though, but he's not at La Resitance suckitude, unless of course Noble is just a god at carrying people.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 God knows what the OVW has done to him though, but he's not at La Resitance suckitude, unless of course Noble is just a god at carrying people. Noble can carry people, so I wouldn't put it past him. Although, since I hadn't seen the match the two had, I won't comment as I can't really.
Guest Goodear Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 You can tell he's a hoss from that picture? Sure he's built but so is Benoit... I mean what are this guy's measurements?
Guest Lightning Flik Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 You can tell he's a hoss from that picture? Sure he's built but so is Benoit... I mean what are this guy's measurements? Went to OVW's website and Jordan's listed at 6'4" and 250lbs. So he actually isn't a hoss in size, but rather just well built. Although, I could still mistake him for a hoss on sight. Then again, I'm like 5'9-5'11 (I haven't measured myself, so I don't know) so anyone who's like about five inches taller than me is a hoss.
Guest TonyJaymzV1 Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 He isn't bad at all. Between his MCW match against bruiser and his match against Noble, he has some true talent. Its probably because he was an indy wrestler before going to OVW, instead of doing everything in OVW. He definently isn't a hoss, he is maybe around 220-240 pounds and I'd say about 6'0.
Guest Rob Edwards Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Kidman has been MIA (is he hurt?) Yeha he fucked up an SSP a month or so ago and had to sacrifice his collarbone (I think) to save his neck, he'll be out a couple of months at least
Guest Choken One Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 If you ask me...Mysterio has been getting a big push in the last month...So maybe that should count for someting... Sure it's merely because of the DVD but still A push is a push is a push...
Guest razazteca Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 Its time for a Japan vs Mexico tag match: Los Guerreros & Rey vs Ultimo Dragon & Tajiri & Funaki. If Chavo is still injuried than make it a 3 way tag team match with Version 1.
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 It was his Elbow.. Sonny Ono discussed this with GITR while ago, it was a botched elbow surgery from a wCw doctor. Okay, so this piece of "news" is bull, then, like I figured.
Guest Danny Dubya v 2.0 Posted June 2, 2003 Report Posted June 2, 2003 I only saw him in his match against the bruiser. He's not that big, and he wrestles a blue chipper/technical style. God knows what the OVW has done to him though, but he's not at La Resitance suckitude, unless of course Noble is just a god at carrying people. The WWE will water down his style completely and make him wrestle matches where only a tenth of his full talent shows. If it was any other way, he'd be deemed too boring for the fans.
